The AEV trim is INSANELY overpriced
2 bumpers, floor mats , and a transfer case shield for almost 10k smh
Nah... this Bison will be $$40,000 more than a Power Wagon... PW all day, every day!
Name of the game for all these new trucks
I was thinking that with no locker and leaf springs should come in cheaper.
@@travisv7233 Well, you also get different wheels. That totally makes it worth the money! And don't forget the special logos!
Great looking truck. I'd get one with the 6.6L gasser and WITHOUT the Bison edition. That would put the price point in a reasonable range and get you 90+% capability of this exact truck.
Not even a front locker for that price?
Chevy nailed it with this redesign of their HD trucks, especially with the Bison. I hated the previous version, but these look sweet.
Facts! I'm looking at trading my 2020 2500 for an at4 or maybe a zr2
I must be the only one who liked the old version.
I’ll go ahead and get one with a 30 year fixed interest rate mortgage.
I’m so disillusioned with trucks given how expensive they are. I wish I could afford something like this without having to sell an arm and a leg
I think you could probably get it with a kidney and have enough left over for one tank of fuel...
@@Pantelifts10
Quite the arrogant remark coming from a dude/dudette that is still living with mommy and daddy…
Always remember that the vast majority of these 6 digit trucks are LEASED not purchased… and those who do have a truck loan approaching 10 years at 10% interest…
What do you need a brand new truck like this for? Get you a 5-10+ year old diesel truck, save a shit ton and it will still get the job done.
Right like when I was a kid I figured I’d grow up and if I wanted soylike this I could buy it. Well a wife 2 kids and a mortgage later…. I like it, and I want one really bad but I don’t wanna drop that kind of money on a truck…
Excited to see the ultimate HD shootout from you guys. ZR2 vs Powerwagon vs Super Duty Tremor. Towing, tech and off-road comparison.
I think that would be cool. Get the cheapest one you can build for each and do a cost:performance analysis.
Right now, in Ontario, Canada, diesel fuel is 20% more expensive than regular fuel to purchase, then add DEF fluid and the extra cost of the diesel engine. I don't think it makes sense to buy the diesel version way too expensive to run.
And potential for emissions issues.
California diesel is pushing 6.00 and up, I went with a. 6.4 Ram and never looked back.. I am glad I did. I have no issues towing 4 snowmobiles or a car trailer.
It's always a math game. Does it get 20% better economy than the gas truck? How many miles per year are you driving? Are you financing that extra cost? Lots to consider. I went diesel for my last truck and even with higher fuel prices I'm still ahead but not by a lot. As for DEF cost, that's negligible unless you're towing constantly. Of course you may just prefer or need the extra power if you're doing that anyway.
Diesel is too heavy for off-roading. I use my diesel to tow my off-road toys
Agreed, unless you tow in mountains often. Double the torque and lower rpm torque, more HP and a diesel engine brake. I would love to purchase gas, cheaper, cheaper fuel, less maintenance, more payload, but alas we live in Idaho and tow all the time in the mountains and there is no substitute for diesel there
What if I want a front locker, sway bar disconnect, factory winch, RPI score over 500? Power Wagon
this Bison will be $$40,000 more than a Power Wagon... PW all day, every day!
What if I want a truck that can actually haul and tow like an HD should while still being plenty capable off-road for 95% of buyers. Power Wagon is essentially a heavy duty half ton.
It's impressive, but it really demonstrates why the power wagon has reduced payload. That Chevy has almost Zero flex. Not taking away from this, it will go places but watching the power wagon videos it seems more crawl able. (I own neither-just enjoying the vid)
It has to do with Chevy using torsion bar ifs instead of a solid axle like ram and ford
I just figured it was heavier rate springs.
There is no flex because they are using an IFS and heavy duty springs in the rear to maintain payload capacity. The Power Wagon doesn't have the same payload as a regular 2500 because it has different radius arms and springs, but it can flex like no tomorrow because of the 5-link rear, solid axle and disconnecting front swaybar.
The power wagon also weighs less and even they struggle on some hills
It will flex more with weight on it. Add a couple thousand pounds to it like it's built to carry and it will ride smoother and flex more. Most people get heavy-duty trucks for pulling or carrying.
9:37 IN TODAYS EPISODE STRONG MAN ANDRE LIFTS 8,700 LBS WORTH OF TRUCK WITH HIS BARE HANDS!
Proper comparison would be ZR2 Bison Vs. the Ram AEV Prospector XL
Nah it would be the HD Rebel. The pxl is an upfit kit on 40s with body work, not a direct from the dealer trim kit
So tired of hearing people complain about expensive top trim trucks like they’ve got a right to afford one. Do yall complain about exotic car prices too?
