    I have got to say, I’ve scoured the web for solutions to a micro stuttering issue I’ve been experiencing in every single game that I’m playing since building my new rig (long story short:1080ti, i5 8600k, 16gb ram, msi b360-a pro mobo) no dice! Fortunate to have stumbled upon your video. Just followed every instruction to the “T” and tonight I’v been playing Resident Evil 2 remake and Mass Effect Andromeda 1080p resolution, ultra setting buttery smooth. Thanks a million! Liked, subscribed, praised👍🏽

      @J M I have the same board..... is everything super smooth then all of a sudden it freezes and you get the "BZZZZZZZZ" noise for like 2 seconds? Mine does this maybe 3 times a day and i've tried everything to fix it. It doesn't affect me but i notice it happen is all and just worry it's fucking up my fairly new rig.

    This totally fixed my micro-stutter ! I used to play Skyrim SE at 60 fps stable without any issues a week ago, then suddenly yesterday the fps fluctuates at 58~61 fps, i was crawling my skin i thought it was Skyrim causing the issue till I ran GTA V and the fps fluctuates just as Skyrim and micro-stutter had gotten worse while i was driving around. I'm glad i was patient enough to watch the whole video and followed the guide step by step. Thanks a lot man you really helped me!!! Liked & Subscribed.

    Wow! I have a RTX 3080 and i7-8700K and was still having brief stuttering with my modded Skyrim VR. Tried so many things and then followed this video and it's noticeably improved. Did it solve every FPS loss in the game or CPU spike? No. But it got rid of some of the random CPU stuttering I was getting! Thank you so much! I don't know which change made the biggest difference but it added up to an improvement.

    Halfway through the video the stutter stopped. My mouse was laggy, the display would freeze for a milisecond or two and the audio would strecth out to cover for it. We'll see if this solution lasts. Thanks for the video.
    -Update:
    It didn't fix the problem, the stuttering came back the next day. I switched to Linux and the stutter stopped. I can't be bothered to configure every single program I wish to use, so I'll give windows a second chance. Hopefully it works as intended this time.

    This video should be praised more and more. I had stuttering as soon as I started the PC, even the file explorer was having stutters and the pc was a bit slow in every aspect. Plus, there was micro stuttering even in a game from 2011! The FPS rate in games were also much lower lately. For example after the stuttering started, I started to get an average of 90 FPS in Rocket League. After these steps solved my issue, the FPS in RL got back to normal, which was 180 FPS in average.
    I have 8 gb of ram so I stopped doing the other commands from the point 12:46. Still applying the settings solved the stuttering and any other issues for me. I think the powershell commands are very important.

    I followed the instructions to the letter and my latency increased (by about 50%) instead of decrease. I could not find COMPNAME Performance in LGP, don't know why. Also not clear if Large Page Utility has to remain active or if I can close it. But it does boot much faster and in games where I previously had some slight stutter it seems to have gone. So it DID help me after all. Thanks for the video!

    • @ingeborgsvensson4896
      @ingeborgsvensson4896 4 года назад

      @Jeremias Shortly after posting my previous comment the micro stuttering during gaming appeared again. So this video did not really help that much, except the faster boot up. About a year ago I still used an AMD card but I had removed all drivers and programs manually before installing my new Nvidia 2080S GPU. I suspected something AMD might still be left on my system without me knowing so I used DDU (display driver utility) and it did find dome AMD remnants on my system and/or registry. And that solved the problem for good. But I am glad some YT-ers take the time and effort to make a video like this, a lot of people may benefit from it.

    I've got of course improvment in desktop but not in the few games i have little stutters. They're pretty rare but regular and i though it would get rid of it.
    I really think now it's compatibility issue because 90% of games have no problems and some have stutter don't know why. (Like 1 frame drop every 3 seconds.)
    Even reducing game graphics to low and lowest resolution don't change anything.
    BTW, thank you i really learned a lot through your video.

    • @Davefinito

      If you've got a NVIDIA driver, you could try setting low latency mode to on instead of ultra. On is the same as the old maximum pre-rendered frames '1' from the 430 series and older drivers.

      @@Davefinito Wow that works !! What's the purpose of this latency setting ? It was disabled by default (global value) when i enabled for the games that have this issue, it all went smooth again.
      I just don't understand what was the problem can i enable it by default ? or some games have different frame rendering ? I just want to understand to know why i needed to enable this to get rid of it.

