If anyone is curious if this actually works, all let you know my performance. So far, this does help free up RAM for me. Although, if you love how the text looks for you, it becomes pixelated at 3:15 from what I have seen. It could also be some other option in the services.

The question should be “did this speed up my system overall?” And the answer is No because Window is designed to release RAM, CPU/HD data when needed/required. I benchmarked both scenarios with zero gains.

Your CPU performance is peaking at 100% (maybe because it was doing the full scan).. But in mine, it was 27-36% and dropped to 6-9% after the configuration you showed us. RAM usage didn't changed because I am running Chrome with almost 30 tabs open. But overall I like this tutorial.. Thanks..

If you find that disabling SysMain/Superfetch improves your system, you may have other problems than that service. Get a better processor/ computer. Make sure you have enough RAM in the computer. Make sure you run your OS from an SSD. Don't stack antiviruses one on top of the other (if you have decent internet browsing all you need is Windows Defender). Run sfc /scannow to repair your Windows (do that anyway once in a while). If that doesn't want to finish elegantly run dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth (check the syntax) then run sfc /scannow again. Remember that some applications are poorly written (Windows Updater or Steam downloader do a poor job at using Background I/O Priority, other applications have memory leaks and/or end up using the swap, and so on...). Once a week (in fact, depending on your computer usage) RESTART the computer, shutting it down is not enough as it doesn't kill every process out here. Don't wait to restart the computer after updates.
SysMain/Superfetch actually improves your computer behavior. Disabling it just masks deeper problems.

    • @EATHECAKE
      @EATHECAKE Год назад +1

You are totally right about not disabling those services if not necessary (putting to much load @ cpu). If it does tho you have a really shitty CPU.
Superfetch actually helps to speed up the PC with opening some apps or somthing like that so you want it on if you can.

It would be nice to have a cheat sheet of the process pinned to the top of the comments...i.e Services/Sysmain [Stop], [Startup/Manual], ....
That would remind people what settings were changed and how to change them back if necessary.

Disable sysmain There are no side effects if you decide to turn it off.If your system is running well, leave it on. But if you have high HDD usage issues, high RAM usage,or degraded performance during RAM-heavy activities, try turning it off and see if it helps. If it does, keep it off.

Did you know that if you’re still using a computer with a hdd not an ssd you can short stroke it
This means creating a smaller partition for the C drive and using other partitions for actual storage. This way the Hard Disk drive head doesn’t need to move as much and can increase performance and reduce the amount of time the computer takes to fully load everything from the initial startup. This is ineffective on Solid State Drives as a drive like this does not have anything mechanically operated within it.
Overall this video explains excellently how to get the full potential out of a computer. Also I can also mention that if you’re using a laptop you can use power options via control panel, click change plan settings on current power plan option and finally click on change advanced power settings. At this stage you can change power settings on windows this way to your desired settings. This can be a great way to improve performance or battery life if you’re using an old laptop running an older version of Windows like Windows 8.1 all the way down to windows vista (not sure about Windows xp) this should be a great tool to get the most out of your computer

If you really need a fresh feel of windows without losing files, just reinstall windows itself (keep files only)
Sometimes, programs mess up the registry thus causing system errors and so on. It would be hard to trace all the possible issues one by one.
This video would help, unless all else fails, reinstalling windows would greatly fix major issues.

Instead of turning things off after an installation it's much more effective to pay attention while installing and not click click click done.
IT nerds can do this, because they know their shit, normal users shouldn't, but they do.
That's why the tray is as long as the Chinese Wall and their Autostart is filled with unnecessary crap.
Adobe is one of the worst here.
Try deactivating their updater service for good. You won't manage to do that!
The only thing I can think of to accomplish this is to uninstall adobe products.
That's also valid for other software, where the alternative doesn't suck.

Thanks anyway, I was able to fix the pixelated text by going back into Advanced System Settings in PERFORMANCE, then Untick SMOOTH EDGE FONTS, then Tick SMOOTH EDGE FONTS, then restart, and that fixed it.
BTW none of your steps above boosted the performance, however I remembered someone once told me to Run services.misc, then Disable "System Events Notification Service" and that helped. There was another item to select and disable but I don't know which one it is. Could you think of it or any other selection to disable, much appreciated.
