- Like any other trips everything was about fine and then after lunch time the discovery . Salmon fishing is in decline , and all those areas needs to be looked after before it's all gone . Welcome to the National park .
Thanks for clearing this up. I salute you guys!
I hope the authority start checking all the system . If we find a net by chance I guaranty there will be many more . With kayaks they could check the place more efficiently , but I doubt they will come out , it's raining every day .
Great video as always mate! Leaving nets out like that is a bloody disgrace.
Crime against a whole range of wildlife no one seems to check .
Well done guys.Would love to catch these poachers in action.Keep up the good work Nico.
Those people whoever they are went too far . They look very busy not having time to check on the Nets .
Your creativity is what keeps me coming back!

Thank you so much .
Great work Nico. Hope the angling association and police start regular patrols. Excellent outing and happy bunch enjoying fishing and company.
It was just another normal outing . I have not seen any authority activities for dozen of years , I think the whole area is turning into a farce . I think I would check every river at the minute , got to be more than one net and devices deployed on the loch . And people always complain there is hardly any game fish in the system . Joke !
Well done for checking for poachers nets. As you say they do untold damage. I'm sure you left some of those chanterelles to spread their spores, but probably a good idea to remind folks to do the same.
@@chrissmiles788 I move the chanterelle feet to other location spending the goodness .
We’re experiencing similar issues on the SW coast. I’ve been to the police station and reported it, hopefully it will be stopped. It’s truly amazing what a disregard for the natural environment some people have.
I phoned the national park and the polite lady on the phone said they don't deal with this kind of incident . The other authorities are well aware of the problem me think .
Great work Nico, unfortunately these numpties that have zero respect for nature and wildlife walk amongst us, the polis and the bailiffs have their work cut out.
It's a duty for all of us to act against wildlife crime . It's not a paid job , we do it because we care about the country side and nature . The one in charge don't enjoy the rough weather out in the wild .
Shows the national park rangers are not doing enough or paying attention to the area , getting payed for nothing. They are Quick to take money for permits , boat fees and registrations. Great work guys. Just puts the park rangers and committee to shame.
Not trying to say your wrong bud and I understand your frustration but it's the Loch Lomond Angling Improvement Association that are responsible for the fishing and Bailiffs on Lomond, Leven & Clyde Estuary and there is not enough of them to cover such an expanse of water although both the water borne Rangers and Countryside Rangers would both report illegal activity to the Police. The permit money goes to the Angling Association to look after these waters as best they can, the Boat Registration and Launch Fees go back into the National Park to help with Patrol Boat/Rangering/Site Maintenance etc. The Water Rangers do a fantastic job with limited resources they also whilst not being a rescue boat will often help people in distress, the Nat Park has been cutting back patrols, Rangering (and other projects) for a long time now due to budget constraints which is ultimately the Scottish Gov that decides how much money they get from the Public Purse. 🎣👍
Actually that's not true . Our fishing permit was checked about 12 years ago by a water bailiff . Apart from that I have never been in contact with park rangers , wildlife officers or Police . They are too busy playing with beavers and ringing ospreys I bet .
@@NicolasValentinScotland Hi Nicolas - what bit is not true? The Water Bailiffs are in the employ of the Angling Association which is where your permit comes from (but maybe buy from an outlet) and as I say all the ranger patrols have been cut back (not their fault) which is why you don't see much of them, there is one wildlife Police Officer based in the National Park building in Balloch to cover a big area - they do a lot more than play with Beavers - as I say the Gov does not put enough into resources, and the Nat Park staff do a great job with what resources they have.
@@ALochOnTheWildSide Do you think I should pay more tax to employ more Rangers and increase my £75 coarse fishing permit catch and release , no kill . Law abiding citizen are always paying for the rest and the one in control are ripping all our coins . I contacted the park authority about the location of the damn net to be told they do not deal this that . Park and fishing should be branched and work like a team . Gill nets are 50 to 100 meter long , they are easy to spot using the right approach away from the cosy dry office . I know how things work .