One of the best things about the last gen tundra was the short hood that sloped quickly. These latest trucks have giant square hoods that are worse in every measure. Can’t see anything. A camera that demands I focus on an interior screen is not an ok band aid.
Chevy all the way
While I applaud OE manufacturers producing off road focused vehicles with lifts, armour, etc….the prices are ridiculously out of range of the average truck buyers.
That is why base model trucks exist
Or can wait a few years and get it at a lower price. Either way, let's appreciate that they are making them. 😊
This is clearly not competitive to the Power Wagon off-road, but the die-hard Chevy fans at least have an option this way.
Starting" at 72k! Cool truck but I'll stick with my old 2500 bought new for 27k in 2000...
Less than 800 miles on the truck and Andre is thrashing it in Johnson Valley, CA. Love this!
Seeing more and more HD trucks being used as Overland vehicles. This vehicle with the Duramax is almost a perfect rig for that.
It is because of the payload and diesel fuel range. Too bad the trucks end up being so heavy though.
@@The_Opinion_of_Matt yeah. Everything except fords seem to be heavier.
Meh. My 1976 w200 big block 4 speed powerwagon would still out do any new junk today.
Stay FAR away from anything GM builds it is absolute garbage!
Watching reviews on trucks like this is like watching reviews on Porsches 20 years ago. They’re fun and exciting but pretty unobtainable anymore if you make less than 6-digits a year. The American car and truck market is a sad state of affairs now days.
I won’t buy one way too much money and I make 170k a year and my house is paid off. Nope
My ‘10 Tacoma has hill descent control. It’s the pedal between the brake and clutch.
What is most impressive, is the fact it made it off the dealers lot without a burned out headlight! Watch out Power Wagon? HaHa.
I have been converted from GM to Ram, how is the modern duramax? Good ??
4:23 week it looks built well enough to get towed out of the ditch in one piece 😆
My F250, 7.3L gas Tremor is 1700 lbs lighter. With rack, RTT all my camping gear, it's still 200 lbs lighter. Never thought, I'd use Superduty and lighter in the same sentence. Nice truck, none the less, was wondering when GM was going to join the chat.
Needs another 3in in liftand 37s. And rock sliders
I bought the RAM PowerWagon Rebel with a CUMMINS and a straight axle up front.
A shot of the camera view would have been nice. I wonder how many people will be rock crawling their 90k pickup…
My truck is bigger than your truck
Beautiful truck.. this type of driving is suited for low gearing and gas engine though
That is one ugly truck!
Prices - especially - are blowing up💸💸💸!!!
Those drumstick tie-rods will snap soon as there's any real challenge on the front tires.
IFS tie rod ends snapped on me.. Solid Axle is better
@@TaigaTurf Death wobble is an issue with Super Duty (especially if they are lifted).
@@ramaswamynarayanaswamy4806 IFS almost did too when the tie rod ends snapped while driving
All of these 3/4 ton off road trucks are awesome. The choice will come down to what your specific needs or wants are. For me, I have to go with the Power Wagon. It’s less capable in some departments for sure, but for me, the front locker is an absolute necessity because I use it for ranch work, and that truck will tow it’s 10,000 lbs anywhere I need to go, ( sometimes with multiple trips)which is up and down steep, muddy, snow covered dirt roads as well as sloppy pastures. Also, as a life time truck owner, it seems to me that the 6.4 Hemi mated with the ZF8 transmission is an incredibly reliable combination. Having said that, you really can’t go wrong with any of these trucks. They are all incredible.
Glad to see you're planning on comparison video on all cool new trucks in this segment. I can't wait!!!! I'm a slut for trucks. I have almost zero brand loyalty. Tuff, Solid, Dependable.
I the frame is bad about retaining mud, and where are the places it likes to hide the most.?
Perhaps advisory on truck cleaning and maintenance video would be good for you guys to do a lot of new truck owners bought trucks would have never been down underneath.
8500 lbs off-road you gonna need to add a winch to get anywhere
Where’s the lockers and sway bar for that price with more underneath protection. With all the motor problems and cheap interior why should I pay that price
Why do you gripe when you have choices? If you do not like it you do not have to buy it or watch it.
That nose heavy aspect off-road,,,,, it becomes fully too much of an issue. Even the HD gas trucks are just too heavy overall, but better. The Power Wagon with its 2 lockers, live axels and just how everything works together. It IS a great off-road truck! It is not really a HD truck anymore though. Barely a heavy half ton. Towing & payload are seriously hampered.
To be a true ZR2, like the current mid size and 1/2 ton models, I believe dual front & rear selectable lockers are in order.
