I wish I would have found you right after highschool. I needed all your advice back then. School I learned so much stuff I don't use today. I wish they showed us you in highscool.
With all the useless courses that were required of me in high school and college its absolute insanity a basic financial literacy course wasn't one of them.
@@randomyoutuber308 absolute facts. Took three different math classes but no financial courses
I agree with people not getting enough time to live life. Often get stuck also with a lot of peers that don't know how to stop or see stopping as evil. End up with cranky dissociated people or people that have to put in a show and fake it, with uneven measures of life, a bunch of money, and no fulfillment or sense of personal accomplishment in one's own familial life. Time being drawn away to business, or catching up with the economic curve and family no longer becomes a respite or place of growth, but a design of capitol empire or an ever consuming sort of lifestyle.
Theres a time that we all have to take a long walk and figure things out.
I dont always agree with Dave but they are spot on with this one...
House - Bought in Cash
Car - Bought in Cash
Debt - None
25 with a Basic Job and full bank account. if you listen to Dave he will lead you to the water, but he can't make you drink.
Yup it is called the koch brothers
Thank you for the video.
These guys have a point, but it's fairly limited in scope. The number of people taking on too much responsibility is so much less than those who aren't taking on enough.
Great insight. Side note, as a 22 year old, I think it is really really cool that half of your calls are coming from people my age. It is so cool to see my peers taking responsibility and seeking wisdom in their finances.
One of the MAIN problems here is that in USA people live for working. Look at other cultures. I am a foreigner leaving cos of that. TIME IS NOT 💰 money !! TIME IS LIFE 💫
People are playing tug of war with their lives pulling from both ends.
This was the next level for me after the baby steps. The lower stress of not having the consumer debt got me to think about what other "stressers" In my life I could do without. I had decluttered financially, then I decided to physically declutter my home and know I'm working on decluttering my time.
where is the call they are talking about?
I got the first CAD computer back in 1986 for our engineering company. I was astounded how quickly I could get things done. Same with the new word processors we used. But all we did was cram more work into the day, we didn't finish a "days worth" of work early and go home. It is based on the "tyranny of the immediate". We actually debated back then if we wanted to get a fax machine, simply because we knew our clients would EXPECT us to get the work done quicker and to them faster...putting a huge amount of strain on our employees. But hey, our competitors were going to, so we had to.
Parents nowadays aren’t doing their job!
I learned a lot from this episode. Thanks.
I love Dave.
WERE HERE RAMSEY!
OMG!! I just discovered Dave and I love it !! Im hooked !!
Same and I like your family name
Hahaha... I feel like Starbucks is the opposite of Dave.
Dave Ramsey is right, the more stuff people have the faster they have it the less happy they are.
I finally got my wife (33) to quit FB, after years of telling her she didn't need it (Honestly, how much research that correlates time spent on social media to unhappiness do you need?). On her very first day she came home and told me how liberating it was.
I finally convinced my husband the same! The only thing I have is you tube. FB has no benefits and adds too much stress.
My dad always said, “ Don’t Feel Think”.
Thanks for acknowledging your young audience. I’m nineteen and your clips have been some of the content on RUclips that is edifying and not a complete waste of time. I appreciate it! It’s good stuff to chew on and apply to my life.
Spare me please. This is the problem with the USA....we don't know how good we have it. Things are sooo good now, that we create drama and problems where there is no drama and problems.....just to have something to complain about. One thing all Americans should do is TRAVEL. No, I don't mean vacation in Jamaica for a week, or spend 7 days in Ireland. LIVE somewhere more than a week and you will realize you have all FIRST WORLD problems and are spoiled. "Anxiety" in the USA is your Amazon Prime Delivery arriving one day late. Stop the madness!!
The problem with America and really much of the world nowadays is that we can't seem to look beyond the dollar. If you don't have dollars, then you don't have dignity. Coupled with our expensive standard of living, this is certainly a recipe for disaster because we all have to work that much harder for basic necessities than in the past. It's screwing with our minds.
I can say shortly mr.Dave Ramsey! Great Wisdom !!!
Let there be peace on Earth - and let it begin with me. This is one of the best videos I have seen from Dave.
God gives everyone a purpose
Our culture has a problem.
Ain't that the understatement of the year.
Understatement of the century
People have a lot of problems mostly because of ignorance and lack of Sympathy.
@@riverdaletales8457 not to nit pick, but there is a massive difference between sympathy, pity, and empathy. We have an empathy problem because empathy requires thought and understanding, but more we have too many people that are in adult bodies but are children in their heads.
@@hitandruncommentor Correct. Empathy isn't always the appropriate feeling or response for some problems either.
Read “The fourth turning” by Neil Howe so you can see why we’re experiencing an en of an generational era! Read, read, read!
This is great! Thank you.
Beware of anyone who's always busy. They are trying to fill a void, a vessel, unseen.
When your life is micromanaged, you don't have to overcome any adversity, you are sheltered from the real world, you are not given an increasing level of responsibility or accountability, then you get what you sow......your "18-25 year olds" with all this "anxiety". It is called reality....when they eventually have to do it for themselves. Life in the USA is the best it has ever been. The poor, however you want to define, have plenty of food and are obese or overweight, have free healthcare at hospitals if ill or injured, have air conditioning in most cases, have endless money for tattoos, have cellphones and cellphone data plans. This is not early 19th century USA, trying to figure out each day how your are going to eat. SMH.
So good, I watched it twice!! I love Mrs. Ramsey’s reminder! She needs her own show! I bet she is full of rock solid wisdom!
Realizing that life is a journey and not a race is something I tried to teach both my daughters. My Dad always used the old adage of “how to eat an elephant” for life’s problems, one bite at a time. Great video!
I’m 24, been watching since 19/20. Love this channel