@@NicolasValentinScotland I don’t think anything Nicolas and agree with a lot of what you say. I have had a boat on Lomond for many years and lived here for 50 years including 20 years working for the park… there is a lot wrong with it, an awful lot, lots I disagreed with when I was there but there is a lot right with it and it is defo not the fault of any Rangers. The nets are a wildlife crime and should be reported to the police. 🤙🎣
Thanks, Nico good video, That net was horrible.😡😡
People should be aware this is still happening in 2024 . Park authorities are too busy importing beavers soon to be trapped in those nets .
Due to it's size Loch Lomond is a Public Loch. That's because there are multiple owners around The Loch. No individual can claim an all and whole exclusive title, which the law requires, to own Loch Lomond.
The right to fish for salmon and sea trout is in multiple ownership. By agreement, LLAIA administers the salmon and seatrout fisheries and provides for the bailiffs, who are officers of the law legally appointed by Scot Gov. That's because there is no District Salmon Fishery Board in the Clyde Salmon Fishery District, which includes Loch Lomond.
There is no Protection Order on Loch Lomond to regulate the non-migratory freshwater fisheries, for brown trout and coarse fish. There is a statutory Prohibition against fishing for eels. LLAIA does not own the right to fish for coarse fish on Loch Lomond, especially from a boat. When I was on the National Park Fish And Fisheries Forum we were informed by representatives of coarse anglers that they had taken legal advice and refused to pay LLAIA any money for their alleged "permit." Coarse fishers should call the Police on anyone selling fraudulent permits to fish. NB Salmon and Freshwater fisheries are two separate legal entities.
Some time ago, about 2006, I submitted a Crime Report to the Procurator Fiscal/Crown Prosecution in Dumbarton against LLAIA, for poaching. Whilst there was no denial they were acting in breach of the criminal law there was no prosecution and the PF/amongst others let them off with a warning. LLAIA were doing that for a long time before I caught them in the act.
Tight Lines!
@@jamesgraham4242 it's always been grey . Good info anyway .
@@NicolasValentinScotland The Sheriff isn't "grey" last time I checked, unless anyone wants 6 months for Contempt of Court. Maybe a wee conviction will help to clear the air. That info was provided by a Sheriff and the other parties mentioned therein. There never was any "course fishing permit" on Loch Lomond until LLAIA pulled that out of the bag when the National Park started up. In 1999 the responsibility for fisheries was devolved to Scot Gov. The salmon fisheries interests lobbied to take over the freshwater fisheries under the new incoming legislation. They didn't get it. But LLAIA weren't going to be outdone so they went ahead with their phoney "course fishing permit" anyway. Looks like I'll have to submit another Crime Report to the PF. They've never owned Loch Lomond. The salmon fisheries are a separate heritable title conveying the right to fish for salmon and sea trout/migratory species.....not the ownership of riparian land or waters or wild fish therein.
Well done finding and getting rid of those nets !
This national park should be looked after and people committing crime should be banned .
I thought at this time of year the bailiffs were watching like hawks great video 👍
Too much rain about . Then it's battering down no one wants to be outside .
@@NicolasValentinScotland 👍
That's a big sea trout I'm sure, the luss is known as a sea trout spawning river.
It is , I wonder how many got caught that way all those years .
Well done boys. Hard to believe that someone would put a gill net there. Worse that they left it for the fish to rot.
They might be busy working on other nets that's why they don't have time to check . The authority are cosy in the office . I fish there for 30 years and only met a bailiff once .
Looks like a big sea trout, what a shame, you dont catch many that size in the system, sad to see it get caught like that
Yeep , that is not on .
Well done again guys and whoever that was with the net needs caught that's shocking
Authorities are there to deal with this type of incidents . We don't like nature to be trapped suffocation in nets .

Do you need a permit to fish Loch Lomond and where exactly is that section of the loch? Thanks
Yes we all have permit , it cost £75 / year for coarse fish , catch release , no keep net aloud , this is near fraoch Eilean .
Hi Nicolas perception 13 kayak is ok for beginners please if reply quick will be amazing
13ft is good for any kayaks
Foreigners yet again using nets
Hard to say but not impossible.

