Not that I disagree, but this is just another iteration in a fast growing market for devices. More and more manufacturers will compete to establish that perfect device. In the end, we consumers will win as there will more be varied options than might be if one manufacturer made something that most agreed was perfect.
Stereo sound, yes. Dual analog, not needed until emulation can do ps2 or GC or...xbox.
I'm with Evil Insesticon. There is no need for dual analog stick until the device can play n64 or ps2 games

@@mrkakotube Many of the late ps1 games like spyro or metal gear supported dual analog sticks. But as far as I remember only ape escape need it
I’m excited to see Chinese manufacturers prototyping with milled aluminum. Considering BoxyPixel offers a custom aluminum GBA for $245, I think it would be amazing if this retailed around $150 USD.

This looks amazing, especially with that overclocking! I'm guessing $150 or more for the all aluminum version. A plastic version with the 4 shoulder buttons would be a great start for us broke guys out here!
$150 sounds about right though I hope it’ll be less. Boxypixel sells aluminum GBC shells in the $60 range if that's any indication.

Game Kiddy, please make more of these. This seems much more like a quality product!
In terms of cost, I would be willing to pay around the £150 - £200 mark for a machine of this kind of performance. Of course a plastic cased version would be worth less, more around the £100 mark but an aluminium case is a premium feature most of the time and I know how expensive manufacturing those can be (especially if it is milled, although I would expect this to be cast).
i think if i were you i would just get switch lite for 170-200$ instead of this device.
With the GPD XD+ at around $190 on ebay I would expect an aluminum version of an $70-80 console to be $100-120.
With the Powkiddy x18 now as low as $100-110 it is a difficult spot.
I really like the aluminum body and the formfactor... but we honestly need a bit more hardware for the money here and I would sacrifice the aluminum housing if it meant I would get a better processor.
I am really curious as to why we dont see older snapdragons in these handhelds considering there must be some old stock somewhere...
An 835 or better with some tuning could run gamecube and with a dual stick system we could really see the market open up.
Honestly I would love to see a GPD XD 2 with a snapdragon 835 or 845. I would easily sell one of my gaming PCs and pick up one of those.
Keep an eye out on moqi devices. They relleased the i7s a while back with a 710 processor which is comparable to a snapdragon 825. It has a 1080p screen but the damn problem is the price at 400 bucks and no clickable sticks / l2 and r2 buttons.
Yea... the i7s is too expensive.
At that price you might as well buy a red magic 3 and a bluetooth controller.
I dont know why they cant seem to get it right... Theres cheap chips out there and theres systems with the right buttons and screen... Why it cant get put all together and sold around $200 is beyond me.
I've always said the first company to get gamecube running for a decent price would be a massive seller surely by now it's capable loads of of older chips out there bulk buy.
@@thegenerousdegenerate9395 we are accounting that these chinese companies are marketing for us which could possibly me the case. i will assume they are marketing for their demographic and cheaper hardware means greater profit. there is obviously a much larger market in chinese if that is what they are going for.

Damn this is beautiful. But I will never pay the price for this. No wait, I would, if I had money to spend. The only reason why I didn't buy the standard version of this was because it didn't have the LR2 buttons. So them being in this one is amazing. Ended up getting the pocketgo 2
I just ordered the Blue case GKD even though i really want this version but im still really excited for it and i cant wait to play a ton of my old favorite games.

I wish they would add the L2 and R2 buttons to the base model and also a tempered glass cover for the screen. I guess i'll just wait to buy something until I see if these upgrades make it to the base models.
I really hope they offer that for sale it looks like the best handheld for this year and in the next year the quality looks amazing and since I only play role playing games it doesn't matter to me if it uses both joysticks

I would absolutely buy one if it were available to me, simply for the metal build. I would say that 129 would be the most I would want to pay for something like this
It looks great, my only complaint is that it’s missing a second stick but on such a small device, I wonder how awkward it is to hold while using both sticks. It’d make playing Mega Man Legends 2 that much easier though.
Man this is a huge improvement, looks so nice. The only thing I would say is I would actually prefer the screen surround to be black, looks almost unfinished in grey. Also I imagine this will be notably more expensive than the original and that may be an issue. I think as it is $85-$90 (like the RG350) for this machine, baring in mind its relatively average emulation capabilities is reasonable, but with a CNC aluminium shell id imagine would be even more and not entirely sure would be worth it, although overclocking is nice.

As much as I would miss the right stick, this is probably the most likely one of these current handheld "Chinese" emulation machines I'd buy. It's not so much the aluminum shell, even though that's cool. It's the extra "trigger" buttons that the other gkd350 was missing and other small changes that got me. I'm sure this aluminum model would be a large premium over the original one, so I'd be happy if they just made a plastic one with the extra features shown here.
Geez, I'm probably putting more thought into buying one of these little things than I did into buying my laptop, phone and tv! You have to be discerning when purchasing this kind of cheap stuff though. Sometimes you get lucky and find a gem, but it's also very likely you'll wind up with a piece of junk if you don't do your research. Thanks for helping us all to decide!