This is why I listen to Dave so much more now! Amen! Always leave room for yourself to decompress and less busy.
Young Kids Don't have Respect for no one!!!!!!!
Very true! If you’re a young woman, I’d recommend Allie Beth Stuckey’s book You’re Not Enough (And That’s Okay) to speak to this!
This is probably the BEST conversation Dave and his Co host has given! He is absolutely right!
Great conversation guys - 5 stars 🌟
There was so much wisdom packed into this segment. It was exactly many of the things I needed to here at this junction and my age. Thank you and God bless!
I learned young to stack up projects to be more productive. If I had 10 things to do in a day chances are I’d get 9 done. If I had only 3 things to do I struggled to get them done. Free time was like a demon to me. “Idle hands are the devils workshop”. I became stressed anxious and unhappy. Not being ashamed to sound religious I prayed and talked with people I respect. Slowly God revealed His foundation plan “Love the Lord with all your might heart and soul love your neighbors as yourself. Seek first the kingdom of God”. Basically God help me prioritize what’s truly important. I knew these verses but I guess it wasn’t real to me until then. This journey started almost 20yrs ago. I never had a great epiphany in this time it’s been a slow progression. I feel good most of the time. The good life is the slow journey with the Lord for me.
There’s a difference between being busy and being productive. It’s about balance and not overwhelming yourself. I used to do that and took me some time to realize it’s ok to make time to do nothing once in a while.
Activity is not a substitute for achievement
I'm 24 and here because both my parents are really bad with money and never thought me how to handle it wisely. Maybe we also have a problem because of the generation before us?
We are the same age and I do see our generation lagging. However it is evident in every generation. At some point when you turn 18 gotta accept responsibility for yourself and learn for yourself
True, I'm 60 and all my parents did was work and pay the bills. No one saved money in those days. I never learned to save and made so many money mistakes all my life. If I only new then what I know now. Too late for me, but save yourself. No debt and save your money.
Yeah I'm in the same boat, but once you are aware of it, you have the responsibility to change it. You can't choose how you start, but you can choose how you finish.
I'm also 24 my parents never saved, always lived paycheck to paycheck, financed every thing every chance they got, we had nice new things but when one little thing went wrong, we would have furniture repoed, a utility gets shut off for anywhere from a day to a week, it seems that they never learned their lesson as the process would eventually repeat with them, but I learned from that how I basically shouldn't handle money, I'm not perfect handling money by any means, sometimes I slip up and "have to" waste money but I'm more aware and responsible especially with Dave Ramsey guiding me.
exactly. this wave of parents is even worse.
Oof I feel called out there. Got 3 jobs, working 75 hours a week and full time student. Just had my first day off in over 3 months and it was uncomfortable not to be busy and running 24/7.
Wow in my prime I couldn’t work 3 jobs bless your heart...
I used to struggle so much with guilt over taking a break. I feel you.
Good! I dislike seeing so many classmates working overtime and attending school full-to-overtime. It really cuts into the quality of learning, networking, and especially group projects which affect me directly.
I've had to learn this the hard way. I have ADHD and if I take on too much at once then I fail. I'm always having to slow down and simplify my life.
It's ok to nothing sometimes. Nature works based on balance and we are part of the natural world.
I'm a happy 33 year old who still has a CRT TV, watches VHS, does not have prime, Netflix, hulu, Disney+, cooks at home, drives a 5+ year old car (paid off), and still uses a 5+ year old phone.
Just 5+cars,try 21yrs old car still rolling
5+ year old car isn't that old... the NEWEST vehicle I drive is 30 years old and I'd take it over a new car any day - it's paid for, gives me no trouble, and is easy to work on.
@@rickyrick9328 my current car is a 2012 Escape. My car before that was an '85 Volvo. So, I'm still in the infancy stage of my new car.
@@zunaiandre2341 I've got a 21-year-old car right here almost 22 it's a 99 Camry four cylinder 198,000 MI.
Who is the guy next to Dave? Can someone tell me?
Dr John Delony. He is part of the Ramsey group. A link to his show is in the description. Check it out. It’s pretty good. He had to grow on me though. But you may attune to him faster!
I bought shelves to organize my stuff! More money spent on credit! Finally woke up and realized that to have money for the fun things in life I needed to stop spending period! I looked around and said no more shelves- get rid of what you’re not using! Bless someone else! Praise the Lord I am now debt free! Still dealing with too much stuff but being debt free sure is a great feeling! Having a simple budget helps too! Slow and steady!
It’s called carrying a lazy mans load. My father forced me to learn that lesson by making me make two trips. It has served me well in life.
Thank you

