Stay loyal to yourself, not because you should do it only after marriage. But because if for any reason he lets you down, you’ll feel like you let yourself down. Great idea, probably my best tip is to take improv classes. It gets you out of your comfort zone and throws you into the deep end. If you can do improv, you can speak to anyone, anywhere, about anything. You have slayed the ultimate dragon! 🐉
I am 1000% getting a prenup when I get engaged. I used to think it was unromantic but you can put whatever you want into it with the help of an attorney to protect yourself in case things go south. Plan for the worst, hope for the best. That way if you do get divorced, you have a document to rely on that you both agreed to when you were in love and not try to duke things out when you’re mid divorce and can’t stand each other. Edit: no, pre nups are not just for rich people (people can become rich later in life and or have inheritances) and of course no contract is ironclad *but* it’s better to have something rather than nothing.

And (in most states), a shared home still would be evenly split regardless of which spouse purchased (even if she/he purchased the home before the marriage). If you have money or come from family money, having your money and home in a protected trust is better idea. If you are not the one with the money, a good idea is to include terms in the event of a divorce. If your spouse is the breadwinner, but you are contributing non-quantifiable things (cooking, cleaning, child care….. which puts your own career on hold), it would be smart to have a prenuptial agreement that protects you in the event of divorce.
In order for our pastor to marry us, we went through Christian couples counseling and it was so great!!! Not only was is fun, but we learned so much more about each other and what we really wanted (and did not want) from our marriage. They have not been dating long enough to be getting married, and they have NOT spent enough time together that does NOT involve concert tours, and football. These two getting engaged would be the stupidest decision of all time. They have not been dating long enough to be getting married, and they have NOT spent enough time together that does NOT involve concert tours, and football. She’s basically been on tour their whole relationship! Life is not always exciting, and you have to ask yourself “Am I really going to want to spend boring Sunday afternoons with this person for the rest of my life?”. They have literally had NO actual downtime together, and those are the times where you really learn about someone, and see who they really are. So stupid!

Hi Shallon! Would you consider doing a related video to this on where to meet marriage material men? I have been doing dating apps on & off for a few years, & haven’t really found what I’ve wanted for a long term partner. I miss organic connections & keep hoping I’ll meet someone in real life or while doing a hobby I love, but it hasn’t happened yet. I’ve been doing the apps but I’ve mostly just met guys who aren’t serious or are just wanting to play the field. I’m ready for the next part of my life, I just feel like the only thing missing is the right partner.
Marriage is about a match. So it's not really that simple as to tell you where to meet your match without knowing your psychological profile and therefore the possible profile of a good husband for you. I, for instance, don't vibe with men who use dating sites but my friend is married to one she met on dating for spiritual people. I am married to a man who would never use a dating app, it's just far removed from his personality and so he is a good match for me. Of course I'm simplifying it a lot, because there is more to a match. Just an example.
I would suggest getting off the apps- you’re most likely not going to find a loyal marriage type guy on there

When I go to restaurants, most men are there on dates. When I’ve gone to church, it was mostly just families or men with their wives. I’ve joined sports leagues & most of the time if there is a guy he’s doing the sport league with his girlfriend or wife. I’ve volunteered (not for the purpose of meeting someone) but haven’t met anyone my age there. Work is mostly all older people than me. I’ve gone to coffee shops & never have had anyone come up to me. Guys at bars are usually drunk or sleazy. I make eye contact with guys sometimes at the gym, but they never come over.
