      1: this is a training technique that the Army does already, multiple fights back to back.
      2: competitive BJJ is different from military unarmed self defense differs in aggressiveness in that our job is to finish the fight as fast as possible, often that means breaking contact to gain access to a secondary weapon. Finish the fight, submit or kill the opponent before they the same to us.

      Tell me where I’m wrong? A common training technique the Army uses is a bull in the ring type exercise: multiple bouts back to back. Fact is many schools teach this because it works.
      Next is that BJJ competitions are about points, same problem with competitive karate. Points goals have ruined modern karate because they pull punches.
      The reality is competitive BJJ is a game. For soldiers it’s for keeps.

    • @jamesalafayette8255
      @jamesalafayette8255 Год назад +2

      @@soonerfrac4611 “it’s for keeps”. You’re coming off as a tool. Soldiers have combatives tournaments too, also based on points. You can search for them on this very website. Plus you can’t name a single time where a Soldier had to use grappling to save his life. Stop coming off as a 19 year old POG.

    This makes me wanna take jiujitsu. I have bad anxiety though and hard cardio sometimes sends me into a panic. I'd like to find a class where it's just easy technical teaching without going right into heavy cardio.

      I was in the same situation, I was afraid to push my body to the maximum because I had some extrasystoles that made me very scared. Luckily with antidepressant medication I was able to control it and I have been doing jiu jitsu without any problems for almost a year now. I still warn you that rolling requires a lot of cardio.

      With proper training partners you can go as hard as you want to. I sometimes have super soft flow rolls, especially with the girls, and then sometimes I have those head-grinding bear-fights with former wrestlers.

      You can go to classes that just go through the technique. You don't have to roll like this if you don't want to, but if you do, the more experienced guys will just go at your pace. Get in touch with local gyms and see if they offer beginner classes.

      You can do it! Great advice in the other comments. A good instructor and experienced students should be able to teach you techniques and let you control the level of roughness. BJJ should be about training, learning in a safe environment and everyone needs to respect the Tap. You got this.

      I dont know what the gyms are like around you. But at Gracie gyms in the UK they start with GB1 for beginners that doesnt feature hard rolling, just specifics where you put techniques you've learnt into practice. GB1 will teach you a bit of fitness, self defence and fundamentals I highly recommend it! GB2 will intoduce more advanced techniques and rolling but you never have to roll if you're not comfortable or just explain to people you want to roll light and most people will roll at your pace. The majority of people I have met training BJJ have all been very nice, understanding and willing to help out. Hope you find something!
