Balance is fine as long juries don't kill the televote's winner from winning the whole thing like 2015 and 2016
nil erra i understand 2015 but in 2016 the juries winner didn't win either. The jury's 1st place came 4th in televoting and the tele winner came 5th in Jury, meanwhile the actual winner came 2nd in both. So technically no one choose the winner. Besides Jamala had more points in tele than Jury so technically the televoting did choose the winner. I personally should have preferred Australia or Russia to win over her.

I'm the oppodite and prefer Jamala over Dami and Sergey 😅 but I always stand with people's decision, but as you said Jamala did so much better with televote. Thank god Dami didn' win even tho she was good but not a winner for sure. Sergey would have been a deserving winner.
Lots of the time, the higher scoring song in the public (Poland 2016, Poland 2014, Romania 2017, Israel 2018) are the most memorably weird songs. While the jury is easy to bait and can overrated bland songs (Australia 2018, Sweden 2018). A balance is prefect, as terrible songs that have a silly costume get smashed, while the bland ones as well get smashed.

I pretty agree. Even tho my problem is when juries tried so hard to make a winner happen: Måns or Dami.
Juries did a great job from 2009 to 2012 imo.. but since 2013 they keep getting worse and worse. Still crazy how harsh they were on Italy 2018 or Estonia 2015. Questinable for sure. Poland 2016 deserved something better.
Even tho the balance makes the game more unpredictable which is good.
Anyway as I said, I'm fine as long the winner is decided by the public and millions of votes :)

Poland 2016 will be forever robbed for me. Same with Italy 2015. It's obv I am biased towards Blue (UK 2011) as a former fan. Denmark 2018 was amazing, wtf juries. But on the other hand Israel 2010, 2016, Slovenia (yes!) 2011 and UK 2009 deserved those jury points. So as I said before, they both can be right and wrong at times. There is no need to scrape the juries as some people insist.

If I can bump in this conversation, what I loved in Michal's performance was how he delivered it. He might not be the best singer but emotions were there, IMO the only one in 2016 who sang like that. Others were boring and flat to me. Austria was ok (but I don't like French language so I'm a bit biased).

Yup. He was the most warming singer that night for sure. He transmited a lot in his performance. Big appeal. Emotions were there yes and it's what makes people call :)
I think in some cases the jurors definitely had the right idea (like with Hovi Star) and sometimes I’m much more in agreement with the televote (like Jessy Matador)

Juries did good with France 2009, Belgium 2010 or Italy 2011 :)

Hovi Star was amazing, i would say that only times televote saved a truly good song were Belgium 2017 and Denmark, Ukraine and Italy 2018, although i like some of the other entries, but that is just my opinion

Italy 2015 will always be the winner for me. My favourite ESC song in the last ten years.
Olivia Mac Arthur, Thank you from Italy. We Italians find “Il volo” to be somewhat cheesy, at least the ones who aren’t fans, because they showcase a rather stereotypical image of Italy. However, it’s undeniable that they sing very harmoniously and with perfect syncing, so I guess it’s fair enough.

@@damirdominkovic Isaiah is a decent vocalist though, he just messed up for that one moment. I'm glad he got points from the jury because the public wasn't going to give him anything. Michal had the same thing happen to him in reverse.
Italy got robbed twice by juries and twice by televoters...

They didn’t get robbed...it’s the fairest system. Juries vote on vocal performance and televoters who are young and immature mainly vote on stupid novelty acts...thank goodness it’s not 100% televoters and thank goodness they restrict the number of votes per caller

eh, honestly it would of been hard for me to pick for 2018. Russia totally had me in 2016... and i swear it wasnt because of Sergeys sexiness >.> Moldova is kinda same position cause very catchy, was already popular worldwide cause of epic sax guy meme, and sax guy is hot imo as well, then theres 2018... dont get me wrong Italy is great, but there were so many songs i loved this year, and it makes me regret that i didnt get to see it live this year, but honestly, if i had to chose, i know atleast germany and moldova would be two of my choices for the top spot, maybe france *guitarist was attractive... damn men and their attractive states* i could of also seen belgium making top five if they werent ripped off this time, and bulgaria was pretty nice. though if i cut out those that seemed coppied (Bulgaria cause SIA, and Germany cause Ed sheeran) well itd be a bit easier, but we know they arent them. also i feel it would be cool if SIA actually participated for australia for a year

I absolutely hate the Juries from 2016. Color of Your Life and the Russian entry would have been great winners, instead the Juries put Australia and Ukraine in 2nd and 1st, songs which comprise of a chorus of the main singer screaming as backups actually sing
I mean the songs are fine, but not winner material, top 10 maybe, Poland and Russia we're winner material that year

I like the little old ladies' song _except_ for the beginning part, which is soooooo draggy and dirge-like. However, I'm guessing that it was written that way so that people would be surprised when they picked up the tempo. Rasmussen is probably my favorite on this list ("Higher Ground", Denmark 2018).

For example : If you would be 26th from juries with 38 points & 16th from televoting with 40 points.... so u would say that the difference is 10 places? Sounds funny right? The difference would be only 2 points and not 10 places...
MYESC Look. Some people watching this video can think, for example ,,Ooh Russia 2016 was so underrated by the juries", but it was 5th in the jury voting. The difference in points is pretty big, but this song in both - jury and tele - was in the top 5. So it can mislead.

MW2 no! It's better to compare points rather than places! Assume a country finishes 1st in jury vote and 3rd in Televote , there is no real difference you say but there was nearly 100 points difference, that's quite significant
Similarly last year a country getting 40 points in Televote was 11th place, whereas getting 40 points in jury votes would have put them in 20 something place
While they got equal points , the placing in both didn't match

2011 was probably a DISASTROUS year for televote choices. They picked a lot of duds (out-of-tune Blue, out-of-tune Russia, Georgia, etc.) over the likes of Italy and Slovenia.

I’m mostly on the juries side, especially in the Top Ten, where I only agree with televoters for 8th and 2nd place (putting Australia and Sweden lower than the juries) btw: Romania 2017 on 9th place was really a torture for the ears!
