I misspoke when referring to PSX settings. You need to disable HLE bios to be able to play games like CTR, Diablo, and some versions of MGS. You can also mod this device to have L2/R2 buttons by wiring your own switches directly to the board. It's already implemented in the system.
Just ordered an RG350 and now I'm partially debating my choice. But fully open source is a big deal, so even though the specs of this are clearly better, I'm worried about its dev community being smaller / nonexistent. Oh and the lack of L2/R2 is kind of dumb.

Okay so Starfox clearly _isn't_ running perfectly because it's not supposed to play at 60 fps. It doesn't play at 60 fps on original hardware. That's way too fast. Starfox is supposed to be about 15 fps. Yoshi's Island is clearly running too fast too. Both of which are Super FX games (Yoshi's Island is Super FX 2). I would hope there's a way to enable some kind of frame limiting for them.
Not sure why a second trigger button set is needed either. As a retro device there is hardly anything that needs them that this device could actually run.
Considering the lack of holes for the speaker, there's no wonder why it's so tinny. I'd say drilling some more holes, or making the holes bigger will make it better.

I didn't know this and I wish it was in the video but R2 is assigned to Joystick right, L2 is assigned to Joystick Left and L2+R2 is assigned to Joystick up. SNES runs perfect other than the special chip games.

Another great review Taki. Keep em coming! The little quirks you mentioned here and there seem like small things that can be ironed out as they progress with updates(or releases to public if they choose). I too wish for L2/R2 as well as the 2nd thumbstick. From what we see and through your review there is definitely a ton of power under the hood of this device. A real shame if they missed that full potential by falling short on the controls. Could be a deal breaker for some if they specifically wanted to play emulators needing those added functions. When you have had the device apart, did you happen to see anything on the pcb to indicate any traces leading to allow any extra inputs to be added/modded on the rear? Just wondering if us DIY'ers could add to this. Of course thats half the struggle, we then would need access to the kernel to get it working hehe.

Fantastic! Worked perfectly! Now I am happy again! Thank you! And on a side note: For me personally and the games that I play, even some PS1 titles, the GKD350H is much mote comfortable for extended play sessions than the RG350 just because of the button layout as I rarely make use of the joysticks nor the 2nd pair of shoulder buttons! Will try the PlayGO when I get it next week though and see if this console can replace the GKD350H in the future!
I don't think it's a joke that software on these devices come with their own faults, it'd be a joke if you can't update the software, since most of them seem to be open source projects that constantly receive updates.
Hello Taki. Please help me: are you able to set the cpu at 7th performance level sono that you dont need to set everytime you power off and on? Is it possibile to set it permanently?
Hi Taki. 1st thank you for the great videos. I mostly would like to play retro RPG games such as "Romance of the three kingdoms", "Nobunaga Ambitions" and "Final Fantasy". Should i wait for this or the RG300 is good enough? Thank you for your kind advise.

Hi Taki. thanks for your review and keep making great content. I would like to make a couple of questions: 1) Do the Game Kiddy 350H and the RH350 are made from the same company? I ask because the follow a very similar form factor. 2) Due to more buttons and more Inputs, do you believe RH350 can be a better alternative, or the performance from Game Kiddy 350H is much more superior? 3) Can the RH350 USB ports be used to connect external controllers? By the way, if a portable device could be made with th I/O from RH350, the power from GK350H and support to external controllers, I believe that would be awesome.
Yeah, but then you have to suffer through Android. Once it’s customized, it’s not so bad, but until then, it’s a bit of a pain. Also wish this was opened to FOSS development, as I think that would have helped tremendously. Also mindboggling that it somehow only supports 128MB of RAM. That works for retro emulation, but man, does it feel bad.
There is a cheap 7 inches handheld called X16. I wonder would it be easy to make it a MOD, where you install a pi zero or something in it, and have a linux portable 7 inches screen handheld...
This is almost what I'm looking for but can it support 4 Bluetooth controllers with minimal lag? Roughly, I'm looking for something like this that I can plug into my friends TV on the go and play 4 player goldeneye or Mario Party 3
@@TakiUdon damn... I'm honestly eyeballing an xperia 1 phone then. It has a return of hdmi out, can connect 4 ps4 controllers and has ps4 remote play. Full android retroarch app compliant too. Unless you can recommend something better for the features I'm looking for? The only thing I'm missing is the ability to connect an external hard drive
Oh hey, this is...pretty much just a better, more ergonomic version of the other 350 I just saw you talk about. Shame there's no right analog or L2 and R2; that would seal it. Also, the fact that the stick is slippery AND rotates is a recipe for disaster; they should prevent it from rotating and give it a better grip; perhaps a cross of little bumps. The speaker also clearly needs to be moved and improved; eve downward firing speakers under the device would be an improvement, but a best case scenerio would be placing them as tiny front facing stereo speakers underneath or above the screen, assuming the LCD housing gives them enoufh room to place them there. would A couple of buttons next to the stick so you could hold this sideways for vertical shooters would also be nice. Also, this NEEDs to be more open, or course. Homebrew developers are needed to make any device like this successful. As an aside, Star Fox is in fact running too fast; while there are no visible issues, the ingame framerate (not the framerate counter) should be lower when emulated correctly; things are happening way too fast.
hello sir, could you made a detail comparison for this device vs the ldk landscape. are they basically the same? thank you for this great video. cheers. :)
Faster than a CM3+ based handheld? I get that it's faster than the jz4770 used in other handhelds like the Anbernic RG350, so it's probably the fastest MIPS based handheld. But I'd like to see how it compares to a CM3+ handheld. I would also agree with other folks that the lack of R2/L2 and a 2nd analog stick is a dealbreaker for me.
Hi, I'm interested in the GKD350H or the Retro Game 350P. I'm wondering if they would be able to load the Android App on them and load games from the App store, such as the Atari apps? Is this possible, anyone?
Please help me. I have received it (no games inside) and I am using a sd card games from my RG300, but only mega drive games works! No snes and no GBA games... blank screen or load error!

