This channel has been very helpful. Please if you want, try to review as many handhelds as you can, you could even open a patreon so we can help fund those reviews :)
I think I want the successor to the GKD350H, if they watched this review and: add another of their superior joysticks (symmetrical opposite), and extend the top a bit would make room for L2+R2 and some better quality, stereo speakers. Screen, buttons, specs all look good, just need those last few missing touches. I hope they watch your reviews! 😎
I've had the GKD350 for a few weeks now and I really like it so far. My thoughts: - I don't play PS1 games so the lack of additional shoulder buttons isn't a concern for me - Personally the speaker placement doesn't bother me that much, I don't find it getting totally muffled. That being said I don't care all that much about the sound anyway and have it turned off half the time. - I like the feel of the d-pad and buttons. My only complaint button-wise is it can feel a little awkward to play a game where you have to use L/R all the time, it doesn't feel quite as comfortable as a classic SNES controller in that sense, but it's still totally playable. - Generally things play really well. I mostly play GBA and SNES and the experience has been good for both. - For some reason my Atari Lynx save states don't actually save after closing the emulator, other save-states work fine. - Some games don't run. I don't know why, if it's the emulator's problem or the rom is bad or what. But it happens. - It came with a game called Free Doom which I assume is a Doom port but it doesn't launch :( - Battery life is really good - I got the blue and think it looks nice Overall I think it's a great little machine.
Thanks! I want to play Mega Drive/Genesis, SNES, NES, GBA, TruboGrafx/PCengine... Those kind of games and no 3D games. I'll play 3D games on PC with retroarch. So GKD350H sounds perfect for me. I wonder if it will play C64 vice or Atari 2600 and Atari 500...
Great detailed, balanced review. Looking for something like this and your videos really help me make an informed decision. Thank you for all your work.
Great video! Thank you for your hard work! There is one thing I think is important to mention. Most ps1 games did NOT run at 60 fps. Most games struggled between 18-24 fps actually. There are a little more than 100 know 60 fps ps1 games, some of the popular ones are: Tekken, Ridge Racer, Mortal Kombat 4, Colin McRae Rally. Crash and Spyro were not among them, so I am not sure what you show running at 60 fps, maybe it just has an extra every second frame, but the game logic and controls should be tied to 30 fps or lower. I don't know if there is an option to lock the framerate in the shown emulator, but that would definetly liberate some CPU to have a decent overhead.
I’m so impressed by how thorough and informative the content in your videos are. I came here to check out the RG350. Also I think your lighting and camera work is phenomenal. You really capture how great the screens look and show off the devices.
I received my RG350 today. Super impressed and happy with it. Beats the crap out of my PiGrrl. 😀. So far all the games i like are running smooth. Tombraider 2/3 , Oddworld, gran turismo 2, Shipwreckers and Tekken 2, all runing like i remember them. Thanks again for this awesome channel. I will be 3d printing a cap to close off the right hand joystick, i dont think i will ever need it.
Thanks for the video! It was very informative. Based on what you showed, I think I’ll wait on the Pocket Go v2. It seems to have a happy medium between these two devices. I can’t wait to see your take on that device.

If you tried to sell me sand in the desert likely I would buy just because of how true you are and how good your videos are. no BS, just simple plain game being run and features, small details in the firmware.
I'm impressed that the only performance difference between them was about 10~15% of CPU usage running PlayStation games. I think that RG-350 is the better choice in general despite some controls drawbacks. The ideal low-cost portable emulation device would be a RG-350 with symetric buttons layout (right stick on top), a Ingenic JZ4780 processor (1.2 GHz, dual-core), and a slightly better screen. Maybe in the next generation.
@@jackpasser3885, for a better experience playing the available emulators I gess. Consoles like Dreamcast, PlayStation 2, and GameCube needs a high-end hardware to run with a average performance and it's definitely no "low-cost". Let's be a little realistic!
Even though these handhelds are pretty much obsolete at this point, it's nice to come back and see these reviews. I can't remember when the Gcw came out but after all these years and screen scratches it is still in great working condition. I would love to replace it with the RG350, if they would just move that right stick up top. I can picture both these devices having good longevity, and customer support from them was awesome. Another thing to point out. The dual thumb stick is a great way to orient for NDS games (if anyone ever ports an emu to display that way). You can have both screens show as intended!
The lack of shoulder buttons on the 350H is a big deal breaker for me. Playing games like Tombraider will be a bit tough using alternative mapped buttons.I ordered the RG350 today and I hope it will be able to play it. Im positive it will because TR3 on my pigrrl running a rpi2b works well enough. Never got tr2 to work though interested to see if it will run on this device. This channel is super appreciated. Thanks for the awesome content. Keep it up. I also noted some down votes on this video? What kind of dumbass would down vote it? Ther's litrally no reason...
Thanks for the info, I think I'd rather wait for the next hardware iteration. If they could combine the best features of both into one unit I'd be sold.
Ah.... still there's no perfect handheld. The 350H has a superior screen.... but lacks extra inputs and shoulder buttons. And the RG350 has all the inputs you need with a less than stellar screen. Sigh.