    • @Davefinito
      @Davefinito  4 года назад

      Starting with NVIDIA's 442.xx series, they changed it to low latency driver. When it's set to ultra, it will only trigger when you've nearly maxed out your video memory.
      The default is off. I don't believe anyone has made an app during install to set the profile as such. But you can use an app like profile inspector to save your settings, export and then import if you ever upgrade / reinstall the NVIDIA driver.

    From AGESA 1.0.0.3ABBA onwards, AMD made the CPU more relaxed on desktop. I know many people liked this because it means less voltage and less CPU fan ramping up but I personally stick with AGESA 1.0.0.3ABB because I prefer responsive CPU everywhere.

      The problem I had was Windows kept stuttering every few seconds. In safe mode w/ networking, the problem goes away. I thought the problem was a startup program. I disabled most startup excluding my audio HD driver and some others and the problem still persisted. Read something online about DPC. Decided to try messing with it and then I stumbled across this video. After LatencyMon ran I had my DPC routine execution time HIGH = 2,000-something. The color was in the orange and red. LatencyMon said there could be problems with my realtime audio sync. However, after following the first few steps of the video. After running LatencyMon again my problem was gone. I decided to just follow the rest of the video and was honestly surprised by how much ground you covered in one video. Props to you my man. I couldn't fix this problem for 1.5 days and I'm also an IT person... Thank you so much and looking forward to more optimization videos!

My specs are PROCESSOR: i5 9400 f, 16 gb crucial 2400mhz (normal ram, not gaming) , 1650 super. after applying the steps im getting
    Highest measured interrupt to process latency (µs): 131,90
    Average measured interrupt to process latency (µs): 3,931819
    Highest measured interrupt to DPC latency (µs): 105,0
    Average measured interrupt to DPC latency (µs): 1,654750
    Also when i go to drivers cpus or process tabs what i need to look at to know whats causing any issue? on drivers tab i'm seeing in (total execution ms column) only two things are showing high ms, the directx graphics kernel, and the nvidia windows kernel, with 148 and 144 ms, after those all the drivers are between 15 and 0 ms. thanks in advance!

    • @Davefinito

      It might be okay depending on what's running on your pc. Start off with looking at highest executation. There should be a pattern of usage. For example, anything running like nvlddmkm.sys running at pace of highest execution of 0.08 ms at idle then spikes to 0.9ms would cause me to investigate the NVIDIA driver and/or potential apps running in the background as starting points. Further info obtained would go to the next steps.

    thanks alot for this video. ive followed all the steps and my pc started out at 284ms of latency and it has gone down to about 200ms of latency. i cant seem to get it any lower, my main problem is with micro stuttering across most of my games no matter how high or low the graphics are set to.
    according to the latency monitor, the dxgkrnl.sys - DirectX Graphics Kernel has the highest ISR time of 246. is there anyway i can fix this?

    • @Davefinito
      @Davefinito  4 года назад

      No worries! One thing that can cause a higher latency with dxgkrnl.sys is if you’re duplicating monitors such as an Intel integrated GPU and a dedicated one or if you are using multi monitor mode with more GPUs active. I can get to 180us with that configuration on 3 systems. What’s your setup like?

      i have an intel nuc i7hvb hades canyon, with an external gpu; zotac 1660ti. its connected by an akitio node using tb3. my screen is an older 720p tv. ive been having general trouble trying to get everything to display on one screen. when it boots up or i go to bios, it displays to monitor 1...forcing me to unplug the hdmi from the graphics card and plug it into the computers hdmi output. but when i log into the desktop it goes to my tv on monitor 2.
      on this pc there are 3 graphic devices: intel integrated graphics, vega m gh that comes with the nuc, and the 1660ti which is connected externally. when i disable the first 2 i still get stuttering on almost all games. its really beyond my level of knowledge dealing with computers

    • @Davefinito
      @Davefinito  4 года назад

      Likely it has to do with the multiple GPUs in place plus the Akitio node w/ TB3. If each of the devices are running at diff refresh rates then it could be the multi monitor stutter issue which does get resolved with Windows 10 2004. If running Windows 10 1909 or older you could try setting the refresh rate to the same and see if that resolves.
      Alternatively, you can leaving 1 device connected then checking the latency monitor app. You should have a starting point then as you add additional devices, you should see the dxgkrnl.sys (DirectX Graphics Kernel) file increase in utilization and may be able to isolate it there

