So after years of facing thsi problem i finally found out the solution.Just change the the hard disk. Else if you cant then keep the laptop open for 30 mins before u use it . I GUARANTEE IT WILL BE FIXED
I had that issue with a Kingston SSD that was just six months old. Disk usage was 100%, but barely any data was read or written, slowing down the computer. SMART data was completely fine, but the windows event viewer showed a lot of errors and also said that it's probably a hardware defect. I had to replace it to solve the issue. The lesson here is: even if CrystalDiskInfo or the software from the manufaturer say the SSD is fine, it still can be faulty.
i have the exact same ssd and the same problem. when i download the disk reach 100% and stops working. are u sure that the only solution is to change the disk?
I'll keep all this in mind in case it happens again. I used to have this problem with ANY spinning mechanical drive I used, but after upgrading to SSD that doesn't seem to be an issue anymore. It boots up in under 30 seconds, and 10 seconds after the desktop has loaded, it's ready to go. I still have 1 mechanical drive in my pc but that's JUST for important files and media, there's no OS on that drive or anything like that. I still don't completeley trust an SSD with my important files.
If I didn't have a problem and suddenly have a problem I will spend no more than an half hour figuring out what it is before doing a complete reset. It is faster than wasting more time. I have a step by step procedure in restoring all the settings and installs to get back and running within a couple hours.
Thanks again, Brian......turns out I'm running pretty great. Just wish 4Tb drives would drop in price back to where they were in summer 2023, when drive prices reached their lowest point in the history of ever.
The common services i turn off is sysmain and window search as you dont need them on ssd or nvme and manually set the virtual memory according to the physical ram available on the system
I think you forgot the #1 issue that results in this problem that I see time and time again in the field. Lack of memory. If your system is running above 70% memory usage, your HDD usage will go bananas. I saw this issue a lot with windows 7 systems that got updated to windows 10 while only running 4Gigs of ram. This happens due to windows trying to compensate for your lack of memory and utilizing the HDD to swap in/out for memory in excess.
I went through EVERY remedial for this problem I could find on the internet. NOTHING worked. What DID work for me was turning off Airplane mode. I am hard wired and for some reason my laptop was stuck in Airplane mode. I could not turn it off through the GUI toggle switch, so I used the Windows Key and the PRTSCR / Radio tower key and toggled off Airplane mode. Almost INSTANTLY disk went from 100% usage to 8%. If you have tried everything and it has not worked, make sure you are not stuck in airplane mode and see if it works for you as well.
My 4yo HP desktop came with a cheap HDD and it has started showing the reallocation parameter amber, and newly also reallocation count... It had 100 Disk issues since I remember, Windoze 10 got reinstalled back in March and yet it failed to install some updates over the weekend, had to clear the updates cache to be able to install that update. Crucial sata SSD is on the way, also nvme for another slot, will see whether it can tolerate Linux on sata drive and Windoze on nvme at once, since I got told (maybe mistakenly) that my machine prefers to launch OS from sata disk, so Linux will take priority, and Windoze got some updates that will disable dual booting. Microcock doesn't like to share space, does it? Taking control over everything and you don't even own your OS. If it misbehaves, it will be booted from a USB, like on my Dell Laptop. I will teach you who is the boss here! Also upgrading my RAM while I am at it.
Just uninstalled Intel's Rapid Storage Technology after an error alert. Was going to reinstall, but magically, my issues with 100% use disappeared. Not sure if I need/want to reinstall RST.
does anybody know why my youtube videos and other tasks will sometimes pause temporarily whiilst I hear the disk spinning sound, followed by everything kicking back into gear? sometimes any music im listening to as well will keep repeating half a second over and over? ive checked all my drives and they are healthy
You have the best channel for helping PC users on the internet.
Thanks for the kind words
@@Britec09 TRUE words! 👍🏼🤗🏆
Yes, he is really good on computer ❤
Thanks, Brian. My drives are as healthy as can be.
Glad to hear it
Great solution, sometimes we don’t run many programs but Disk usages 100%😢
Reason 1. Windows 11. Reason 2. Windows 11. Reason 3. Windows 11. And so on.
You're right but without the number 11. It happens on windows 10 also and i'm not finding a solution either

Appreciate the Patch My PC Updater tip.
It only found 27 bits of software on my PC that needed updating 💪
Glad I could help

How about stopping "indexing" when a SSD drive is used. The drive is so fast that this feature is not needed.
Most useful, even some pro tech user can overlook.

2023 was a good year for M.2 storage. I got a Crucial 4TB for $176.00 over the holidays.
One thing on task manager, is to click the column header so it sorts usage by high to low
That is correct
Nice one, I always watch tour videos . Big up
Appreciated
Great Video! I enjoy your videos very much! Always looking for the next video. Learned a lot, Thanks!

A great software to update your software is Winget our UnigetUI (formerly WingetUI) which is the graphical version of WIndows 11's Winget
Yes, that is very good
Another awesome video Brian and my Disk is healthy.
You're welcome
I have read/watched and tried about everything to find out what causes this, normally my disk will be running at about
keeping your SSD pretty full may shorten its life, so clean it out.
I agree
crazy you uploaded 1 day ago, im currently having this issue
maybe you have a tip for me? im only having the 100% disc usage when starting games. when I close them again it goes down
This is really great!!
If disk is ring utilized 100% accessing utilities as you mention, may take forever if at all.
Dell AIO ‘s are the worse🤯
Who you guys do this. Good tips
When i turn on my PC, windows 11 ssd disk usage is 100% , but when i am putting it to sleep mode, after sleep mode ssd works perfectly, what can i do?
Just uninstalled Intel's Rapid Storage Technology after an error alert. Was going to reinstall, but magically, my issues with 100% use disappeared. Not sure if I need/want to reinstall RST.
GREAT VIDEO AS USUAL!!!!
Thanks again!
Windows Search service is also a common culprit...
What do I do if the disk is failing because of reallocated sectors count also indexing isn't working
this always happens to my pc if i download something, like literally everything i downloaded, but im on win10
does anybody know why my youtube videos and other tasks will sometimes pause temporarily whiilst I hear the disk spinning sound, followed by everything kicking back into gear? sometimes any music im listening to as well will keep repeating half a second over and over? ive checked all my drives and they are healthy
I dont have the latest bios in my system can this cause a problem my system is the hp pavilion gaming laptop 15
Stop HDD indexing on all drives, especially SSD ones.
Best solution is to bring back Windows 7
i have ssd on here so dose not apply to me
Still get 100% disk usage on SSD
@@Britec09 not here using icoolax 2.5 ssd here never had high usage here
Not saying you did have 100% disk usage, this video is for people who have got it or may have it in the future. its a education video.
@@Britec09 yes i know thanks for info it usully happenes with mechanical drive some ppl say disabeling sysmain or prefetch services helps alot
👍👍
Thanks
@@Britec09 you are welcome
I hate this kind of video that are trying to sell you whatever instead of focusing on how to solve an issue
