I rented an MG EHS hybrid while on vacation in Spain. In spite of my concerns about the quality and reliability of Chinese cars, the MG absolutely impressed me. Actually, it impressed me so much that I am considering purchasing one.
Better to rent one , if you look at the big picture as in warranty and a decent review website for mg motors UK , like trust pilot . Only high rating was the experience of first going to the showroom . The vast majority of reveiws were really peed off personal experiences of mg buyers 😢
I own an MG ZS. Dont be fooled by MG's 7 years warranty. Most of the items (99%) are only covered for 2 years. 7 years only for body corrosion. So the warranty should not be a reason for buying this car. But it's a great car. Great tech and value for money. I love it.
Sorry why would you want to climb into a boot ! 50 years of driving I can’t remember buying a car because I can climb into the boot I’ve owned range rovers Volvos etc, other than that quite a good review. Please don’t do a carwow review and stick a twig up the exhaust.
It’s just a way of demonstrating a very boring statistic, I can honestly say boot space never comes in to it for me, however I know it does for a lot of people
You never know when you might need to transport a “body-sized” object in the middle of the night. Would like to know before I buy that I have that option should the need arise. 😉
Just taken delivery of mine, Auto Trophy in Urban Gray. Fantastic car. As for moaning about the height settings of certain things let's remember that the asian/chinese people average under 5'8" so its been set up for them. Im sure in models to follow they will address this.👍
I'm picking up my MG HS next week ...I ordered the trophy manual....this was a car I'd never considered before but we were due to change our car as we needed more room ....I just so happened to find myself in a MG showroom a few months back ...I could not beleive the quality of the interior in the HS ..leather electric heated seats , adaptive cruise control , soft touch material all over the cabin, ambient lighting ,electric folding door mirrors ,reclining back seats , dual air con ,electric tailgate (auto only) , drive modes(auto only), lane keep assist and pedestrian and bicycle warning and loads of other on board tech ...I really think some car manufacturers could learn a thing or two about interior tech from MG ..yes its at the more frugal end of the suv market but look at the Kia Sportage se for instance ..you basically get 5 seats and a steering wheel and that's your whack plus its around £2000 more expensive for the kia entry level model that mg's top spec trophy ...I'll take the mg ...Great honest review 👍
@@wendystewart6841thanx Wendy I do love it.... i picked it up on monday there .its a big beast of a car with tons of room which is what we needed plus it just feels so luxurious ..its the type of interior you would expect to see in higher end cars BMW, Mercedes that kind of thing plus ive found it pretty good on fuel aswell .well worth the money very happy with it👍
Had my HS Trophy in black pearl for 3 months and would I recommend it? Yes absolutely feels really good quality drives well looks amazing, for the money this is unbeatable. A couple of little niggles no rear courtesy lights rearview mirror as stated is slightly low but it is on a double hinge so can be moved up, economy is ok not great, the paint is very soft so although the black when clean is stunning it marks very easily and this car actually drives itself which I don't look ke so have turned off.Would I buy this car if I could turn the clock back 3 months? Yes yes yes. When you think of what you get for your money this is a no brainer.
Lovely looking car, that red interior looks amazing, i would buy one with the red interior, be great for my camping trips an mountain biking here in very wet Scotland lol 🤣👍🏴 great review cheers 👌👍😁
I live in Thailand for part of the year and bought a brand new MG Zs iSmart 1.5L that I use when there, it's been a nightmare from new. Out of the blue the A/C will stop working, the engine cooling fan stops and on top of this it displays a host of traction control/cruse control faults. It been back to the dealer many times in fact I left it with them for 3 mouths whilst I was back in the U.K. On return, went to pick it up to drive home (50km), 10km from home exactly the same faults appeared as when it went in for repair. In addition if you turn the car off with these faults, the car is disabled and will not start leaving one stranded. I now keep a DTC remover in the car at all times so I can complete my journey. In Thailand A/C is essential not a luxury as driving in 35ºC+ without A/C is brutal. Would I buy another...........No. When the car is running correctly it is a nice car to drive, it's quiet, economical, and comfortable. I think the worst thing is that MG don't give a toss after there have your money.
I have a 2020 one in Thailand, exact same interior with the red. 45000 km and only had one failure. The Tyre Preasure Monitoring box broke, around 25 pound repair. I have the ine with the pre gacelift nose but I think it looks better, more balanced. It is a quite classic design and the new front looks too modern. Milage in the city is quite high but on distances is fine, 16 km/l against 11km/l in the city.
In modern terms ., round town mpg is quite poor . Insurance is quite high averaging 900 £ pounds per year if you live in a city . I test drove a auto trophy . The 1.5 engine could have done with a little refining , I found it a bit noisy and rough when accelerating . Mg 7 yr warranty is not as complete as say a Kia . People who want too buy one should check the full warranty before ordering, so they know the short timeline of many many parts of the car.
Considering I just ordered a Renault Scenic E-Tech got £47k this really is a bargain being 20 grand less. That tech & screens look awful and seems very laggy but for what it is and the price point can’t complain too much
You mentioned it as a fault and I will concur completely, the seats. My father in law bought one and I drove it for 80 miles. The 'sitting on the seat' experience put me off from driving it again. Totally horrible. Have a decent test drive before you buy
Hi Very interesting all your comments, as said, here are Some issues, you stated a 7-year warranty, does this mean you only pay for the service, not the parts, Regards welshman 2081
@@wasimdar8336 Hi I am confused I understand oil and filters etc but the parts are mechanical, So what is the 7year warranty for, After my revisit to enjoying your video comments, you stated the mirrors were heated, but no mention of de-frosting the windscreens, etc, it does sound a great car. regards PS I do hope you answer.
For der money a major lot of metal and plastic around you, sitting high up with auto box , back passengers will enjoy the comfort of rear seating. you can walk in to a dealer with 23 to 25 k depending on colour and get a new 24 plate . DOWNSIDE , engine wise not modern day technology , its heavy on emissions and round the town its a 30 mpg and engine quite harsh when pushing harder , so a 12000 mile a year is gonna be with road tax another £3 000 py . They also sent uk the SE tweaked body shell hence top of range but no electic glass roof as pretweaked had. laggy gearbox , silly red button does virtually nothing much and a rearveiw mirror that blocks yer vision (unless yer a midget) ooh the ole MG midget lol also a crap lagging infotainment centre The long warranty doesnt protect most of the car after initial 12 months and some bits get only 6 months plus you have to keep with mg for the 7 years as in service and repair parts . I read the warranty , which states you must also keep it as clean as possible otherwise they will question any paint defects

