I have the outgoing 2024 hs trophy manual and I love it ....this new one model is stunning it's actually longer than its predecessor giving it more boot space which was a big bugaboo for MG HS owners because for a car of its size the boot space was quite lacking but the height of the car has been lowered by an inch or two ...im sure this will sell like hotcakes in the uk ...great review 👍
A massive improvement BUT no we’re to put your phone when use CarPlay! Putting it on the phone charger pad whilst it’s connected by a cable will overheat your phone

I said the same to the dealer when I test drove a PHEV. What's the point in a wireless charging pad when the apple carplay isn't wireless! I've gone for a 18 month old C300e Mercedes plug-in hybrid instead. The MG will plummet in value
The Tucson starts from 2k more than this. Cars of this size that overlap on value are the Citroen C5 Aircross and Nissan Qashqai (though barely on price and it's much smaller on the inside)
When MG lands to the Bulgarian and Baltic markets (which I hope will very soon), I think the new HS will form part of the initial range in those markets.
@@BuckleUpShow The only proof I have for MG’s potential launch to Bulgaria is a job role as Country Sales Manager for Bulgaria / Greece on the MG Motor CEE website on the careers page. It used to also say Baltics (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania), but now only says Bulgaria / Greece. However, MG has been on sale in Greece for almost a year.
@@laurradu868 You’ve had MG in Romania since December 2023. For Bulgaria, I hope they’ll get it very soon, and same with Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania. Plus, I don't live in Bulgaria, but I really want MG to come to their market.
Seems like a pretty decent car at the price. I do prefer the look of the previous gen though. As someone who drives lots of twisty roads, as soon as I hear the words “rolls in corners” I lose interest. I think my next purchase will be a Seat Ateca.
@@BuckleUpShow Wife doesn’t like estate cars plus I need the height and practicality of an SUV for an elderly parent plus wheelchair so a hatchback won’t cut it. Ateca or Karoq are about the best fit I think and on balance I prefer the Ateca.
I had the serious misfortune of being given one of the previous generation HS’s for a day whilst my BMW was getting a small repair. It was woefully bad - I appreciate it’s cheap but the engine was appalling, the seating position awful, the infotainment abhorrent and the smell wasn’t great either. This looks like a step up but I get why they are so cheap now.
I'm intending to buy a SE version in manual , is there still 19" alloys & front parking sensors ?. MG specs website is not accurate , any help appreciated .
Thanks for that , just proves that MG spec's (front sensors ) is incorrect as I thought . I wonder what else will change before I get my car & although still a good buy there's cost cutting eg : dual exhausts taken away & poor quality rear armrest. Previous customers like me will notice more , a pity !. Great video though , nice to hear a honest video !!!!!😊😊😊
We are getting the se manual next week. We were also looking at the out going model too. But chose the new one as found the interior a far nicer place to be. I even prefer the cloth seats over the leather.
I also prefer the cloth seats , it's got rear passenger lights this time but no folding door mirrors but they are adjustable , small points maybe but can't help that MG seem to ' Rob peter to pay Paul !). Overall great buy for price , just don't trust MG's specs online !!
Would you consider a ford focus a family car? My focus has a little ambient lighting and that’s a 2020 model. This is a top spec in 2024! Better still, the older model did have it so don’t understand that one.
@@BuckleUpShow I prefer the interior to the older version (they seem to have cut down on some things like the rear arm rest, seats, general finish). I also think the exterior of the previous model looked more substantial. 2024 model looks too try-hard.

Yeah I think we're going to be seeing a lot of these, thanks for watching
in australia its coming with 10 years warranty very tempting
That's a very strong warranty
Same as Mitsubishi plus Mitsubishi has 10 years roadside assistance too
Mitsubishi left the UK market a few years ago
It says a 7 year warranty, but many components are covered for 3 years

You can put it in one of the cupholders or in the glove box as there is a gap for cables under the lid

No sun/pan roof option is a bit of a niggle, but overall a decent looking package. The PHEV could be an option for me.
They may always add it as an option later, it is an odd omission
No interior ambient lighting though, on a top spec car in 2024! The pervious model did, why not this one?
A top spec car that's £4000 cheaper than the base price for a VW Tiguan
@@BuckleUpShow the old model had it though, right?
Better still, cars like the Hyundai tucson and Kia Sportage have this. I’d say this is where this cars target market is.

How was your fuel consumption? Awesome review, by the way!
I got low to mid 30s, which isn't exceptional but it is about what I would expect from a pure petrol vehicle of this size and power
The sound the parking sensor will dive you mad
How long do you spend reversing?
My neighbours have one. It's sounds like church bell ringing.Sorry iys the parking sensors
Currently on holidays and renting one. I absolutely hate the beeping. It's full on anxiety inducing. I actually hate this car.