I had just bought my second LDK Game (first one broke) when your video on the RG 350 came out. The ONE feature that stopped me spending more on a used DS or PSP, was the propriety connector on them. Sure, the LDK has Micro-B, but any standard USB is better than proprietry. I sure felt silly having just spent $70AUD on a device with a mere Micro USB port when my unicorn was sitting there, right in front of me, flashing it's TWO Type-C ports at me.
I had it in the pocket of my jeans when I boarded a plane. Economy was pretty cramped, so I guess it got a little too tight in there or got pushed up against the chair. My jeans aren't very tight. It was just the screen that was cracked, so I had a look around for a replacement part, but it was almost as much to buy a screen as to buy a new machibe (yay Australian shipping), so factoring in the fact that if I bought a new manchine I'd also have spare buttons, speakers, case, motherboard, battery, and an extra SD card, I decided that it was worth it to buy another one.
The right analog stick is a deal breaker for me on the rg350. And the lack of R2 and L2 is a deal breaker on the gkd350. I'll keep an eye out for future devices. Great video! 👍
Hi Taki, i buyed a powkiddy retroid but it was a deception, i sell it and buy an anbernic rg350p because your videos, you do an amazing job in this videos, thanks
Hey, great comparison! No nonsense straight to the point while still being entertaining. I think both of these are overpriced though, especially since you can get the powkiddy x18 for only a few bucks more which is essentially a gpd xd clone. It has a bigger screen and better hardware then either of these things with a bigger battery as well and also runs Android. I get these devices are fundamentally different because they run open dingux I think. But the price is just to high in my opinion. The switch lite is only $100.00 more then these.
I was inclined towards the Game Kiddy 350H (because it's skinnier), but only two shoulder buttons kill it for me. I also don't understand why they don't put the joystick on the other side (under ABYX), for some games much more sense. It looks like RG350 wins in almost every category!
One thing you didn't mention is that the GKD has no GPU, so it can only perform software rendering. The RG however has a GPU (though with subpar drivers) which allows it to support OpenGLES. That rules out N64 emulation on the GKD, as it relies on GPU specific plugins... while it gives a better potential for future development to the RG. Also build quality seems far superior on the RG, though I have not seen the GKD in the flesh 😁
I mentioned that in my last review, but yes you are correct. The only problem is that OpenGL isn't really being used outside that small technical demonstration video. The differences in software updates may make these devices easier to choose between.

Thanks!
Hmm... as of today my pick would be the RG350. I think I'll wait for the release of the new pocketgo though, since it looks promising as well.
Thanks for the knowledge it helped alot
You are the best (ordered a GDK 350H cause that SCREEN and LAYOUT)
Another thing to point out. The dual thumb stick is a great way to orient for NDS games (if anyone ever ports an emu to display that way). You can have both screens show as intended!
Thanks taki for the upload and the info debating a device like these two for a xmas gift for my lady .ether that or a xbox controller ..
Ther's litrally no reason...
great comparison vid thanks 😎👍
Thanks for the info, I think I'd rather wait for the next hardware iteration. If they could combine the best features of both into one unit I'd be sold.
Ah.... still there's no perfect handheld. The 350H has a superior screen.... but lacks extra inputs and shoulder buttons. And the RG350 has all the inputs you need with a less than stellar screen. Sigh.
The screen is the same. Only difference is one has a protector, the other not so much. Gimme the protection
@Vegito Charmara unless you've seen both side by side I'd disagree. This is video of video on a protector. Aren't they both ips screens?
@@ohdaUtube They are not the same screens at all.
Thanks for the comparison video. I guess I'm gonna wait for the new PocketGo before choosing one.
How'd your LDK break? I have both versions, but I find the first one to be much better.
Great content!
The right analog stick is a deal breaker for me on the rg350. And the lack of R2 and L2 is a deal breaker on the gkd350. I'll keep an eye out for future devices. Great video! 👍
Thank you for the great review 滝うどん!
Nice review of both systems! Any comment on how hot these systems get under full load? Did you notice any screen-tearing on either system?
They never really felt hot to me and it's typically 90F where I live, so I'd know what hot feels like.
Only negative for the x18 is the Chinese rom.
Help us, general Miyoo, you're our only hope!
Great video! Subbed!
You mention running retroarch on the RG-350 to improve SNES performance, can you also do the same for N64?
Yes and no. No one has compiled the core for that system yet.
thank you so much, mate :D
makes me so mad that they didn't just put the right joystick above the buttons
I was inclined towards the Game Kiddy 350H (because it's skinnier), but only two shoulder buttons kill it for me. I also don't understand why they don't put the joystick on the other side (under ABYX), for some games much more sense. It looks like RG350 wins in almost every category!
Great video.
Which game is being shown at 0:08-0:11?
Edit: Nevermind, found it in the comments. It's "Popful Mail" (Sega CD). Thanks Udon.
Can they do co-op? Also can it run X-men the arcade game?
Awesome side by side review. As I would most like to play ps1 and n64 games in the future, the RG350 would be my best choice right?
