    You know what’s a breathe of fresh air? It’s how you’re down to earth. There’s no judgement going on just straight passion for the sport. I like that you’re a braid guy and don’t bash on people who use straight 2lb. You give pros and cons to multiple tactics. Do you have an opinion on JDM rods and reels? Would be an interesting next endeavor. I have a 7-6 gloomis tsr and I recently got a 6-3 JDM rod that casts further and is quite a bit more sensitive. I haven’t gotten into their reels yet, but most of them have “shallow spool” models, which would seem more ideal for using braided lines. Thanks for all the info! Love the attention to detail

    Alrighty, this is the video i been looking for. Very good step by step break down. I really wanted to try some mini jiggin but very few around my area uses them. Esp for northern nevada. I use japanese bfs gear thats made for trout fishing mountain streams and the action on the rod you showed is the same thing i look for in a rod. My go rod is shimano trout one ns rods, abosolutely love it. Also idk you seen but they make braided line for trout fishing. Very fine line but strong. Usually bright colored so u can quicky locate where you are at in fast moving water and actually use to ur advantage to fish between/around rocks.

    Hey man awesome content! Me and the family are making our annual trip up to June Lake Loop soon, we’ve always just done wait and bait but I’m looking to try the jig style, this video was very very helpful! Was also wondering what color jigs work best up there? Thanks!!

    • @SeaSpankerOutdoors
      @SeaSpankerOutdoors  6 месяцев назад +1

      I get asked this question alot and the short answer is there are no set colors for lakes. There are lots of factors that determine what color a trout is going to want each day. That said in the Sierra most lakes are clear so I typically start with the more natural looking colors instead of the real bright colors as bright colors dont look like somthing that would naturally live in the water. So the best advice I can give you is have some natural, some bright, and some dark. Try all the colors until you start getting bit. This is exactly what myself and all the other GSF Prostaffers do. When we all fish together, everyone use a different color until we can figure out what the trout want that day if all that makes sense

      Its just the action of the rod that’s probably causing that. I tend to like a little more whip than stiffness in my rods but thats just me. Keep fishing it for a while and you may get to where you like it. Alternatively you can buy another rod with more of a fast action (stiffer)

      The advice I usually give for the Sierras is try the more natural looking stuff first. Once in a while they get hot on the bright flashy stuff but usually the natural lookin stuff is the ticket. Move around alot. Most of those lakes get good stocks for the end of the season so if your not getting anything at your location go somewhere else. The trout will be out there.

    Nice NIN shirt.
    I have a question regarding the Runcl line. Recently a guide told me that Fluor- carbon coated line is the worst thing one can use as leader material. He said that as the mono stretches the fluorocarbon coating doesnt and thus cracks. He said this leaves your line - invisible, seen, invisible, seen as the line is viewed by the fish. I really like the runcl line. I use it on everything. I do catch more fish than my buddies that do not use runcl line but I think they just suck. lol. I wanted to get your thoughts on this cause I’m thinking of going to true Fluorocarbon line for my leaders. Thanks

    • @SeaSpankerOutdoors
      @SeaSpankerOutdoors  7 месяцев назад

      Very interesting but first ive heard of it. Its possible i guess but I haven’t noticed any issues fishing at all, hook up wise or breaking of the line. It just depends on how into the fishing line science you wanna get and what stuff gives you the most confidence. Ive put the RUNCL through some serious stress over the years and its top notch, especially for the price 🤘

      I really like the sienna. I own a 1000 series and it worked great when i was using it but Ive never used the 2500 version. I imagine its just as good as the 1000 it all depends on what you are going to use it fir and if the reel feel good to and how you like to fish 🤘

    would you say 10 lb braid is too large for the trout in the easterns? i could probably spool 180 or so yards? would be going to flouro leader 2-4 lb. first year trying braid, going in july 🤙🏽🤙🏽

    • @SeaSpankerOutdoors
      @SeaSpankerOutdoors  Год назад +1

      Yeah 10lb braid is a bit heavy if your throwing mini jigs. With bait and wait or spoons/spinners you could get away with it as long as your using a 2-4lb fluoro or mono leader.

    • @SeaSpankerOutdoors
      @SeaSpankerOutdoors  2 года назад +1

      No worries, not bothering me in the least. I totally remember that. I have some hearing damage so sometimes I dont catch everything. The sgt major just told me that someone was talking me and I heard her respond but I didn’t know what you said so I didn’t know what to say. Sorry bout that 😬. As far as the bite, I have some theories but no concrete evidence. Strongest theory is that due to the early heat wave the water warmed up fairly quickly but there is plenty of oxygen in the water due to the aerators so the trout have the option of going deep. So in the morning the bite is pretty good but as soon as it warms up the fish go deep until the afternoon bite. Im gonna be out there Friday with the fish finder so hopefully I’ll get some answers
