Anyone that dislikes Bruce should listen to this masterpiece. If they still don't like him after this then they're just stupid.

to clarify ... "Live in Largo" refers to The Capital Centre in Largo [Landover], Maryland ... opened in late 1973, it closed in 1999, and was demolished in 2002.... it was the site where: the Allman Brothers Band played in December 1973; Led Zeppelin played in 1975 & 77; and The Eagles' gave their historic performance of March 1977 which was included in 2013's ''History of the Eagles' DVD & CD ...

This is fabulous. Everyone who says Bruce isn't a good guitarist should be made to watch this. The quality of the video is terrific too.

For my money, this is at least as exciting guitarwork as his '78 live Prove it all Night.

I agree and have always felt that way! The most underrated musician because he stays true to the music! Always stays within the realm of the music never goes off on a look what I can do play a thousand notes in 4 bars of music. Makes you feel every note he’s playing! Also probably one of the most versatile guitarist Hard rock
      Rock
      Jazz
      Soul
      Country
      Blues
      Acoustic
      Does it all very well!
Back before ESB playing clubs he was touted as another Jimmy Page playing very heavy music but has said he didn’t want to be known as just another great guitarist but wanted to be known as just great… there is a difference. So he began to focus on songwriting more. Oh also a very accomplished piano player

The very best version is from December 1978 in San Francisco at the Winterland Theatre- but there is no video of that.

Bruce Springsteen at 28, playing a song not deemed "good" enough for his fourth album, "Darkness on the Edge of Town," rebased in June, 1978. He gave it to Patti Smith and it's been covered by many others. I guess at some point during the 100+ concert Darkness tour he decided it was adequate to play live. I saw him six weeks after the Largo show on September 30 at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. I had read reviews that seemed like absurd hyperbola. No one could be that good. Wrong. I walked out of the Fox thinking, *knowing*, that I had just experienced the greatest rock & roll that had ever been or was ever likely to be.

Caught two shows in the twin cities in 78, one in June and another in November, left both thinking, this wasn't a rock concert, it was something on an entirely different level!

Thank you for the upload. Springsteen is a remarkable singer, songwriter, performer and bandleader. Bruce never took anything for granted in chasing his dream, earning his sheer greatness every step of the way. This encore performance comes after a completely stellar two sets of music. Power, passion, grace and edge in seven intense minutes. Sorry, Patti Smith Group, this one belongs to the kid from New Jersey.

@Dan Jett Actually, Springsteen wrote and recorded "Because The Night" first. When he decided it wasn't going to make his next LP, he gave it to Smith. Her single, with some different lyrics, reached #13 on Billboard's "Hot 100" in June 1978. Shortly after, Bruce made the song a part of his setlist for the rest of 1978, pointedly doing *his* version, not Patti's remake. And ... it's way better.

The intro up to 2:20 is haunting the Bruce's solo break from 4:55 is raw & stunning
