- You definitely didn't think it would be a great season for the San Jose Sharks this season... But nobody could've predicted it'd be THIS bad. The Sharks have only scored 12 goals this season, while surrendering 55 goals against. As well as getting blown out in TWO straight games. They are on pace to potentially be the WORST regular season team in NHL history.

@TheGotoGeek that's how I felt cheering the canes on in the 2010's I remember being happy that we weren't dead last in the league and super happy when we hit the 25th spot on the standings.
As a sharks fan I’m honestly not even surprised. We did terrible last year and we traded away all our good players for no name players.
I strongly agree to that. Me and my father got hoodies and loved the sharks winning game after game. But now it seems the HR department just traded good players for asshatz, my new fav team I'm rooting for now is Seattle Krakens. I lost all hope in the sharks

This was done by design, just incase anyone who doesn’t follow the Sharks knows. They aren’t “trying to win”, and it worked. We got the 1st overall pick and franchise center man in Celebrini (to be drafted)

Yeah but the very next season they made the playoffs, beat the Detroit Red Wings who had Yzerman and Fedorov etc in the first round and took my Leafs (Gilmour, Clark, Potvin, Andreychuk etc) to Game 7 in the second round where we beat them, but they were so close to knocking us out in 6 games when Johan Garpenlöv hit Potvins post in OT minutes before the Leafs scored the winner to take it to 7.
As a fan from those days, yeah, it was bad. The upside was that you could hang around the back of the Cow Palace and get players to sign things.
The sharks were an expansion team in the early nineties. It was only recently that expansion teams do so well so quickly. It used to have to take a decade
That was before the league decided it needed an instant winner in Vegas.

Rules for expansion teams changed since the Sharks became a team in 1991. The Minnesota North Stars split up and became the San Jose Sharks and Dallas Stars. Diiferent rules back then. Can't compare to todays' Expansion teams that have easier time to get good players right away.

When they had Owen Nolan, he was my favorite player back in then. I think he was traded to Toronto in '03.

It's not from a lack of talent. Check out those early Capitals teams of the 70s. They will always be the worst NHL team of all time to me. Specially the 74/75 team. Not because they only won 8 games all year. They had a horrible roster of cast-offs, career minor leaguers, and a 42 year old Doug Mohns.

Great logo, cool colours but San Jose is an awful town for a hockey team. It's a sin expansion teams have gone to these types of cities in the states. Canada only having 7 teams is a joke. I always wished a team out in eastern Canada would get a franchise. If I had my way and politics and money didn't figure in, I'd have every province represented. Even north western territories. It was cool when Winnipeg got their team back. Would be neat to see Nordiques come back.
But had a better year in 94. Teams go through this. It's how they come back is what you look at. Ottawa, Buffalo, Montreal, Chicago are still trying to fix teir teams. San Jose will be fine. Washington will still go down as the worst season with their first 2 years .
