      @@devdev5392 this is irrelevant to the Montreal/Caufield discussion but I'd personally have Zegras over Cozens. Cozens has really only had one good season, there's a larger sample size of Zegras being a more impactful player throughout his career up to this point.
      This isn't directed at you but it feels like many are using the recency bias of this past year to try and validate their preconceived notions about Zegras being "not good" or "overrated" all while they blatantly ignore the context of him beginning the season with a groin injury which hindered his production early on, then obviously he breaks his ankle later in the year.
      Zegras had 8 points over his final 8 games to finish the year and showed tangible improvements in his 200 ft game whenever he was in the lineup, and even added layers to his offensive game when he began generating off the cycle. I'm a Cozens fan don't get me wrong but I personally think Zegras is a lot more dynamic and there hasn't been a large discrepancy in their career defensive numbers up to this point either.

I'm talking about guys with legit 70 present projectable star potential(demidov, (Hagens, Martone, Frondel, Misa 2025)). I *like* draft year Demidov more than draft year Michkov. He's showing more straight skill, more creativity, more physicality, and a better motor. But we didn't get to see Demidov play against KHL opponents that much. If I had to pick, I would choose Michkov still because of the better profile. They're both extremely smart players.

    • @Kshahdoo67

      @@davidst-louis8315 Michkov is too unique to understand his game, Demidov is more conventional player, and his game is easier to understand. That's why a lot of people love him more than Michkov. It's a mistake though to think Demidov is going to be better than Michkov. I personally very doubt it. They both can become NHL superstars, like, say, Kucherov and Panarin. But I think nobody will hesitate who to choose between these two, and Michkov is as close to Kucherov by talent as possible. Truthfully, I think he is high end to the extent that he could and should be a very good player; however, I also rebuke the notion that we've never seen anybody like him before. I think it's closer to the antithesis than the thesis here. outside of the fact that guys have open hip edge work and attacking the triangle down to a science before they hit junior, he looks A LOT like a 17 year old Nikita Filatov. I think we saw our fair share of guys that played the game like Demidov roughly 15 years ago/as the game and its talents adjusted to each other early in the post-lockout landscape. I think there is a reason for that, and I think there is a reason why we havent seen it in a while.There were some uber talented guys that dazzled their way into the top 10 picks of drafts and it became apparent that the guys who had the requisite skill to replicate it up at the NHL level did really well. Equally apparent: The guys that couldn't quite hack it when asked to do it with consistency against heightened NHL caliber defending were pretty useless in an nhl game that was was starting to get faster, but was just as different when compared to the clutch and grab play of the decade prior, as it is when compared the the open north-south hockey of todays NHL game in 2024. Now with the game even more open, you've see the archetype shift to guys more akin to Jack Huges or Logan Cooley. With those kind of guys, the separation in created through the neutral zone and by stretching out defenses to the point where they can make plays from more open space rather than requiring the precise hands to turn defenders inside out with frequency in order to get just enough separation to create an opportunity.

    • @davidst-louis8315
      @davidst-louis8315 27 дней назад +3

      All good points. And it's why there's more risk with Demidov's projection. He's a dangler more than crossover rusher (Berkly Catton). You can make the bet that's going to adapt and/or that his skills are so high-level that he will find ways to make them work anyway.

    I think he will go second especially since he only has one year left. But will he extend ? Personally I think Connelly is very similar and peeps are sleeping on him. Will be interesting who the Hawks take given they need size on the front and a future RHD.

  • @Sgt.Hairclub
    @Sgt.Hairclub 23 дня назад

    The Hawks desperately need a dynamic threat to take pressure off of Bedard. Teams were just focusing on Bedard and daring the rest of the team to beat them. A guy like Demidov or even Eiserman would demand respect and give Bedard room. Room which would be devastating!
