  • Back out on the Rachel May enjoying fishing with my good friends Gordon and Billy. It made a change to let someone else take the helm and for me to just enjoy the trip.
I was super pleased with the Scorpion fish. I believe it is a short-spined Sea Scorpion (Myoxocephalus scorpius) but I maybe wrong. Whatever, it was a most pleasant surprise to catch one. I pleased to say that like most of the fish I caught it was safely returned to the depths.
Tight lines from me and a tail wag from Dee

Some cracking fish there, and good variety. Gordon certainly seems to be able to put you on them. Nice buffet for his 'pet' seal! 😆

Thanks 👍. Interestingly it only likes the larger Haddock and Cod. Mackerel and Scorpions where ignored.

Thank you very much. It was a really enjoyable trip out on the Rachel May. It was a change from fishing from my own small boat. Thanks for commenting 👍

Great video Phil, good to see the small ones go back, even though most of them would still be within the minimum legal size. Great skippering from Gordon getting you on the fish👌

Thanks. As you know I take very few fish for the table and a Haddock really needs to be huge not just in size for decent fillets. Gordon has years of knowledge hard earned from earning a living as a fisherman.

Another good video Phil, it was nice having you on board again, loved the underwater footage of the haddock swimming back down 👌🏻🐟🐟

GREAT STUFF!!! My mother used to argue that the 20th of June was much longer day than the 21st because she had me on the 20th!!! I like that boat! CHEERS from HERE!!!

Thanks, belated Happy Birthday wishes to you. The boat is a 40 foot Procharter P4 with a huge Mann V10 diesel engine - chalk and cheese compared with little Reel Time.

Ive been on a few boat trips at Berwick upon Tweed , and the trips have been totally spoiled by thieving seals , they just circle the boat and then steal your fish , If you get a decent fish you have no chance . Even moving to get away doesnt work they just follow the boat .

Thanks for watching and commenting, the seals are a real problem. I really don't like to loose fish or think of the seal having hooks in it.

He boat Rachel may any way related to Rachel Clare which used to run out of Girvan and laterly kylesku

I don't think so, the Rachel May has always run from Boddam or Fraserburgh. Before the Rachel May Gordon ran the Heather Isle again from Boddam.