Sir, one short question.
Does GKD350H support USB OTG?
(for wifi dongle or external controller)
Thanks :)
Saw thier web address on the back panel, it doesn't come up however :-(
pls where do you get this version with black boutton?
This thing came out of no where
Taki, do you think this has a better dpad and buttons (in terms of responsiveness and feel) than rg350, or overall same?
Planning on doing a video on both devices next to address this.
你是中国人吗?If you're referring to just SNES titles, either console would be great. I own both and really enjoy the retro style of the 300. Go with whatever device has the best style/price for you.
@@TakiUdon thank you for your kind advise. I am from Singapore 👋😀
Where can I get this? Not seen it on eBay or aliexpress yet
Well this has yet to release officialy right? So could it be possible that the l2 r2 may be added before it goes up for sell.
Yes, that is possible.
@@TakiUdon if thats the case ill have to pick this up too, give my rg350 to my friend. I wonder if the emulators support wireless connectivity between open dingux. 2 player action would be sweet.
I wish these designers would STOP with Micro USB and give us USB-C
I don't, all my stuff is micro usb
I don't see the big deal?
Chilly64 it’s just a thing everyone seems to go on about. No idea why... USB C is a bit of a mess
@@NTB_Retro because people freak out having to own 2 different cables
@Charles Lee Ray wish the main guy would release the aluminium version already. taki grabbed one and i was like...........................................man. wish that was available globally.
where do you actually but these though? nothing is coming up in Amazon.
They haven't been listed there yet.
Is there an option for custom firmware on this device?
The software bottleneck is unforgivable. I was waiting for this, but I will buy the RG350. The wrong layout is a big issue for me, but the open source software is essential
Can you confirm the sound being Stereo on the supported games/emulators over the headphones ?
It's mono
@@TakiUdon Thank you very much, only seen your reply now.
where to buy?
Can somebody please tell me what game he is playing at 6:46?
Searched Google but couldn't find a link to buy...
Hello...
I am having scrolling issues (Super Mario World, DKC....) not very fluid using both SNES emulator... please help me
Hi Taki. thanks for your review and keep making great content. I would like to make a couple of questions:
1) Do the Game Kiddy 350H and the RH350 are made from the same company? I ask because the follow a very similar form factor.
2) Due to more buttons and more Inputs, do you believe RH350 can be a better alternative, or the performance from Game Kiddy 350H is much more superior?
3) Can the RH350 USB ports be used to connect external controllers?
By the way, if a portable device could be made with th I/O from RH350, the power from GK350H and support to external controllers, I believe that would be awesome.
They are made by different companies. I'm going to address your other two questions in a follow-up video.
funny how the retroid pocket 2 just shits all over this system. XD
I totally dig the overall design, but for PS1 emulation it really does need a 2cnd 3D nub as well as L/R2 buttons.
There is a cheap 7 inches handheld called X16. I wonder would it be easy to make it a MOD, where you install a pi zero or something in it, and have a linux portable 7 inches screen handheld...
The lack of built in screen protection is a dealbreaker for me.
Does it come with pre installed game's or do I need to add roms on to it?
This is almost what I'm looking for but can it support 4 Bluetooth controllers with minimal lag?
Roughly, I'm looking for something like this that I can plug into my friends TV on the go and play 4 player goldeneye or Mario Party 3
There's no 64 emulator for the 350H at this moment :/
@@TakiUdon damn... I'm honestly eyeballing an xperia 1 phone then. It has a return of hdmi out, can connect 4 ps4 controllers and has ps4 remote play. Full android retroarch app compliant too.
Unless you can recommend something better for the features I'm looking for? The only thing I'm missing is the ability to connect an external hard drive
They should have at least put a micro HDMI out you would’ve just had to buy an adapter to put it on the TV then but it would still have been possible
How would you compare this to the RG350?
As an aside, Star Fox is in fact running too fast; while there are no visible issues, the ingame framerate (not the framerate counter) should be lower when emulated correctly; things are happening way too fast.
hello sir, could you made a detail comparison for this device vs the ldk landscape. are they basically the same? thank you for this great video. cheers. :)
LDK is significantly weaker than this device to be perfectly honest. It's night and day.
@@TakiUdon thank you for your quick reply. wow, that is promising. any idea on the price and where to get it?
Faster than a CM3+ based handheld?
I get that it's faster than the jz4770 used in other handhelds like the Anbernic RG350, so it's probably the fastest MIPS based handheld.
But I'd like to see how it compares to a CM3+ handheld.
I would also agree with other folks that the lack of R2/L2 and a 2nd analog stick is a dealbreaker for me.
I'd be curious to see how this compares to the retro game 350.
That's my next video
Hi, I'm interested in the GKD350H or the Retro Game 350P. I'm wondering if they would be able to
load the Android App on them and load games from the App store, such as
the Atari apps? Is this possible, anyone?
Where do you buy this?
In China
Please help me. I have received it (no games inside) and I am using a sd card games from my RG300, but only mega drive games works! No snes and no GBA games... blank screen or load error!
Are you navigating to correct files? Try unzipping the files
Taki Udon yes they are the correct ones but zipped! Thank you, i didn’t know that the RG300 read zipped files but the GKD 350H does not.... do you know why?
Also, do I have to update the fw? How ? Thank you 🙏
Where does one buy one of them or the others that are mentioned
The 97 is on amazon. This will be available for purchase soon.
