@@maryjones794 Jamie is nowhere near as talented as Eddie as a comedic actor. I'm talking about Eddie's classic stuff from the 80's, not that crap he started making later: Beverly Hills Cop, 48 Hours, Trading Places. Heck, I'd rank The Golden Child over most of Jamie's comedy movies lol.
You are comparing two different eras. Comedians were not getting those opportunities in the 1980s. Eddie was an unstoppable force from day one. Eddie excelled before cable expanded, the internet was thought of, and before blacks were the featured actors.
Jamie by a MILE. Not even close if you compare the entire scope of talent. I dont recall Eddie having NEARLY as many hit records that made the charts like Jamie has. Or Eddie getting an Oscar for a serious role.
Jamie Foxx is one of the most talented humans ever. He’s probably the most talented person alive right now. Acting, singing, comedy, hosting and the instruments he can play.
I'd say Eddie. While their talents are comparable, you have to give singing ability to Jamie (with the caveat that Eddie never focused on singing to the degree that Jamie did, and when people mention "Party All the Time", you have to remember Eddie did that song AND album when he was 23-24 years old; Jamie was nearly 40 when he did "Unpredicatable" and the associated album. Those extra years of life experience play a huge part when it comes to singing that I don't think should be ignored). When it comes to stand-up? Eddie all the way. Acting is where it gets tricky. Unfortunately, I think people value dramatic acting over comedic acting in a general sense, which is why people are saying Jamie. But I think Eddie is a better actor because I personally think good comedic acting is more difficult than good dramatic acting. Jamie was amazing in both Ray and Collateral, and he did a good job in Django Unchained, but even after those successes, he was nowhere near the phenomenon of Eddie Murphy during his 1980s run. Eddie broke such a serious degree of ground, and was so influential, entire movies were written with him in mind, or changed ENTIRELY once he came aboard. Also, people need to understand that while winning an Oscar is a big fucking deal, the Oscars are notoriously biased against comedy and comedic actors (make note there's no specific category for comedy movies or comedic roles). So absolute comedy geniuses like Eddie inadvertently get slighted when the majority of their output is comedic. For example, Eddie's sole Oscar nomination was for a dramatic role in Dreamgirls. It's absurd to think that none of his best comedic movies even got a look at the Oscars, so merely using the dearth of his Oscars and nominations compared to Jamie's isn't comparing like with like. So, I'd give Eddie the nod. I weigh comedic acting and writing higher than dramatic acting, so that gives Eddie the edge. Put another way; aside from Ray, pretty much any other role that Jamie played could've also been played equally as well by another black actor. Eddie, on the other hand? No other black actor could've replaced him and done equally as well when it came to his 1980s run. That, I feel, shows a level of singular talent that can't be matched.
I briefly read that novel lol....the difference is the 80s stars were SUPERSTARS! No social media, no streaming, they were a big deal...Eddie, Michael Jackson, Jordan, etc benefited from that
@@bernardwood3846 And Peep This went absolutely nowhere and Jamie didn't do another album for 12 years. Eddie's 1st album charted higher than Jamie's, sold more copies, and "Party All the Time" hit No.2 on the charts. In fact, Eddie made the album on a bet with Richard Pryor. That's how bold and how talented he was at the time. My point still stands: Jamie is a better singer, but Jamie didn't hit it big in singing until he was damn near 40 years old and coming off of an Oscar and two hit singles with Twista and Kanye, respectively. And as I also said, aside from "Ray", all of Jamie's major film performances could've been done equally as well by a host of other black actors. There's NO ONE who could've replaced Eddie Murphy in his major film roles and done equally as well. That's the tipping point for me. We still talk about "Eddie Murphy movies". Jamie's best film was an (admittedly good) impersonation of a much more famous person, and in the movies where he's the main star (aside from Django Unchained), they weren't all that good. Aside from "Ray", Jamie Foxx is a great supporting actor, but he can easily get overshadowed in movies where he's the 1st or 2nd lead, and since he's essentially retreated from the comedy space in terms of movies, that causes me to rank Eddie above him.
@@kingzriot976 Whitney didn't write her biggest song. Neither did Tina Turner, nor did Celine Dion. So...what's yout point? I know Rick James wrote and produced the song. Rick James is one of my favorite artists of all time. However, at no point did I say that Eddie was a better musical artist than Jamie. I was very clear that he wasn't, but that Jamie's musical success came as a mature man of nearly 40, while Eddie dropped his 1st and biggest album at age 23-24, so it's to be expected that Jamie would have developed his sound (considering Jamie didn't make an album for 12 years after "Peep This"). My main point was this: Eddie was irreplaceable when he was doing the things he was at his best at. Jamie isn't/wasn't. Aside from a single movie ("Ray"), Jamie is rather interchangeable as an actor, he's a good singer but he's not the best male singer out there (and his best songs all had features), he's not the best stand-up comedian, and he's certainly not on Eddie's level as a comedic actor. So give Jamie the wins in singing and dramatic acting. Eddie beats him in stand-up and comedic acting. I personally feel that stand-up and comedic acting is much more difficult than being a good singer or a good dramatic actor, so I go with Eddie.