Well done nick removing the net what are the park rangers doing its a disgrace
They issue parking tickets and lecture about beavers .
@@NicolasValentinScotland yea ive been fishing and they fly right into the jetty on their RIB and start harrassing anglers to see permits etc the cops are as bad mate i was fishing balmaha jetty and an old man stopped his car unloaded his car carried his stuff down and the cops gave him a ticket he told them he was moving it once his stuff was sorted but they didnt care i fish all over the UK and scotland is the worse by a mile for running and protecting fishing

Big seatrout Paul . Those nets do awful damage to wildlife . The game fishing is in total decline , they let this happen unfortunately . Next year will be total catch and release for the punters and free netting for the rest .

It's a big seatrout

Same here in Ireland brother 😢
Not surprised . We are united .
Was talking to a fisherman last week who was saying there was a seal causing havoc around the river leven in loch lomond, wondering if someone was mabye trying to net the seal if they have put the net accross the full width of the river,
Good shout but that river is 20 miles away from the sea . Gill nets are design to catch game fish like salmon and big sea trout , also otters and diving birds .
Lovely girolle there - good man removing the troot net
Love those mushrooms , they are meaty and delicious .
What do you get for your £75 quid a year permit? Do they stock the water with fish?
@@ianm4316 the right to fish for coarse fish , it's not stoked .

@@ianm4316 I don't mind paying for a permit but the poaching devices are too many . Plenty fish traps in the loch , 10 mt long .
@@NicolasValentinScotland There should be some kind of body set up with local people to police the loch using funds from permits. I bet there are a few older folks retired looking for something to do to get them out n about out of the house and get a little cash for doing so. Crazy 10m long nets☢
Abusing animals for fun, i simply don't get it !!

Oh yeah...watching now...never blank with Nico😂
Never ever :)
Surprised there any sea trout with the numbers of pike.
The coarse fishing is healthy .
Eastern Europeans no doubt
Potentially, I'm from Eastern Europe and some people have zero respect its ridiculous. I've seen it personally with people from central asia as well.
Don't be so sure. The people with the local knowledge to do this are probably Scottish. I've seen poachers many times and it's usually Scots taking coarse fish for bait.
@@grant1133 possibly then I’m from the south east of England and this stuff and fish traps etc are always Eastern Europeans unfortunately
@@grant1133 I agree . This is a big set up , those are Pro but not very good at it leaving nets for weeks .
Good work m8, but I think it should be one rod only fishing on the loch
One rod a a time sure. But you should be able to carry multiple rods with you.
You need different set up on a day . feeder fishing , dropshot , spinning light, spinning heavy , float fishing , fly fishing for perch , flyfishing for pike that's why you see many set up on kayaks , most of the time we concentrate on one rod only .
Disgusting the way people treat the country. From poaching fish to the litter everywhere else.
Yeep , we notice the litter every day and the rest we find is sickening . This whole area generate millions of £ and it's becoming a farce .
If it wasn’t for the idiots we would still have free fishing on Loch Lomond.
Price of coarse fishing went right up lately £75 catch and release , £10 a day and the game fishing is nowhere like it used to be . Catch and release is definitely the way forward and cracking down on the poacher needs a better approach .

What river running into loch lomand was that
There’s three rivers running into Loch Lomond and one that empties it down into the Clyde estuary..
You have the River Falloch to the north then the Fruin on the west bank that runs through the Carrick golf course then the River Endrick coming from the east which is the one in this video.
Sad to see such a beautiful fish being stopped from making the last few miles of it’s journey to spawn after coming from the Sea up the Clyde and the River Leven into the Loch only to be caught by poachers using a gill net at the mouth of the Endrick 😫
@edwardcarlin6063 it's the luss water, did you even watch the video?
@@ROSSLINDEN0 Aye you’re right mate, it’s Aldoclay they’re going in at just across from Tanvanoch..I initially thought it was Balmaha at first hence why I thought it was the Endrick

why is there no rangers checking the
rivers out ?
I don't know , I never see any .
Nico the champ
Fast at kayaking but the rest is normal Pawel . topman !
Why would the poachers leave the net and not check it for days which results in fish that have spoiled?
They may have other devices to deal with . Poachers don't sit next to a net . This is serious crime against nature .
@NicolasValentinScotland hardly a serious crime, now the fishing boats that's a different story taking thousands of fish, easy too blame a silly gillie net that won't take even a fraction
