    The 2500 HD ZR2 has hill descent management with speed control. Basically these numb skulls wouldn't have needed to stand on the brakes going down an obstacle. I believe that GM assumed that muppets like these guys actually paid attention to their product.

      Yes, I should have pressed a button to make it LESS involved! You're right! 😂 Spoilers, I didn't use it in this spot and neither did anyone else in the group. Wanna know how I know? Because the truck makes grinding and grumbling noises all the way down the mountain when you do. It works great, but everyone knows you're using it, 😉. Thanks for playing, though! 👊

      @@PNW_Bison The new hill decent in the Jeep Wrangler does the same thing and I hate it. @mjareacts2731 Yes, you wouldn't have to stand on the brakes, but that is because the truck is doing it for you. I can only imagine the amount of heat that causes to the brakes.

      @@PNW_Bisonbefore we go any further I wanted to actually add I'm a fan of you guys channel, so don't take my words to heart I'm a New Yorker. Now I have to admit this probably wasn't the best example of what this truck could be used for, I mean it is a 9,000 lb bohemoth. I'm actually getting one when they're available (not the Bison). I live in Texas, so the ZR2 2500 would make a fantastic overlander out here. Oh yeah, keep up the good work, and learn to take a joke!

    Another great review! I’d pick this over the Colorado ZR2 in a heartbeat haha. Better truck to build a dedicated camper.
    Not sure why everyone is making a big deal about front locker. Chances are you’ll never use it anyways (maybe when you need to crawl over those speed bumps at Starbucks you will 😂).
    I read on the spec sheet that Colorado ZR2 Bison is 80.4” wide without mirrors while the 2500 ZR2 Bison is like 81.4” wide or something. If that’s true then the width of these trucks don’t matter that much on a trail lol. The length definitely does on switchbacks.

    • @JasonExplainsThings
      @JasonExplainsThings  Год назад +2

      Yeah for it’s use case that decision makes sense. Also the price is high… but compared to luxury half tons… it all ends up being about the same. We’re definitely not the target audience. My camper trailer weighs 2500 lbs. But it’s very impressive.

  • @TREVORJB101

    For 97k, not sure why GM couldn't throw on a front locker like the rest of the ZR2 line.

    • @arielmillanao2441
      @arielmillanao2441 Год назад +2

      I heard they said, it's because they want to keep a good towing capacity, another locker requires more components and extra weight.

      Same reason there isn't a steel gas tank skid. It'd be too heavy and take away from payload... which is what these 2500 trucks are used for.

    • @aevnate4140
      @aevnate4140 Год назад +1

      I haven't heard why GM didn't include a front locker, but currently, there isn't a 3/4 ton diesel on the market that comes with one. I am guessing it has to do with the 975 lb-ft of torque.

    • @aevnate4140
      @aevnate4140 Год назад

      @@JasonExplainsThings Yup, the fuel tank skid will take away from the payload. It also has to do with how high they tuck the fuel tank underneath the vehicle and you will land on the frame before hitting the fuel tank.

    I suspect you guys were poking a little fun at this truck. And that's OK with me. Yes, it's big, kind of awkward and not the best for true off-roading. I'll admit that. But here's the point of the truck. And this is only my opinion... The ZR2 Bison 2500 is not so much about off-road capability as it is about being a gigantic truck. Guys like big trucks. I'll bet the average buyer of this truck never takes it off road (although some will). It's about the male-ego and the MASSIVE-NESS of this thing. I would buy it just because it's Massive!!! Love big trucks.

I think a truck like this would be great for getting your horse trailer out of the back field when it's a bit muddy out or taking your snowmobiles to the mountain pass. Actually, in my experience, heavy duty off road trucks really shine when used as work trucks. Yes, they’re good on off road trails that are as wide as an interstate, but they can’t be beat for ranch, farm, and construction work. When you have get a heavy load of equipment, materials, or hay over a steep muddy or snow covered road, across a muddy field, or any place not accessible by the average 4 WD truck, that’s the truck you want. The caveat here is that the truck really needs a front locker, so the Chevy and Ford HDs aren’t the best, but still much better than regular 4WDs.

      OK Ryan. This is a silly argument. They're cool tires either way. Says Mud Terrain clear as day in the section about the ZR2... linked here: www.chevrolet.com/trucks/silverado/2500hd-3500hd

    • @ryanolson8295
      @ryanolson8295 Год назад +1

      @@JasonExplainsThings I see, that is bad on their part. When you go into the build it no longer says mud terrain. I don't think it is silly at all, its no different than miss quoting any other spec and when someone doesn't say the correct thing, it casts doubt on review or demonstrates not a full understanding. I mean no offense and enjoy your videos! I just wanted to point this common mistake out. When a vehicle comes with actual mud terrains, it gives a clear message of the vehicles intent and creates and expectation of mud terrain tires, these tires just cause confusion.; perhaps Goodyear does this on purpose. You aren't the first nor will be the last to call them mud terrains but I see that is misinformation coming straight from GM.

    • @aevnate4140
      @aevnate4140 Год назад +2

      I think it's funny how every other tire company uses MT for mud terrains, and Goodyear is the only one who uses it for maximum traction. I guess you could say Goodyear no longer makes a mud terrain.

    That 6.6L gas engine... what is crazy is how that 2.7L turbo 4 engine that GM has come out with has 34 less torque. I know the 6.6L engine has 90 more HP, but still. Horsepower is a big jump, but... at the same time is it really? It's a truck, probably have a governor on it at around 105 mph.
    This truck really deserves to be spec'd with the diesel if you're choosing to get this monster.
