Would you own an MG HS?
Yeah, collecting next month
Im hoping to convince the good lady to accompany me to our nearest dealer next week. I'm hoping a sniff around the crappy new Quashqai will be enough to get her to look at an HS.

I test drove one today and was totally impressed!! The feel of high-end quality in its plush interior is surreal and puts competition to shame! The drive is decently swift off the mark too! Not much body roll around corners. Composed. This model actually won SUV Of The Year(Sgcarmart)...
offcourse, its a wonderful car!!!
For me, MG will always be British brand despite being owned by a Chinese group, they are still a respectable brand in the world of automotive

Hi ya picked mine up 27th Jan 2021 absolutely love it ive got the exclusive in white with the red leather trim , it is fab the android play or apple if you've got that it's great , better on petrol on the motorway, but one of my favourite cars by far xx
Hi Tom, great video. What was the build quality of the cabin like? I.e. were there a lot of rattles and squeaks?
Alarmingly good, considering the price point. Relatively silent!
Nice review. MG do seem to be improving model on model and the Chinese owners are quickly getting to grips with European standards. Just need to work on the engine range now.
Yeah, the engine range could be a bit more ambitious.
Exciting stuff going on in China, reminds me of the early US/UK auto industries; lot's of companies, lot's of creativity. I have a hunch we will soon start to see enthusiast offerings, hope those come to the US.

I'd have to refer to the spec sheet to see, drove this a loooong time ago. :)
I think choosing the manual shift is essential when DSG can be hard to get used to.
The DSG is supposed to be great, I’ve not tried it. The manual is fantastic though.

I have a feeling that, if this continues to sell well, the ZS EV platform will be adapted - a good place to start.
Shame that you get the spec levels the wrong way around. Explore is bottom then Excite and top is Exclusive, you kept referring to the Excite as being bottom spec. Otherwise a good review.
In Australia it goes (base) the vibe, (middle range) the excite, (high end) is the essence

I have been on the MG site to configure this car and it states that the first years VED is £870, what does it drop down to after the first year?
what is the transmission type? it is 6dct or at at your country? In china it is 6dct with 2 .0 liter turboo engine.
In the UK it’s auto (DCT) or 6-speed manual without the 2.0 engine. I guess the smaller one for Europe is for emissions.
In europe they use the engine from MG6 1.5 turbo 7 dct
Thanks very much for this Tom, I think that you have just made up my mind for me. Have vieweed this one in autmatic today, was very impressed and got a test drive next week. I am trying to compare with offerings allmost parallel with Vauxhall, Suzuki, Honda, Peugot, Renault (But just bombed out the Captur after 4 Months, one of the worst cars ever). Anyway the only real competitor is probably the Peujot, but with the French attitude at the moment we are probably going tohave supply problems with them Waiting for delivery of 2021 MG HS 1.5 Auto is at least 6 months, at the moment thing the Excite but who knows might just treat myself to the Exclusive or should I go electric?
Just ditched the fiat 500l ,this is defo my next car :)
What would you choose between Kia sportage and MG HS?
Truthfully, entirely down to exactly what you're looking for - however, the Sportage may prove to be more reliable in the long run.

He is driving a manual which misses out on so many things and plus there is a spare tire under the plastic storage bin. In the boot and there is heaps more space as from what I have seen in Australia so I think the car has different tweeks between countries
Different countries will definitely have different setups. Shame we get all the rubbish under the boot haha.