They both act comedy and drama. They both sing, Jamie does it better. They both play instruments and they both do impressions. Unless you know something I don't. What skill does Jamie have that Eddie doesn't?
Hey Aries, about living to 90. My dad said, he thought 60 was old until he turned 80! Bet you change your mind when you turn 70. It comes really, really fast.
Impressions, oscar awards winning actor, grammy award winning singer, comedy and a classic lyrics trained pianist. When it comes to talent, it's jamie foxx.
Jamie is naturally funny, but Eddie has funnier movies and bigger stand-up specials. However, Jamie is a better singer and has better dramatic performances.
Jamie's the better singer & DRAMATIC Actor & Eddie's the better stand-up comic & Comedic actor! Both are ICONIC!

Jamie by a MILE. Not even close if you compare the entire scope of talent. I dont recall Eddie having NEARLY as many hit records that made the charts like Jamie has. Or Eddie getting an Oscar for a serious role.
Jamie can't sing.🙄 He makes good music though.
@@divineintervention212did u really say Jamie cant sing?😂 Where do you live? He is a fantastic singer!
Hey, Booty Call is one of my fav comedies ever 😡 😂😅
Jamie Foxx is one of the most talented humans ever. He’s probably the most talented person alive right now. Acting, singing, comedy, hosting and the instruments he can play.
Lol @ most talented person alive. Typical American hyperbole
It's crazy because I'm watching collateral right now on Netflix. First time hearing about that movie.
Jamie's more talented than Eddie hands down. And I came up with Eddie Murphy
How.? Cause Jamie can sing better
@@3rdGenerationCancer Damn his singing, just all around. It's my opinion 🤷🏿♂️
Booty fall is up there with Boomerang!!! How y’all miss that? ???? You gotta lick it, before you stick it 😂😂😂
Jamie might be the most talented entertainer ever!
One of my favorite Jamie Foxx movies is Law Abiding Citizen 🔥🔥
Jamie is a singer, actor, songwriter, standup comedian, pianist….. The list goes on
His music is thrash as is his stand up
And Eddie ain't you sound uneducated
2:26 "Eddie Murphy's always my number 1"
4:19 "Eddie came out the gate A list movies"
7:07 "Do you really want to live to 98?"
Jamie Foxx is a multi-talented
Comedy
Music
Movie
Storytelling
Eddie Murphy is one of the greatest comedians of all time
No comedian will have a better stand-up than Delirious. Every comedian is still doing there best Eddie Murphy impression.
Never even seen or heard fox in anything comedy in 37 years of living
Yeah that's a hard one they're both in my top five 💯💪🏽
It's no that hard for me Eddie all the way
Eddie Murphy is a goat. Jamie is great as well and very talented
Good to see Aries spires back in rotation
Jamie is an Athlete.. Singer.. Musician... Comedian, and Actor !
Who can Say all of this?
Sad we always get half interviews cause we have to listen to the opinion of the interviewer more than the celebrity 😢
Welll Jamie was in the same age range when he dropped his first album “Peep This”
I briefly read that novel lol....the difference is the 80s stars were SUPERSTARS!
@@giovannifitzpatrick1987Eddie didn’t even write his biggest song. Rick James wrote it and Eddie just sang it. Jamie’s a lot more talented overall.
Eddie Murphy has a whole album Vlad
Eddie is a groundbreaker .... everyone else is very talented
5:56 pause!
Jaime has more skills but Eddie is the king of comedy
They both act comedy and drama. They both sing, Jamie does it better. They both play instruments and they both do impressions. Unless you know something I don't. What skill does Jamie have that Eddie doesn't?
@@jayp3360 Eddie Murphy comedy is way better than jaime
All I'm gonna say is look at Eddie's catalogue of movies and bomb ass old skool stand ups
As far as stand-up and comedy in general Jamie can't touch Eddie.
I don't think ppl understand how much of a treat it was to have both of these legends in Dreamgirls ‼️
Jamie literally writes and produces music and is a classically trained pianist.
Hey Aries, about living to 90. My dad said, he thought 60 was old until he turned 80! Bet you change your mind when you turn 70. It comes really, really fast.
Jamie's interviews are funnier than his stand-ups and Eddie's stand-ups are funnier than his interviews
Aries you wildin out Booty Call is hilarious
Impressions, oscar awards winning actor, grammy award winning singer, comedy and a classic lyrics trained pianist. When it comes to talent, it's jamie foxx.
Both are great
Jamie Foxx’s breakout performance was Any Given Sunday, then Ali.
Jamie is naturally funny, but Eddie has funnier movies and bigger stand-up specials. However, Jamie is a better singer and has better dramatic performances.
I prefer Jamie Foxx's movies, and yes, I saw the Nutty Professor.
He couldn’t get a haircut before this interview?😂
Eddie should have won Oscars for The Nutty Professor and Bowfinger lol
This neega’s a legend himself. Look how he ended the clip with the Hugh Hefner joke 😂.
I liked this without even seeing the video. That’s a fresh debate.
Any given sunday was it for me
definitely two talented men, both made me smile many times in my life
Booty Call was funny as hell
