    Rob, dont forget the venerable maribou jig. I have probably caught more fish on a maribou then any other bait. Great video, informative as always

    This is my favorite way to fish for crappie and other smaller sunfish. I haven't tried it for trout yet, but it looks like I'll have to.

    Found some 5lb. line once, but have never seen it since.
    I'm pushing 80 and been fishing for over 70 of those years. Still learning from youngsters like you. I'm pretty sure your a better fisherman than me.😊

      Haha super happy to be called a youngster, don’t hear that as much as I used to. Yeah 5lb is still pretty rare. 4lb is close enough

    Great video!
    Just want to clarify that you only lift the rod to set the hook with J-hooks and lures using J-hooks.
    For circle hooks, you merely crank the reel to set the hook (you can skip the lifting of the rod). In fact if you lift the rod with circle hooks then you will fail to set the hook.

    • @SeaSpankerOutdoors
      @SeaSpankerOutdoors  Год назад

      Good to know. Actually a circle hook may work well for this technique, I just don’t know of any jig makers that use circle hooks in that small size

Keep these comin bro...lookin forward to the next installment. As always, Peace. ✌😎

      I really like Lake Mamie, Lundy Lake, & Little Virginia/ Big Virginia this time of year. The two main bait rigs I use up there are the Carolina rig and a basic bobber rig with a 4-5’ leader.