It's certainly beautiful. The premium feel is part of why I still use a GBA Micro.
I've always wanted a Micro, but they're expensive! And they're about 15 years old now... the battery would be toast. Ah, one can dream.
I'll wait for the analogue pocket. Sure it has a smaller library but the games it can play will be flawless and look amazing

The device looks great. I would not pay extra for an all aluminum body unless this unit became a standard for a couple of years. New devices are coming out every 3 - 6 months.
Yeah, I want to see the metal shell able to be used with future chips so you can recycle it.
One very polished device. Does need the extra thumb stick and missing one is depriving the unit of it’s full potential. Still if I ever see the Alu mode for sale I’ll be picking one up.
The screen on the video looks already so good, the question is what would people pay for it.
149 dollar would be a no go simple because GPD Android would be better for that price.

Its a shame they dont offer the Aluminium console worldwide, would grab one right now. I may wait for the ZPG to drop worldwide or grab the Pocketgo V2 instead.
Dissapppointed by the lack of a USB Type C port. That was the only reason I bought an RG 350. Type C. If it didn't have that I'd take my LDK Game Landscape any day of the week. The smaller size, accessible brightness control, hardware power switch and volume wheel all make it so much more comfortable.
I hope this becomes available, I prefer the GK to the RG350 but I hate all it's color schemes.

I honestly don't miss the second stick at all. The only game that really requires two sticks that I remember is Ape Escape, with the rest being optional.

If it had Type C instead of Micro USB and dual sticks instead of just one then I would be all over this. As it stands though it feels like too little too late. With those changes it would be perfect, without them it just feels like they fell short playing catch-up to the other manufacturers.
Not sure about those screws sticking out in the back. And I hope they have a plastic version.

When and if this aluminum version becomes available to purchase from the US, I will buy one. Unfortunately the lack of L2 & R2 on the standard version makes it a deal breaker for me. I just ordered an RG350 Aluminum Alloy version because this isn't available yet. I understand the RG350 isn't as powerful and won't run many PSX games yet so I really want this version for PSX games.
I have one question, is the screen cover on the aluminum version glass or plastic?

if you wanna play retro games the switch lite is a horrible choice. its also horrible for the nintendo exclusives among other things 🤣
This is a great step in the right direction, but the lack of a 2nd stick and MOST IMPORTANTLY - Z & C buttons is still disappointing.
We don't' currently have a single developer working on N64 emulation and I don't think we will for a long time.
@@TakiUdon Was this in response to something else? I wasn't saying anything about N64 emulation - so I'm lost now haha.
Although, 6 face buttons is necessary IMO if you're gonna do N64 for C-Up and C-Right.
Is there any info on how much the RG350 overclock is in Hz - I tried it on some difficult PS1 games and only noticed a few FPS increase.

Id pay about $100. So far IMO this feels like the clear top contender among all the Chinese portables out there. The screen is Key, its looks so nice. The 3ds is a good comparison, a hacked 3ds can emulate pretty much everything, but its not every comfortable to hold and the screen has always looked cheap and washed out.

I just wish those were able to connect to wifi and stream some games. It would be awesome to have some functionality while playing it at home.
Love it generally, but its lacks the Analog-Stick on the right. Like you said around 9:24... really sad that they left that one out.
cant find this version anywhere to buy with the two shoulder buttons and alluminium designe, non of the GKD 350H on the internet have two shoulder buttons like this one. Is there eny comperable device on the market with two shoulder pads IPS display and maybe two joysticks ?

That power button is recessed though on the metal version. Hopefully that's just the case here since its not a final model? Idk.

I doubt someone would actually waste their time producing cases for these chinese retro consoles. The retro console manufacturers change their console design like they change their clothes.

the missing right analog is a bummer. some ps1 games reallly need it. arcade shumps in tate mode are not playable on this.
I JUST got my rg350. And NOW we get a way cooler cooler gkd350 with L/R 2's that made me skip it int he first place?
Edit: I don't like the huge gaps around the shoulder buttons, I feel they'll be solid lint in a few months

It needs dual sticks, for those games that use it.

My #1 feature request is: Run Ahead Latency Reduction
It works with Retroarch's libretro cores.
It uses double or triple CPU and it won't work for all systems, but it should work for NES, SNES, Genesis, GBA.
The emulation is not accurate and does not feel realistic without it.
Without RALR you do not get to feel what the game was like on original hardware, you're always playing an input laggy version.
This makes a big difference in some fast paced games.
Don't keep playing these games on dedicated gaming hardware with high input latency like it's no big deal... and not caring... and never mentioning it.... and never asking for it.
Don't keep forgetting to ask. This video made no mention of it!
Let's get some emulation going that feels like the original.

If there are no people that want to work on RetroArch, I can't change that. It doesn't look like that's going to happen at this point, not to mention the average person will never notice what you're referring to.
@@TakiUdon I think they actually will notice if they have 2 different portable consoles and they switch back and forth between them.
The average person would be able to notice that their reaction times are delaying and adjusting to the console without the RALR.
And they will naturally prefer to pick the better device. You get used to playing with the latency, when it's gone it feels different and you notice it.
GameKiddy is trying to set themselves apart with the highest quality level. Printing "Better than real hardware input latency!" on their marketing material is a big feature and helps GKD to be the best.

Taki, is there anyway to update the firmware? I know with the plastic body version you could safely dissemble the back plate but with this one don't know how doable it is..

@@TakiUdon The one I have has Phillips head screws. I'll carefully take it off. For flashing the the firmware is it similar to flashing an RG350?
