However, as all my American Jewish friends are secular and do Not have patience for anything Orthodox I can appreciate both sides now a bit more. Yet, I have to admit that the Orthodox relationships amongst themselves is brutally 'rough' and the men awkward towards their women while seemingly obsessed with continually being in a state of marriage . While last in Israel twenty+ years ago I was amazed at the 'open hostility' of the secular Israeli's toward their Orthodox brethren!! Yet, there is an obvious spillover-need of each group being STUCK in a world goING more insane by the day as the two extremes battle and HaSHEM looks down from heaven and knows who are His people while were all still trying to figure it out!
Looking from a Christian perspective and someone that comes from the "world" Esty so longs to be a part of, I look at her world and so wish I had been born into such a community of innocence. here is my best explanation as a modern Orthodox Jewish girl: it is an optional thing for women to cover their hair when they get married. remember, "optional". my mother does not cover her hair, I don't expect that I will take it on myself. most women who cover their hair cut it very short to make it easy to slip a wig in and off. It is not considered " seductive" to show your hair. I am orthodox and very Joy with my religion. I do not feel pressured at all.

What if the woman wants to work and live as she want? Would the men who are ‘working hard’ accept this? No probably, that’s the point we are talking about, the problem is here :) women should be able to do what they want, is she happy as a house-woman? Let she be. Is she happy as an independent woman? Let she be. Why forcing her? That’s the problem we have in some societies.
@@sidrazeitouni5673 I second this comment thou this movie is about Jewish family but even Muslims can relate to it in some levels or many religious families .
How is this movie not considered a hate crime against religious jews, if they did anything similar to black or Asian or Mexican people it would be a hate crime and be taken off I’m not saying I agree with these Jews doing all these things I’m just saying how come this isn’t considered a hate crime or discrimination or derogatory against specific group of people
This mini series is actually based on Deborah Feldman autobiography: "Unorthodox: The Scandalous Rejection of My Hasidic Roots", which tells the story of her escape from an ultra-Orthodox community in Brooklyn. It is not propaganda, or a hate crime. It was someone's experience within this particular community. Just like any other religion, there's many different communities, and many different experiences. Also being black or Asian is a race, being Mexican is a nationality, not a religion, or a community. there can be hate crimes against either; but if anything, a better point of comparison would be Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, etc.

You equate happiness with material possessions?
What if the woman wants to work and live as she want? Would the men who are ‘working hard’ accept this? No probably, that’s the point we are talking about, the problem is here :) women should be able to do what they want, is she happy as a house-woman? Let she be. Is she happy as an independent woman? Let she be. Why forcing her? That’s the problem we have in some societies.
@@sidrazeitouni5673 I second this comment thou this movie is about Jewish family but even Muslims can relate to it in some levels or many religious families .

How is this movie not considered a hate crime against religious jews, if they did anything similar to black or Asian or Mexican people it would be a hate crime and be taken off I’m not saying I agree with these Jews doing all these things I’m just saying how come this isn’t considered a hate crime or discrimination or derogatory against specific group of people
with Jews it's different. It's been this way for thousands of years. No news under the sun
You obviously have no idea what a hate crime is.
Oh wow!
Such a good trailer, such a Bad mini-series lol
Full-on disappointment.
when i first saw this clip way back in march i thought the guy chasing esty was the husband, not the cuz.
These people are creepy. This isn’t a religion this is a cult horrible 😤
this is just how netflix portrays jews. We are not a cult this is just to make the story dramatic to add an effect.
This is not a true story
I think my life like this girl 👧😕🤔😅😪😩
I hope you too can find your happiness❤

Je suis désolé pour les juifs ultra-orthodoxes et leur lutte contre l'émancipation des femmes. Il y a des problèmes similaires dans toutes les religions. La femme veut se réjouir sans Dieu. Isaïe (3-5)

100% narcissistic, materialistic and hedonistic. What a wonderful representation of the chosen people.
Great movie to interpret the culture of it ❤

@@shaunmckenzie5509 And you know this how? Did you check .... parts? Did you check the mothers? Did you check ethics (opportunistic scum or not), etc. Artistic community is mostly secular - knows nothing about Judaism and Jews and has many pretentious, flat as a sheet of paper, pseudo-sophisticates, genuine idiots who would sell/murder their mothers for fame and fortune.
The Jewish community is not monolithic.
Do you want me to tell what some Shauns did to other Shauns and said about each other ..? And this is a group of people that lived/lives in the same place. Not the diversity of experience/circumstances, Jews were forced to have throughout millenia.
The 30 year war in Europe between Christians and Christians cost 30 million of lives (if I remember it correctly, it was 1/3 of the population). Continue laughing. Moronically.
Leave this issue to me.

This movie is disturbing. In fact 1/2 secular marriages fail and maybe 1/100 Orthodox-Jewish marriages fail. We have an instruction from G-D how to do things properly. Let's don't lose it over undisciplined baruchim.
Oh please, 1/100 comes from the societal pressure. Here In Indian it's similar, women cannot get out of bad abusive marriages.
Lol you do know that the numbers are this low because women are forced to stay in abusive and unhappy marriages, right? You do know that they risk their lives when they try to leave… riiiight?
@Hazel Allison it has already been statistically concluded that Western women are significantly unhappier, than women in other, especially more traditional societies. So much for freedom.

This movie is antisemitic . As a Ashkenazi Jewish , am feeling really offended.
how is it antisemitic? It is very popular amongst Jews, in the US at least.
Director, producer, advisors, and most of the cast are all Jewish. It was created by Jews, so how could it be antisemitic?
this is so sad to watch horrible