24, married and we are knocking out our 80K debt, 7K a month.
You are killing that debt!!! Good job.
Very proud of you!
Dang! Your killing your debt AND you're making a killing...$7k/month! Way to go!
7k a month!! Wow! Keep at it, that is insanity! In a good way. Is that 7k on the debt on top of your living expenses?

To sum up the problems in our modern culture or society- materialism, narcissism, instant gratification, and vanity.
There is a significant difference between being busy and being productive. One doesn’t always equal the other. Quality over quantity wins every time.
"Doing nothing is better than being busy and doing nothing" - Daoist saying
Thank you for these words. I have been looking for this statement for a long time. I love how you emphasized the difference between these two. Amen!!!

Mr. Meeseeks 😂. Hope you’re not paying him hourly
Just one!? ROFL
I'll fix that at 4:20
Our productivity has gone through the roof, while wages have gone nowhere.
Meaning there is no peace.
How can anyone work 50 hours a week, and pay a mortgage and health insurance for a family of 4, while having peace and happiness?
i mean...your ancestors worked 80 hours a week on their farm and didn't complain too much and they seemed to have all made it. it's all perspective. if you're working 50 hours a week going nowhere try moving somewhere else, perhaps where you're living is too above your means. Find another job, if that isn't working.
Another similar analogy is during thanksgiving we stack our plate with a large helping of each dish.
Let’s subtract some of those things and eat in more thoughtful amounts.
Sometimes you just need to hear someone else say it.
Contentment
As soon as you mentioned to take something away a song came to mind - Conway Twitty “Happy Birthday Darlin’”. The songs speaks to taking things away to make you happy. I personally think it’s relevant to your discussion plus it’s a good song.
You can’t do your best work when your stretched thin. Nothing gets quality time theses days. Or at minimum the time something deserves.

We are living shorter, harder lives? I think not.
I got off FakeBook and its the best thing I’ve done! Wish I’d done it YEARS ago.
I get this! People just do to much and with that money starts to become a problem
Maybe people are still searching for their purpose.
The workaholic millionaires telling people to not be busy 😂
Read “The fourth Turning” by Neil Howe and you will UNDERSTAND why were experiencing the end of a generational era! It is actually an end and you’d better get ready for it. Dave Ramsey’s first step and you’re on a good start ✨⭐️
It's all about securing the future and it's not looking good no matter how hard you try.
As a mom, I learned “less is more”. I’ve seen a ton of busy parents - doing every activity possible with their child. 🖼 ⚽️ 💃🏼 🎨 💴
Feel bad for your children
@@aaronharman5431 Many mothers "do everything" with their child, not for the child's sake, but for their own entertainment. The kid doesn't do "activities" because the child wants to do them but because the parent (usually the mom) wants to re-live their own childhood.
