These reviews are brilliant. Even though the bikes are no longer available they are still handy for those buying in the second hand market. Certainly not a rambling commentary, feels like they are just about the right length with everything being covered.
Hello! Can you compare kona fire mountain 2022 with specialized rockhopper comp 2022 ? Which of them is a better value and built quality? Thank you in advance
It's beautiful! Is it better than Kona Fire Mountain? What if it is compared to Vitus Nucleus 27 VR? The price of Mahuna I am seeing on their website is $1049. It has increased a lot! 😢
Ye the components are mainly far better than the F.mountian The vitus dose win on a few component levels but overall the bikes are similar Brexit to the UK and covid has unfortunately led to a higher than normal yearly increase some brands in the uk jumped 20% which sucks
@@thefrothybikeco i have bought one and just wondering what other people are saying about it there’s some things that could be doing with upgrades like the hubs and stuff
Great overview! Thanks for also making good recommendations. Based on the mahunas geometry, what size bike do you think a 182 cm tall with 86cm inseam would fit?
@@thefrothybikeco thanks 🙏 for your time. I bought the large still getting use to the reach which is longer than other brands. One issue I have is the tip of the saddle which I feel is slightly upward?
@@ElderlyAnteater the tyres and rim are decent quality so tubeless will work im sure but the brands dont state this as they realy want you to spend more for tubless
120 or 140 will fit however the taller the fork fitted the slacker the feel, it will possible handle better decending but climbing may feel Bobby at the front (the wheel will lift off the ground on steep climbs ) Hope his helps

Thanks for the comment
I really enjoyed this video. Thank you and please do more! I have a Process 134 and getting a Procaliber soon 👍🏼
Awsome, the process 134 is a lovley bike and is so capable on the trails
Just started with a Kona Dew and it is a great bike, even in base form. I might go with this one next so I appreciate your informative review. Thanks.
I just got one of these in xl. im also 6'5 340lbs and it holds me well and I love it.
6'2 270 dude. Did u have to make any mods to the suspension to make it behave with ur weight? Bikes Ive ridden before bottom out from pedaling.
@@kingofpropain7493 I guess you could always put another 20-30 psi in there
I really dig the paint scheme on this bike
Thanks Great video nice and clear. 👍🏼I do mechanics for a Kona Dealer and we love the VFM Konas offer.
I Would love to get more insight into the Kona range, please dm us on insta for Kona chat
Nice bike , i miss boost hubs 110x15 and 148x12 but the bike looks really good.
Yeah I agree

Hi Ross, would you be able to review the kona fire mountain, i have been looking at it and want a proper review, love the videos, thanks
would love to get my hands on one but they are always sold out before i get a chance to order from distributor

@@thefrothybikeco got it. Thanks a lot for sharing more information. Appreciate it a lot!
Is it through axle or quick release?
Tubeless ready rims and/or tires?
If so - that is a perfect bike for that price, if not - kind of dissapointing
so tubless ready rims but tyres are not tubless stamped, we have however used them with tubless sealant and had no issues
1:03 - suntour seals can't/hard to change?
Easy to remove but not so easy to source seal kits
How does this compare to the Trek Marlin 5?
sorry cant help, i havent seen trek in the flesh and would be unfair to comment from third party information
can you give me a review on the new fire mountain
we would love to but, we dont have any instock or due in. sorry

@@spongeslob4501 wheels would always be a great upgrade, also upgrade the discs to sinterd compatable as the stock are resin only
How weight?
Can you tell me please would the brand x ascent dropper in 31.6 150mm fit this bike in large ?
sorry for the delay in replying, it will indeed fit fine
Great overview! Thanks for also making good recommendations. Based on the mahunas geometry, what size bike do you think a 182 cm tall with 86cm inseam would fit?
large, your the same hight as myself, the xl i found has a longer reach and feels stretched out. hope this helps

medium sise bro
What crank will fit in the BB? I have Mahuna too. And I want to replace my crank without buying new Bottom bracket.
Hi
So any square tapered cranks will fit it fine, they are sometimes called diamond taper but it’s the same thing
Cool thanks.
Tires and rims are tubeless compatible
I asked Kona about this and the tyres aren't. Still, I'm sure you could run them tubeless with few issues
@@ElderlyAnteater the tyres and rim are decent quality so tubeless will work im sure but the brands dont state this as they realy want you to spend more for tubless
@@thefrothybikeco I think it's more that the tyres are wire bead rather than folding right?
@@thefrothybikeco you know the business. They alwaya wants that the consumer buy separately. 🤦♂️ sad but true
Do you know if the Fork with 120-140mm travel will still fit?
A 120 should fit

@@thefrothybikeco ok thank you very much. I am planning to upgrade the fork but not yet. I want to use it first until it is almost broken🤣🤣
3x only!