The ZR2 Bison Diesel fully loaded is likely to be near, if not over, $120,000 Canadian!!! They will sell, but are “halo” truck prices for a #3 truck (basically). Just due to the physics of the Ram, then the Ford with seriously enhanced front differentials, the Chevy has to be #3. Can’t fight physics,, which is why gas HD trucks are challenging, and diesel HD trucks are not great at all. Fun climbing over rocks with a diesel though. Put everything in low gear, let the truck idle with the brakes off and just go!!! 😊
You guys and a few others are best place to go for answers to our truck questions, doesn't matter what make, often what year, cause you guys have bought older trucks, repaired them, and evaluated them for all of us. Thanks guys.
Just checking, did Andre ever get cruise control installed on this brand new truck? How much trouble was it? And how much did it cost.? If he did, then I missed the video.🤠🤓😎
What's with the mismatched tailgate? It looks like a junkyard replacement.
It's a GM product... what did you expect.
@@mpeugeotbut yet you watched.
Really enjoying the manufacturers and dealers crushing the dreams of middle class people…kind of like watching a years long sinking of the Titanic…
Nice to see that GM now pre-rusts the frame rails.
Yes! It's so that you won't be disappointed when your $90k truck has rust on the frame in 2 years, you'll already be used to the "special coating" from the factory on day 1😂
Its not rust its dust ... geezus guys
Have they actually started to paint/e-coat/powdercoat the frames yet? Or are they still just spraying some waxy oil on them and calling it 'good enough'?
It’s dust stuck to the wax coating
Sorry this ain't a Toyota
Eagerly awaiting the comparo between this in a V8, the GMC AEV and the Powerwagon.
IFS is trash. Owned them and they suck unless you live on the pavement. Powerwagon BLOWS this the dust
Laughable. There is only one Power Wagon, nobody competes. Only one Raptor, nobody competes. Chevy has just been half assing it while Ford and Dodge went all in respectively.
Hmm surprised GM didn’t have a prehistoric animal to name this rather an animal that literally almost got hunted to extinction for being a big-lack of better works “brain dead animal” unlike our prehistoric friends who only were whipped out by EP.. I mean unforeseen events.. sadly
Dont see a point for that locker when the z71 has a good auto locker. This truck doesn't have much mechanical advantages over regular 2500
This looks good. But ill stick with my Power Wagon as my overland rig / jack of all trades truck. Power Wagon dont care.
"I'm going about 40 45 mph!" Showes true speed at 18 to 23 mph😂
How is anyone going to hook a chain into these recovery points on these bumpers with these holes that are so small ? Seems like someone wasn’t really considering using them . I mean I suppose a huge Clevis would be necessary.Serious question !
2023 2500HD LT Z71 6.6 gasser owner here. I get a lot appreciation from folks that describe her as a well optioned work truck. She is by far my favorite truck I’ve owned so far. The only thing I’m jealous of is how did you get to air down and not have a TPMS light on the dash! I hate that light when aired down and the stupid info center warnings.
Yep, I noticed too that on the door sticker its saying only 55PSI. Our trucks are 60PSI front and 70Rear. Difference between 305/70R18 and 275/70R18. 35s with a higher load index... might be the next tire size I try. Only worried about the factory rims not being wide enough for a 305, but idk.
Hows the mileage on the new gasser? (better than the 6.0?)
@@rj8372I'm curious too
funny how the Ram HD Rebel has been quickly forgotten
Watching from KENYA 🇰🇪
Big miss not having a front locker on the zr2
If you could tame that rear end offroad, but then it would massively decrease towing
Where do these manufacturers think everybody is working or is making $300,000/year. ? With inflation, home mortgage, home, car, health insurance, kids, and trying to save money for retirement. I just don't understand.!
Don't worry. Kamala is going to fix our economy. 😂
LOL, a "heavy duty" truck with a lower payload capacity than my 12 year old F-150... GM is catching up! LMFAO.
@@Pantelifts10 I know it's odd that a 12 year old vehicle is still relevant when Chevy trucks are lucky to make it 3 or 4 years.
The Power Wagon wins off road because of front locker... but Chevy wins as a truck because it maintains good payload and towing, unlike the Ram
Mine has a front & rear locker
GM just refuses to get away from that crappy independent suspension. That junk doesn’t even belong on a half ton, much less an HD pickup.
It is actually fairly strong. Yes it was weak in early versions though. And the solid axle is prone to death wobble.
It is not even hit 1000 pounds of torque yet
Silverado es Silverado el poder américano haciendo historia.... Que belleza de Camioneta 😍 la Silverado es la ganadora
Hello Andre,
Greetings from Colorado!
Nice truck. I have the 2024 HD 4x4, with the 8’ bed.
By the way, I don’t see Roman or Tommy.
Have they moved?
