    Good video Lars, it steered me into something I've been having trouble with. Like the rest of Fusion 360; I've found thatif you just keep playing around with it enough, you end up learning things yourself. A good example of that for me was a hydraulic cylinder I was modelling that had 4x threaded rods & 2x nuts, one either end that hold it together, I modeled the nuts also & using the mirror command I placed an offset plane about 200mm away & using the left dragging a box over the whole nut & mirrored the whole nut to that plane,I wanted to bring the rods with the two nuts into the main model. I found positioning the rods was troubling me. This tutorial was very helpful to me, but finding the mirror trick just experimenting was very satisfying. As this is probably a piece of piss to most Fusion 360 users, I'm learning only using Utube.& it's a bit further than the electrical box of yours that was my first endeavour at 360 -Thanks again lars for your tutorials & keep them coming mate!. Regards - PEDRO - & i'm not a mexican.

    What kind of 3D mouse would you recommend for a private user within a budget of not more than 200€/$? I would probably just use it to navigate in the digital space in Fusion as well as in some other programs more easily and precisely.

    What about when you move a body away from the sketch it was extruded from and cause yourself a ton of issues, Projection gets lost etc, how can you keep them together, or move them both to a new component so they can be moved properly in the future

    Professor:
    At 16:36 you used the Move/Face tool to increase the length, the other box moved as well. You seemed a bit stumped. Why did both boxes increase in length at the same time? You said you got it.

    I saw in another video that the difference between moving a body and a component is that the body is moved relative to the origin. The component is moved with it's origin.

    Lars, thanks for this lesson, I'm filing this one away till I master it. I was going insane trying to figure out how to copy a body that I just created in my design. Great time saver as I was creating the whole sketch over again and placing the body by hand (PCB SMD Diode's). Also, is there a place within Fusion 360 that has these electronic parts already created like the Mc Master Carr. Trying to create these parts when I realize I need them is very time consuming.
    Question For you: Do you have a tutorial on how to model circuitry for PCB etching. I was thinking about purchasing a desktop engraver to go with my 3D printer as I love to work with a lot of electronics. I want to take a plain copper clad board and have my etcher cut out the trace's (when I purchase). Far simpler then having to work with chemicals.

    Hi Lars. I like your videos and lessons. and i saw a lot allready and some i bit above my level yet but non the less i like fusion 360.. and i have a question. sometimes after editing or changing something in my design the old face stays put and blocks selecting lines and face underneath so i have to delete the blue lines connected with the purple circles.. what is it for why does it do that or what am i doinng wrong ?

      I am assuming what you are talking about is reference geometry. Doing some commands, Fusion creates projected geometry doing the process.
      If you don't need it, just delete it :-)

    G'day Lars' I am a bottom rung beginner! & finding your videos very helpful. I am using a $20 Logitech cordless mouse which works ok, but I think I could do better.What is a good mouse to use with Fusion 360? Regards - Peter Spence aka - Pedro.

    • @cadcamstuff
      @cadcamstuff  7 лет назад

      Hi Peter, I think there is just opinions when it comes to this topic. I have seen many CAD Ninja's rocking their $20 mouse :-)
      When I worked in the shop I used a Logitech MX $99, I liked the bigger mouse that follows the inside curve of your hand. Then I bought a Logitech M705 (Amazing battery life) $50 Really like this one for CAD work and was with me for 4 years. Now I use a 3D Connexion CAD Mouse $99 Just like the MX, I really like how it feels in my hand, but there is nothing other special about it than the name.
      Really any mouse with a middle mouse scroll wheel will do. I should also state that I don't use any of the programmable buttons.
      Hope this is helpful.

    • @K6TJO

      Perhaps aligning options can be combined or easily linked with the Move/Copy interface?

  • @markm6525
    @markm6525 6 лет назад

    It seems they forgot to include the "create copy" button in the Copy/Move dialog box in recent versions. And while I'm trying to learn it I'm not loving the fact I can't seem to copy an object half the time. I get to a point drawing when copy/paste is not possible and move is all I can do. :-(

      Hi Mark Moorcroft Thank you for watching!
      Are you running into what I did live the other day?? Trying to use the create copy on a face instead of body or component?
      At the moment I did not think about it, but afterward, it makes sense that you can't just copy a face... :-)
      Let me know.
      Best,
      'Lars

    • @markm6525
      @markm6525 6 лет назад

      No, I was trying to copy the entire body. Pretty basic, I created a box, added a negative offset box, added a circle and then used it as a circular pattern in the four corners. By the time I got to the circular pattern the default behavior for copy/move changed from copy to move. At that point there seemed to be no way to copy the body. I did it several time and the same thing happened every time. And actually move didn't seem to work right at that point either.

      I believe you can always right-click a body and do a Ctrl+C Ctrl+V but you will have ot reinsert the joints

    I am not certain that you are using the term "parametric" accurately. I believe parametric refers to the ability to change a model by modifying one or more of its parameters. Contrast that to a modeler like BobCAD (at least like it was when I used it a couple of years ago) which allows you dimension your model but you can't change the model by changing its dimensions -- clearly inferior to parametric modelers in my opinion. BobCAD subsequently added a timeline and touted it as parametric modeling because you could then rollback features then redraw them differently but that didn't make it a parametric modeler. I don't think that having a timeline is what makes a modeler parametric. In fact I used Alibre Design which is a parametric modeler but doesn't have a timeline, or at least it didn't when I last used it. The order of changes was based on the place in the list were the feature existed based on sequence of creation. I often had to reorder things so my changes would only affect the stuff higher up in the list. Fusion360 has that type of hierarchical design and has timelines and is a parametric modeler which is the best of all worlds.

    • @jeevesme
      @jeevesme 7 лет назад +1

      I think when he says parametric, he is referring to the fact that you can go back and change it VS in direct modeling you cannot go back and change it. This is how the Fusion 360 developers refer to it as well.

    • @twm4259
      @twm4259 7 лет назад +1

      Perhaps but if you look at "Solid Modeling" in Wikipedia then down to "Parametric and feature-based modeling" it tends to agree with my interpretation. I am not trying to say he is wrong but rather his (and apparently Fusion 360 engineers') interpretation of the term parametric is unconventional.

    • @jeevesme
      @jeevesme 7 лет назад +1

      If you haven't noticed, Fusion 360 is unconventional (not in a bad way).