    Unfortunately this didn't help me with my pc's stuttering problems in games despite having strong specs (on paper) for even 1440p high refresh gaming. With a 3700x, 3070 gpu, and 32gb ram, I've been having horrible fps drops in games. Have done extensive testing, and can only come to the conclusion that it's the apparent widespread Ryzen "fTPM" issue. Done all sorts of testing, temps ok, ram ok, drives ok, gpu ok since it did the same stuff even on my old rx 480, updated GPU and chipset drivers, and clean windows installs didn't help either, they shockingly made the issue worse. In May, venders released bios updates, but, others as well as myself noticed less performance on this new bios, and others and myself also still suffer the stuttering, although, admittedly, it's better than it was before the bios update. For the life of me, I couldn't find a way in the older bios to disable TPM like some were apparently able to do, if I could find out how to do that I think things could be ok. But as it stands now this has all been frustrating and depressing beyond words. I've had my share of woes with Ryzens including finicky ram, motherboards dying, and now this fTPM crap that apparently only affects Ryzens. I have two friends in my small circle as I've gotten older who still rock years old i7 8700k setups without any qualms whatsoever, I honestly wish I had just went 8700k over the ryzen 1700 I initially got years ago, I truly regret ryzen in hindsight. Am highly considering an i5 12400 6 core 12 thread to ride out this console gen. I'd wager even a 10th gen i5 6 core 12 thread would last this entire PS5/Xbox Series X|S console gen. I even bought expensive good timing cl16 32gb 3600mhz ram to try and improve fps/a shot in the dark but it didn't help stuff much of any over my old 32gb cl15 3000mhz ram I was already using, I kinda put the whole "3600mhz ram or nothing!!!1" adage that certain elitists tried preaching to me about to bed with that real world testing. Fortnite has weird random stutters/fps drops, Dead by Daylight randomly does, Division 2 does, and I'm very disappointed in either my pc as a whole or the 3070 gpu for 1440p gaming, I kinda had a feeling that a more expensive gpu would be needed for 1440p due to unoptimized crap games needing a ton of oompth to brute force. I'm sorry, but a couple year old game should run at 1440p ultra fine, but Division 2 on dx11 since it crashes a TON on dx12 can't do it. It still crashes on dx11 but not as often. Ubi is kinda known for crap pc ports though. I'm just disappointed in 1440p fps as a whole even with DLSS on, but I think the root cause is this ryzen fTPM crap and I'm ready to just be done with ryzen and go to intel. I sure do miss the days of stone cold reliable set it and forget it Sandy/Ivy bridge. Where get i7=if you stream, and i5 if you're a gamer, and FX for budget builds. I never ended up streaming like I thought I would so the ryzen 1700/3700x's extra threads didn't help me any...encoding can be put on the gpu these days anyway. For some reason, some of the ryzen cult seems to forgive AMD for any problem they have, gobble up new higher MSRP parts up, and froth at the mouth to buy a new cpu model and higher speed ram every single year lol. It's genuinely SO bizarre to a non-biased person that has used Intel and AMD both over the years. One thing that really made me feel like I was in bizarro-land was, when the overpriced price gouged 5000 series came out, people acted like it "obliterated" the 3000 series, and acted like the 3000 series was basically worthless, when, just the year prior, they acted like the 3000 series was god's gift to mankind lol. And you just know the same thing is gonna happen with the 7000 series comes out at an even higher price this fall. I grimaced when I saw how much the 5800x3D cost. I just don't care anymore about obsessing over the latest and greatest nitty gritty specs, I've been around the block, and have a backlog large enough to last a lifetime as-is...I just want games to run smoothly period without all these problems I've had with ryzens over the years. I had a dunce of a sample of a ryzen 1700, it couldn't handle an OC plus fast ram so it was crippled one way or the other... e.g.- meh stock speeds and 2933 ram, or an OC and refusing to boot with anything over 2133 ram which crippled it. All these ryzen problems are genuinely ruining my love for pc gaming and pc's as a whole, I'm extremely close to saying screw it and just go to console, and plop down on my couch with a Series X in front of my 4k 120hz tv and not worry about this crap anymore. Sorry for the vent, this has been genuinely nerve wracking. Thanks for the video.