Best regards,
Awesome ride
We want a Ford Excursion with the 6.7 High Output
No, we don't.
There are fleet markets in in the oil and gas industry and perhaps mining and power generation that will buy these at huge fleet discounts. The segment of the population that simply has to have a truck like that to tower over everybody else in the Walmart parking lot will pay through the nose. Anything new we have not seen before?
I really wish these companies would offer their off-road trim/options with double cab /extended cab trucks. I don't really need a big back seat anymore, I'd rather have the shorter wheelbase on the HDs or longer bed on the lighter duty trucks.
Looks nice
Might be interested but Chevy, like all other brands, won't offer these in an extended cab version; only crewcab. In HD pickups, the extended cab standard bed is shorter wheelbase and overall than the crewcab with standard bed. For overlanding with light slide-in or flatbed pickups campers, one wants a short of wheelbase as possible. That these are only available in crew cab takes them off of a lot of overlanders list as an option. so we'll keep buying extended cabs or standard cabs and building up the suspension, wheels, tires, skid plates, front and rear bumpers, winches, etc. on our own.
All the Silverados have Auto, my High Country 2500HD also has it.
Watch out Power Wagon fans, if you have an extra $120,000 this might be the better truck for you!
Who is actually willing to take a brand new 75k truck on any serious off-road terrain/trails!?!?
Wait so you’re saying that with auto mode you don’t need to select 4L or 4H when needed? Please explain? Also not AEV edition does it come with gas tank skid plates? because off roading gas tank protection needed. Also how do you feel between the AT4x HD and this one which one do you think its worth its price more?
I can see now why Ram never put a diesel in the PW. price and weight. This is a niche vehicle for select buyers and most will probably not buy it for regular offroading (technical trails and rock crawling). Its just too big and really more capable than it should be. Though nice to have if you need all this extra stuff, its more of a gotta have the best trophy truck or better suited for an overland camper. The colorado zr2 is a much better trail rig. As far as hd's go i kind of think the power wagon is still best off road due to weight, winch, full lockers and disconnecting sway bar. The one thing chevy should have for this price is retractable steps bc thats gotta be at least a 2ft step up.
They can keep it!!! Why to over priced for pavement pounder! That truck is for Mr Jones 💰
What’s absolutely embarrassing is the lack of weight a Silverado tailgate can hold - go look it up.
IFS is never going to articulate well if it has a sway bar. Gotta disconnect the sway bar is you really care. And better yet, run a rear sway bar with the front sway bar disconnected so the front suspension is forced to flex a bit more.
nothing to protect the rocker panels on this model.
OK it's a beautiful truck, that's what matters.
How come TFL no longer does their local offroad loop?
This is a chevy event. They didn't get to pick where they go.
8500 lbs! The mid 2000's Chevy HD with Duramax was 1000+ lbs less. Where did it pick up so much weight?
It’s bigger dimensionally, has bigger tires, solid bumpers, more features, emissions systems, likely heavier frame/components for the addition capability. Everything adds up.
Now if Chevy would only make a Diesel ZR-2 Bison in regular cab!
Андрюшка, где в Одессе в high scool ходил, признайся губошлюпу
It has just as much flex as any torsion bar IFS vehicle on heavy duty springs.
Yea, no one is doing this with these trucks who are we kidding. People are buying them because they like how they look.
Why buy? Just rent for a couple weeks when on vacation.
Charlie Sheen just entered the conversation. 😂
Surprisingly this truck didn't have any rock sliders on both sides to protect the sides from the rocks.
I can understand this being like 75k or anything above it is outrageous
Do an off road video with a camper or a travel trailer
Any word on your Colorado?
Nobody can afford these trucks!!!
I don't think the power wagon has anything to worry about. 😅
Your right. Rams aren't selling.
Just dropping the dodge name hasn't helped. 😂
This particular version of the truck would look great towing all those handy-man trailers of every variety that I see constantly, cause those want to be seen in a great looking truck, with a cool company Logo on the side of it. Another super nice vehicle.
How can roman still shill this GM crap? Line workers at GM can't even afford the product they build...and they know this is crap. How's that Chevy immobile modern art doing in your driveway? I've owned a Chevy....but, I have the integrity not to encourage others to make the same bad decision.
Read up on the recent UAW strike.
Some of these fools are making $80- 150,000.
And asking for a 40% raise and 4 day work week.
That's partly why trucks are overpriced
Did anybody else notice all the rust on the frame?
Can you review a single cab dually work truck?
Too bad no 3500 series availability yet.
Pretty dumb that they don’t offer it with a long bed
You guys are in my backyard haha maybe I should go crusie the trails in my 2003 Blazer ZR2 lul goin Bizon hunting haha Big Long wide nd Heavy not really ideal on the trails
