Looks like a beautiful day out👍 Cruden Bay was one of the very first places I launched a boat myself - almost 40 years ago! Nice to see a few plaice around, as there used to be some chunky specimens on that coastline before they were trawled almost into oblivion. Good luck with the new trailer, you'll certainly find the roller coaster style much easier than bunk supports. Most times I find that I can keep my trailer bearings safely out the water too, which is a definite bonus.
Thanks Doug, hopefully the smaller specimens we put back will grow on. However, I doubt I'll ever see fish the size of those from days of old. I have been watching how and where you launch your Orkney and feel the new trailer is going to open up more opportunities for me. I'm also getting the hang of using ropes to keep the car on solid ground. Thanks for watching commenting.
@@anotherangleUK Rather ironically, and weather permitting, I will be raiding the Moray Firth haddock stocks later this week. From a friends boat rather than my own though - at least it saves me a long tow there and back. A haddock free freezer awaits, so here's hoping they're hungry (there're my favourite fishy snack😃)
What a slipway!! Great condition, good car park and only £5!! Also what a lovely day to be out on the water too. Reel time's going to love that new trailer and I bet she slips on and off that so much easier now!
Thanks Steve. I was surprised by the Haddock as they are normally further out. I've had a few new species aboard the boat this year. Hope you're getting out on the SIB. Stay safe and tight lines.
Paul, thanks for watching and commenting. Sharing the adventures is what the channel is all about. I hope to get the boat out more often on the North East coast of Scotland. Tight lines Phil.
This was an awesome watch Phil, very entertaining with some wonderful fish. A plaice in the north east is quite rare in my opinion, brilliant to know they are there. I think you had a few first time fish aboard Reel Time too👌hats of to Gordon for helping you out with the boat trailer 👍stunning little east coast harbour in rugged surroundings
Thanks Douglas, it's good to explore new areas from the small harbours in the North East. The new roller trailer will make launch and recovery easier as well. Looking forward to many more adventures with Reel Time and friends.
Some fine views of a beautiful part of the coast, and great to see he boat back in the water. Some awkward work setting up the new trailer, but I'm sure it'll be worth it.
Thanks, I've been meaning to get out on the boat around this coast for ages. The roller trailer will hopefully make things easier. Set up did take a bit of faffing but as you say worth it in the long run.
What a great days fishing lovely place and the haddock was a surprise. Don’t they those down my end and very few plaice well done. That trailer is posh very nice
Thanks mate, we seem to be getting quite a few Haddock at the moment. That trailer has made launch and recovery a lot easier. I don't have to submerge the wheel bearings and the boat just rolls off and back on easy. Well worth the upgrade.
Lovely harbour and slipway in good condition. It’s ideal for small fishing boats. Hopefully back again soon when weather conditions permit. Cheers Phil
@@anotherangleUK We are fishing flounder lately for a change..Very similar to your Plaice.Interesting to see the launch at the boat ramp.Handy to have lightweight boat with those conditions !
Hi there, I had Bearing Buddies on the old trailer. The new trailer has Avon sealed hubs which hopefully won’t need them. Looking forward to using the roller trailer.
Great stuff Phil, enjoyed watching that, it was nice reliving the moment fishing, listening tae that lovely sound from the cliffs and good company 🎣🐟🐟👌🏻 Cheers Phil
So enjoyed watching - felt I was there with you & Gordon. The views (especially of Slains Castle) & the comaraderie between you guys was great - serious fishing, informative & terrific fun. 👍🙂🐟
Many thanks for the kind comments. Gordon was telling me many years ago the plaice were huge and plentiful in that area. Keep an eye out for our next video.
Thanks James, you're dead right there. We are very lucky living up here (when the weather is good 😉). Been hard to get the boat out on either coast this year.
I have the same boat and attached another winch on the opposite of the parking wheel. I put 40m of 5mm Dyneema on the drum and can pull the trailer up the beach. A hand truck type wheel on the front helps a lot.
Thanks 👍 What a difference a sunny day and a few good fish makes to a video. Appreciated all the more after some of the sessions I've fished this year. The only constant is the enjoyment and smile factor which is always high whilst fishing.
You youtube typhoon Phil, showing off that you can employ a camera man now. Wonderful harbour and slipway, great fish too, but are you sure thats in Scotland, I could see that rare blue bit in the sky 😂
When we do get good weather it can be amazing. Unfortunately it has been in rather short supply so far this year. The little harbour dries right out so well worth reading tide time twice or you're out for a long day. 😃
@anotherangleUK trailer looks great, I used to be able to recover my coastliner off the beach when the tide had gone out, let the front of the trailer rise and it winched straight on because of the rollers swing beam
That's the type of trailer I've bought, swing beam and rollers. We retrieved just as you've described due to low water. A lot of my launch sites involve ropes as I've just 2WD.
Hi, terrific to know I have a viewer all the way over in Alaska. Looks a fantastic location. The local lobster boats here also use Dabs in their creels (pots). Thanks for taking the time to comment - much appreciated.
Hi thanks for that info. On the starboard or right side of the trailer the manufacturer SBS added a step to the trailer. I generally climb in from that side.

Tight lines for the Haddock. I'll keep my eye on your channel / blog to see how you get on.
Really enjoyed tjat Phil. Glad Gordon got his Plaice too!! 😊. Good company and a peaceful day. Priceless. Tight lines.
Thanks Darren. Hopefully we'll get plenty more days like that this year. Phil

Thanks 👍. It is a great little slip but limited by tide. That harbour almost dries right out on spring tides.
Nice session, Gents! Lovely Haddock and Plaice. You both looked like you had a great day out.
Good luck with the new trailer
Regards
Steve

What a day , beautiful , and some nice species , a personal best for Gordon magic .
Thanks for watching and commenting. Gordon's Plaice was a good fish and the Haddock was unexpected, both in size but returned to grow bigger.

No problem 👍 I hope to launch from there again this ‘summer’.
FINE BUSINESS!!! Viewing from westcoast CANADA!!! CHEERS from HERE!!!
Hi over there, great to hear from you. How's it going on the west coast of Canada?
@@anotherangleUK We are fishing flounder lately for a change..Very similar to your Plaice.Interesting to see the launch at the boat ramp.Handy to have lightweight boat with those conditions !
Our boat ramps leave a lot to be desired. Being able to rope the boat in and out is essential. Small Orkney Coastliners make the job easier.
Very enjoyable (get some bearing buddies for trailer, if you haven't already, they help a lot)

Those flounders were all dabs

@@anotherangleUK yes Phil i bet it can get rough up there in deep water,
Check out Gordon's channel. He had Orcas swimming alongside his boat at the weekend.

That's a good idea and makes life easier and less risk to the car. Nice to hear from another Orkney owner. Great little boats.
Great to see you found a friend, great fishing too.

There are trailer fenders made of metal relativly cheap available which double as a step into the boat.