I totally agree, everyone just dismisses they due to the Chinese ownership, but they are in fact a great car for the money

Boot size is useful especially if you have mobility needs and need to store a wheelchair or scooter
great for car camping.🚙⛺️🏴
I sleep in mine when out metal detecting so love all the information so I can turn the seats into a bed .

I currently have a ZS Automatic which I love. When looking to upugrade I will certainly look closely at the HS. Your video was excellent. Thank you.

AMT mode completely removes the jerky transmission... In about 30 seconds to reset it 😎
how to get amt mode?
Just ordered one today, grey colour trophy , oh, i live in the wettest darkest place in Ireland, guess where? Lol 😂
Congrats on the order! It’s a great car! And is Ireland really wetter than Manchester ? 😉😂

Has anyone managed to bind the car to the app yet I have the new mg hs se and can't find it on the infotainment system anywhere
I think it's only the MG EVs that allow to be synced to the app, not the petrol powered ones
I’ve had mine a couple of weeks and thought I’d try the paddle shifters, they don’t work? Are they just for show?
Manual and then use paddles
Yes looking in to getting one
Did you try and test the MG Pilot?
Just picked mine up today, what are paddle,s for 🤔
Put in manual the use paddles to change gear 😊
I actually prefer the front of the pre-facelift. Looks a little like a basking shark.

I'm liking only MG ZS, HS, MG6 & MG GT, that's it.
It appears that the term engineer has reverted back to driving trains.
