I have been waiting for this interview for almost a year now. Thank you Drink Champs for dropping this ish.
Thank you for all this Drink Champs. This is so special to me. This kind of access to the hip hop stories that raised me. These brothas showed me an alternative and I went a different direction from my brothas who got caught up. It's so crazy to see the greatest comedian of my life together again with Black Star. Black Star IS THE best rap duo that has ever done it. Peace to my brotha Nova who put me onto them and ain't with us. Respect to all the others, Kanye and 50, Jay and Big, they mentioned so many of my rappers and DJs. Gang Starr...man we are all witness to a very special era of hip-hop. Big ups to all y'all that give hip hop a platform. Chapelle, N.O.R.E., EFN, Drink champs, your work is precious to the culture.
The way I had the biggest crush on Yasiin Bey (aka Mos Def) in high school lol. So talented, a true intellectual with style and swagger like no other. He doesn’t get enough credit imo. Legend‼️💜🔥
🤝🏼
When did Mos def change his name?
I got him as one of the best hip hop artists💯
@@ThriveHealth-ep7cjhe never did. Yasiin is his government name lol
Oh I thought he changed his name my bad. I stand corrected. 💜
Yasiin always has the hitchhikers guide on him!! 💯💯
I’ve been on tour and opened for Talib Kweli four times. Every time, he was awesome. A great dude. I appreciate that brother. Good dude!
A few weeks ago I had a dream that Dave Chapelle passed away and I woke up incredibly sad. Glad to see this in my feed this morning! I guess I needed my Chapelle fix
The best drink champs ever on my momma
Your mom was underneath them all!?!?
Thank u, Kendrick, for bringing these guys out of "retirement". Our artform has been taken over by ppl who are just using us. Hip Hop needs a revised wave.
Stop it and I’m glad hip hip is dying because of all these weird fans
@purrfitazitgetz3365 Oh ok I saw u in another thread...I get it now... u jussta hatin ssa bot or 🧌 ... hip-hop is not dying... In fact it's getting back to its roots/from the heart ✊🏾
mainstream is Not hip-hop...so that mess can continue to die...while true hip-hop will continue to flourish and live on 💪🏾🏹🪶 ♾️
Now go ickKay ocksRay 🥱🤗
@@ShadowBanDeez Real talk! ✊🏿

As a non-black, non emersed fan, but extremely enamored of all persons in this podcast... I feel nothing but love...
“Bish u feel that?? That’s the gravity of my presence” 😭😭😭😭
Dave took over the show
"When I stepped in her life she felt the earth shook" mac Dre " she neva seen"
Bro is so hilarious 🤣

No cap.... I saw this on my feed at 6am after clocking in. I decided to wait until after work after I got me a bottle this is legendary. Chappelle on drink champs 🏆
This interview made me appreciate how beautiful hip hop used to be. I love the music today but it was so pure and raw back then. It was the soundtrack to my upbringing
Yasin was gettin his grub on!!! He ate like four different meals during that recording……….homeboy be grubbin!!! It was nice to finally sit and hear him speak after admiring his music and acting for so many years. He’s always gon get a bag cuz he stays hungry😂😂😂
" wich millionaire's?" And dave said "all of us" 😂😂 i wish i could be part of that all of us 😅
No. "Which Millionaires?" #remedial
In 5 years you will end the toast with your friends saying “which millionaires?, All of us”
God me 2
Ima get there.
Work hard on your dreams and you will be saying that
For the culture! I loved this episode, these are some of my favourite artists, and look forward to seeing others. I was just showing my friend Dave Chappelle's Block Party a few days ago and it was amazing for me to rewatch it after a few years!
beautiful to see these men be so vocal about the admiration and love, be so thankful to have each other in their life
That is my FAVORITE clip of Yasiin! He is so talented and I love his work. Don't let them get you down, Yasiin! You are talented and they wanted you only for themselves!
"Little Brother
I know that times is hard
Keep your mind on God

This message is for me, thank u brother ❤️
Son we both still growin' indeed
But where you at, I was and where you been, I left
Utilize my experience to guide ya step
All i hear is Gangstalicious when Mos Def talk 💯💯💯😂😂😂 legendary
😂
Mos Def was never a gangster rapper. the whole point of gangstalicious was the hypocrisy of the character, the same doesn't really apply to Mos Def cause he was in the backpack/conscience rap crowd.
🤣🤣
@@binglebop5877mos def voiced gangstalicious
@@binglebop5877I believe he knows this
I could just listen to this group talk about classic hip hop from their perspective all day lol
This is my first time seeing Drink Champs! The storytelling is 🔥🔥🔥! This episode is funny, brilliant and deep.
Omg thank you for sharing this gem. I absolutely adore the platform. And love seeing black men loving each other.

Mos Def left this interview and went straight back to herding goats.

It's good seeing Mos Def Again frfr ✊🏾💯
I love to hear Mos Def build he is one of the more knowledgeable people in hip hop, and he is a very well versed conversationalist.
Yeeeaah ….Yasin was amaaaazing in Brown Sugar…that’s when I fell in love with Black Dante and Something the Lord Made!!! He’s Mos Definitely gifted 🙏🏾 ❤
Yeah, he did a phenomenal job with that role, but whachu know about Big Black Africa. Don't sleep on Spike Lee's Bamboozled, now!
@@jovanreid6782 I’m definitely going to check those out! Thanks!

this is a netflix special on it's own by Dave Chappelle but on the drink champs. legendary!!!
he will not remember me but I met Yasiin in Cape Town. I was working on movie set as security, left my post just to go greet him, that was THEE pinnacle moment in my life, next to birth of my kids. I'm stoked BLACKSTAR is back. Missed u Talib &Yasiin

@@jw5349 My bad. Thanks for the heads up
I am MOS DEFinitely watching this whole episode 💯
The WHOLE thing!
💯APTTMHY💯
I Mos Definitely see what you did.
Little known fact, Mos Def had a 2 hour discussion with Lupe Fiasco about moving to Africa forever.
Where when and how do you know this?
@ Lupe said it in an interview, he went into more detail about it.
I’ll try and find the interview and post it later today
Love Lupe.
So they can have a 2 hour discussion but we can’t get a 20 minute ep from Yassiin & Lupe?? 😤
Half Baked got its flowers 😂😂😂😂 Dave is the king of punchlines without even trying
i saw chappelle and black star live at radio city in 2018 - best show of my life. thank you gents
Rollin the bleezy now for this 1st of the year wake and bake 🔥🔥🔥
The best one yet! Talk about vibes! It's special to see this whole group together. I felt the vibe so much I felt like I was there in person lol
Mos Def told NO LIES about Ye's Graduation album... it was a frenzy especially in Chicago💯
Mos def smacking in his chicken and rice in the mic is cracking me up 😂
Dave Chappell is a legend 🙌
No question
Chappelle and Mos Def must be protected at all costs
Enjoying a conversation with Yasiin Bey = Bucket list wish for me. His Kanye perspective is pure linguistic art from a pure artist himself and a true friend.
