I was so happy when I saw him on the current tour and he played this song. It's always been one of my favorite Bruce songs. The guitar solo is just incredible
I would have given my left arm to be there! It only makes sense that the man who wrote it performs it the best. God bless you 'Bruce Springsteen'! Niels and that awesome solo! Long live 'The E Street Band'!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love the way he throws his head x2935 times during this performance. That makes me throw my head. Or at least nod. I love the Boss and this song is brilliant!
I really wish I were present when this man was on fire. You can't be indifferent and still to someone who does something meaningful with such great PASSION.
bruce can play the gitar, the piano and he is a great singer! this song is so wonderful! I was at his concert in paris one week ago and he played this song... its was so great!! he is a living legend and I hope he will rock a long long time!!
proud to have contributed 100+* views. this rendition is just...goosebumps! by the way, anyone notice how ripped bruce is? damn, he is looking good and shredding hard! #madprops #lovingit #thisisawesome
Bruce wrote the song and music. She needed a single and Jimmy Iovine talked Bruce into letting her have it for her album. She changed a few lyrics. The part about the telephone is her lyrics. It would've fit nicely on Darkness On The Edge Of Town, but that shows you the genius of the Boss. If he doesn't want to be recognized for a certain song, he'll leave it off. For every song he put out, he probably set 5 aside.
Really I agree with all these people....40 dislikes?! I adore this song by Patti and Bruce. This one is more gritty and working man which is what Bruce was the pure image of. Patti's was more lustful and sexually liberal which is equally amazing. Plus this is live and super well shot, just like being in Paris with the band.
Don't worry what others like or don't! Stop comparing yourself to others! Learn to love your experience for what it is and stop limiting your enjoyment whether others like it or not. Give freedom to others to hate or love, and you will have more freedom from hate to love.. . that simple
Thanks for posting this great Bruce Springsteen classic. The sheet music for Roy Bittan's wonderful piano part on "Because the Night" can be found at manymidi.com/sheetmusic.htm - a note-for-note transcription.
@gianttitan12 again, too few realize that they co-wrote. "Desire is hunger, is the fire i breathe, Love is a banquet on which we feed" are not quite a springsteen lines. great song by both of them.
I chose this song as my wedding song. We chose the 10,000 maniacs version due to the piano. We took one Rumba lession at a dance studio and we pulled off a great dance. I highly recommend it if you like Bruce and can dance a little bit.
it's a great performance, you know it when you feel it. If you don't then you don't, there's so much out there, it's understandable. How could every single person have their particular expectations met that they happen to be carrying at any particular time? I think people who get hung up on the amount of dislikes have insecurities to look into. Basing enjoyment of something of anyting on whether others also like it or not displays a neediness and a hole in your ability to love.
gooooodnessss.... i thought there was no way i would like this better than patti even tho this is his song but watching this....i just gotta say its reeeallly sexy
Sorry to tell you this melondre, but it's Nils. I know because I was one of the cameramen on the month long European leg of the tour. The piano , drum and rear views of Bruce were my camera - best job ever!
Who thinks such as me that this SONG is one of the most amazing songs ever? and this live is the best.. ???
Masterpiece! At any rate...and caught in that golden time, of '85!
His version from 1980 that is on Spotify is also worth a listen. Incredible take on this song.
It's so powerful when Bruce's performing it...gives me shivers every time!
Best live performance ever
Happy Birthday to one of the greatest (and hottest) rocker of the entire world! God bless you, Bruce. A real MAN.
This performance gives me all the feels.
That piano at the start sends chills up my back. Amazing.
I was so happy when I saw him on the current tour and he played this song. It's always been one of my favorite Bruce songs. The guitar solo is just incredible

never expected how many emotions could been put into one song- BOSS
I love the way he throws his head x2935 times during this performance. That makes me throw my head. Or at least nod. I love the Boss and this song is brilliant!

Amazing jamming. Takes it to a whole different level.
Never knew that he wrote this song until I saw him do it in concert. Boston Garden, December 1980, The River tour. An unreal time.

i am in love with this video! super hot guy with his guitar and seducive voice!!!!!! wub
IMO, this version sounds better than the one on Live 1975-85. Love the dueling guitars in the last few minutes.
proud to have contributed 100+* views. this rendition is just...goosebumps! by the way, anyone notice how ripped bruce is? damn, he is looking good and shredding hard! #madprops #lovingit #thisisawesome

Sheer genius. Springsteen stands alongside Dylan, The Stones, The Beatles, The Who, Elvis and all the other all time greats.

himself and lofgren catch fire in a huge way here.brilliant.
agreed. his talent is evident in "prove it all night" from '78 as well.
