- Find out how the New York Islanders lucked into a superstar thanks to 19 other teams! When the Islanders traded back with Chicago from 18th to 20th they did not think they would have the opportunity to draft a player like Cole Eiserman. Don't miss out-hit subscribe for more wild NHL tales!

The Red Wings drafted Danielson in 2023, and entire year before Eiserman was available

He still went top 10 though. That a lot better than falling to 20th.
The amount of logic loops you jump through comparing him to players not in his draft class… 19 teams passed on him, to include the team that drafted Celebrini. Ok
Cole Eiserman will be a Superstar in the NHL
Demidov at 5 seems a pretty big steal. Luke Misa at 150th is pretty good, and don't forget Aaron Kiviharju going in the fourth round.
Yea I wanted to keep it from someone who was potentially top 3 or so. But Demidov IMO was more of a sure thing top 5. And I will look into those other names and possibly make a video, thank you for taking the time to watch.
Everyone isn’t losing their minds over the Eiserman pick.
The Islanders had Anders Lee score 40 goals in 2017-2018, it's been 6 years, not decades
Konsta Helenius was drafted 14th by the Buffalo Sabres, not 15th by the Nashville Predators.
Anders Lee scored 40 in 2018.
because he had Taveres on his line
Eiserman is no where near close to ovi 😂 ovi is one of the best at making his own shot… eiserman lacks that. While ovi is known for his one timer, ovi is actually a really undervalued passer. He would rather score than pass, but his passes are still leaps and bounds above eiserman.
Edit: eiserman would be on the right circle for one timers, he’s left handed. You play off handed for one tees on the powerplay.
early in his career Ovi was a really good at shooting in general not just his slapshot and his hands were slick as hell.
Man was a highlight reel early in his career.
Born in 2026!??? This guy hasn’t even been conceived yet
Mistakes happen
He was born in the future? That’s some real talent.
Where we're going we dont need ROADS.
Nate Danielson was drafted last season for Detroit and helenious was drafted by Buffalo. I agree he was a steal but please do your homework
but were they both projected top 1-2 picks before the season?
still a top 10 pick though. Cole was 20th lmao. horrible fall.
Sliding down in the draft may be disappointing to a player the day of the draft, but it's really a good thing because the further he slides, the better the team he is going to. Take another Islander pick from long ago. Mike Bossy slid to 15th his draft year while being the best goal scorer in juniors. Nobody picked him because he "couldn't play defense". In sliding down he went to a team on the verge of winning 4 straight Stanley Cups. He could have been picked by the Colorado Rockies instead and played his career with a team that struggled to win 20 games a season.
Usually when a player falls that far there's a better reason than "one dimensional" I wouldn't bank on this guy until we see how he handles the pro game
Fantastic AAA one-timer, Great A+ wrist shot, A-level body/frame, mid-level B hockey IQ at current level (could improve), low to mid C+ skating talent, C- low defensive talent. That's why he was not a top 8 draftee. Could he be THE 2024 draft steal? Sure - but to do so he needs major (MAJOR!) improvements to be able to follow NHL-level talent.
I hope this video will age well
Me and You Both hahahaha!
If the islanders actually develop him and do it properly to adapt to the NHL then he will have a good chance and also fix their roster hopefully soon
@@outcast480 agreed. Isles gotta do it right or its a waste.
I think his draft interviews didn't help him. Successful teams are made up of team first players. You don't want to see your star chasing a personal record and passing a chance to rest for the playoffs.
Pump the breaks with this stuff. We hear this every year about some prospect who is supposedly the next great sniper and everyone is dumb for passing. Then 5 years later the player is still in minors.
We shall see, no?
@@ClappinBiscuits absolutely, but making this video at this point is premature.
@@Starroftheshowas a Devils fan, already Alex Holtz flashbacks 😂💀
Mike Bossy at 15 was a pretty big steal
@@joefriday7609 ok?
Strangely contentious player. His numbers are so damn good... I think he was a steal for the Islanders. He seems way too motivated to not succeed at some level in the NHL. Reminds me of when teams were scared of drafting Cole Caufield.
As an Islander fan, I'm glad we got a sniper. We got enough playmakers in the top 6 & need more shooters not passers.
Really hope this praise is justified & the video ages even half as good as you say he is.
Same lol. Isles fan as well. Compelling player, great for content.
19 people passing on free pizza? It’s really 19 people passing on free pizza for other free food. Typically much more interesting food
miracle Islanders got him…just like miracle they made playoffs with worst PK in NHL ..this is an absolute steal
Although eiserman has a great shot I wouldn’t put in the same tier as someone like bedard or matthews
Agreed.
First Raty and now Eiserman. Isles have been fortunate in grabbing good talent that falls to them.
Lou not afraid to grab those types it seems.
@@ClappinBiscuits With all of those traded first round picks from the last few years he has no choice. But I'm glad it worked out. Been too long since I've seen the Isles win a cup. I was 10 when I began watching in 1981.
I don't know about Raty as an example, though the Canucks thought enough of him to trade Bo Horvat to the Islanders for him. In that way Raty was a good pick for the Islanders.
Buffalo got konsta Helenius at 14, not nashville. Nate Danielson was picked 9th in 2023, detroit picked nygaard at 15th. Yikes dude do your homework
why would I go back a year to talk about this draft.
I don't know why this guy is doubling down on his mistake. You did go back a year watch ur video bro
Ivan Demidov at #5 is EASILY the biggest steal of the draft. He was supposed to go at #2 but he dropped because of the Russian factor. Demidov is a much better more complete 200 foot player than Cole Eiserman. Demidov can do it all: He has amazing hands, a great shot, has great vision, is a terrific playmaker and he's very solid in his own end as he backchecks ferociously. Eiserman is an elite sniper with a great shot but he has some serious work to do on the other aspects of his game - which explains why he dropped so far.
A steal wouldnt come at 5 in most cases. But I understand.
Caufield is a better player overall than Eiserman, even if he's a bit smaller.
The goalie? or Cole? Cole was drafted 2019 this is about this draft though.
@@ClappinBiscuits I'm talking about similar palyer, Caufield too, broke all the scoring records, Caufield had a similar story to Eiserman.
GMs takin potential 3rd line forwards ahead of a potential 50 goal scorer.
1:31 Laced his SCATES??? lol
we know relax, it slipped through.
@@ClappinBiscuits It's still funny to see 'skate' misspelled by a hockey expert.
Anders Lee scored 40 in 17-18
You think this 17 year old has the best shot since Ovi? Have you never heard of Pasternak, Draisaitl, Bedard, or Bouchard?
Born 2026? So he isn’t born yet? 😝
Easy, his work ethic. Apparently his work ethic is shit and he was obsessed with getting the goal scoring record that he didn't bother to improve his game.
Born in August 2026?
Skates** 😅 1:33
