The GKD 350H was originally supposed to launch months ago with the promise of being able to order directly from an international website. At that time, the RG350 was taking the scene by storm selling like wildfire for $90. Since then, more devices have entered the market and it was starting to look like we would never get an international release of this product. With only a few weeks left in the year, Game Kiddy has managed to pull a rabbit out of a hat to launch their long-awaited retro handheld, the GKD 350H. In this video, I cover the new color models available for international sale and sit down with the developer of this console to ask some of the community's burning questions.
GKD 350H Specs:
1.5-1.9 GHz MIPS CPU
128 MB Ram
32 GB Internal SD
2300 mAh Battery
3.5 inch 320x240 IPS

I need to have this even if your review is great Taki Udon.
By the way really cool you communicate with the people who design and make these handhelds.
Keep making these great reviews I enjoy them.

Don't worry he got the N-word pass bruh, he wouldn't carelessly say twice in a row

im from North California, you ever been to the bay? everybody say that shit. stuck in the past??
idk if anyone else noticed but that was neat when the dev explains xiao gui / how Game Kiddy got the name, you can hear his child laughing in the background. Taki Udon - your reviews are stellar, especially this one. Keep it up!
Yeah, I thought that was a good touch!
Great work taki its great to hear the voice of the developers.
Im super fascinated by the scene in china its hard to connect to the people working on these devices so your channel is a nice breath of fresh air on that front.
If you can get more behind the scene looks into how these things come together im sure that'd be great content for your channel
I've said it before. Your reviews are so well done. Thank you for working to keep the retro gaming community informed. There are only one or two other channels I bother with. Keep them coming!
Taki, I think I love your channel. You work very hard to record and edit every video properly. Also, hearing actual developer of the system was so nice.
Thanks for eveything you do for the community.
Omg this seems the best 3.5 inch handheld to me so far aesthetically, and actually, I wouldn't want to emulate ps1 on this handheld so shoulder button isn't an issue, but I would love to see a Type C port and it will be perfect!! plus it's so damn cool to interview the actual maker, I think he's focus on simplicity is wonderful, hope you guys keep in touch and relate our opinions back to him and produce even better products!
I think its cute the guy named his company to something that reminds him of his own kid.
It's the cringiest name in this part of the galaxy though.
Looks like the spiritual successor to the LDK
it really does.
I love the interviews! No other channel provides these!
Ridge racer type 4 is my ultimate love 20 years later.
Omg, finally... I thought I'm not gonna live to see the day. Thanx, Taki, awesome video as always.
Looks like someone took a 3ds and chopped the top half of the system off
Hopefully every one of these devices are dual analog for the next gen. Also dual shoulders.
And USB C.
Usbc is asking for a lot compared to the exrra buttons. Because of the specs of usb c (potential for higher voltage charging etc) it is more expensive and more difficult to implement than the incredibly mature micro usb.
I'm not steadfast on USB C but I would like to see L2 R2, and an additional analog stick in the next round of emulation handhelds standard across the board. Have a feeling it will be the standard for all future handhelds as long as the tech remains within the magic threshold of 90 to 100 USD, but idk maybe I'm asking for way too much
The newest PocketGo is USB-C
@@GoingtoHecq yet somehow they managed to do all that in a little package I like to call the RG350. Amazing right? Im actually a little pissed over all the hype for this bloody unit, however, let's for a moment pretend that the RG350 didn't exist, would this unit then be great? No. It's in the verge of greatness without the greatness. The omissions in this unit, coming out AFTER the RG350, are confusing and slightly mad IMO.
@@sludgefactory241 I'm good with a slightly higher price-point if the specs are worthy of the investment. This is not.
No L2 and R2 but will still get it for my little cousins so they can experience old school games.
I know what you mean but its not to bad ;)
The pocket go version 2 is on sale and has r2 l2 buttons and plays all the same games
@@jaycebailey8522 but the CPU is quite different. 350h has a better performance on some game due to the higher CPU Hz.
Do you not like your little cousins?
perfect for me who just wants to emulate snes, gba, and gbc! I have a psp to do the ps1 emulation though it lacks physical l2 and r2
rarara rarara might as well get the original 2DS for that
rarara rarara you just gotta install CFW,it’s pretty easy
@@royaltyallen1162 2ds that are used and are a bit beaten up go for about $80-$100 in my country so nahh and the 3ds go for anywhere from 150$ above
Joystick could use for l2r2 when you play PS games in GKD350H.
I'd suggest the pocketgo2
It's got l2 r2 analog it can do ps1 gbc SNES gba
It's 60$ I believe so it's cheaper too.
3:49 at work in the lunch room : OH LOOK HE'S GOT HIS GAME KIDDY
N64 would be the dream, and an option for better key laying. You can play maybe Hexen but you can't use all necessary Funktions like crouching . But you can make it work with combine buttons like r1 + o. But they miss something small that would makes a big difference...
If anyone's interested I've just bought a unit from the Aliexpress link provided and wasn't a massive fan of the colourful buttons. I sent a message to the seller asking if it was possible to replace the buttons with black ones seen in the test models. Less than an hour later I recieved a message saying they would send a set of black buttons with my device. Hope this helps anyone wanting the same.
Did you received it? Does they sent the old model instead or they change it?
Nice vid Taki I like em dude...the blue and aluminum👍
Looking on ali for it.. what to use.. I like all of the colours... only can have 1 :P
@@WickedGamerCollector right hard decision ;)lol
Are there solder points on the board to mod in L2 & R2? Or maybe add a second analog stick?
The points are there if you wanted to DIY your own L2/R2. That's how they were implemented in the metal version.
Where were you considering putting them? under the L1 R1 or on the bottom of the case?
@@AndrewAHayes The only place I've seen it done so far is to the sides of battery cover. It's a very cheap mod.
@@TakiUdon I do hope PowKiddy release the aluminium version, if not I wonder if they would release the Gerber files so we can mill our own, its probably a no but you never know
Why is that so hard for manufacturers to figure out. Nothing worse than blinding LEDs. Glad to see they're an exception.
Wow. You got the actual developers to talk to you? That's, just, really cool.
I would have done it sooner, but he's a very busy guy
If we could get that metal one perhaps with two shoulder buttons... that'd be perf
RG350 TEAM !
Taki, you mentioned that the blue system came with black buttons that you swapped out, does that come with the white one as well? I like the white but would prefer that it had black buttons to the rainbow.
I was going to ask what CPU this has, but I see you mentioned in another reply it is x1830. Good to know for reference. Interesting to hear about the JZ4770 status. I assumed it was out of production, being so old, but it was strange to see it show up again in recent products. The JZ4770 is good for enough systems for me in a machine like this. I had an liked my GCW Zero, though I damaged it, which is why I refer to it in the past tense. I'm also not surprised to hear they're emulating the look and feel of the GCW. The design was very good, with landscape format and button layout. I get the desire to have four shoulder buttons as they would be useful, especially in a system that has the power to handle PS1. I think I'd be fine without them as I don't have high interest in PS1 emulation, though they can be useful for other reasons as well. A second stick seems even less important considering the library of PS1, but it also seems difficult to include in well in this format. Yes, a second analog would fit, but it may also get in the way. There are always going to be some trade offs with systems like these.
I would have guessed Game Kiddy to be derived from Game Boy, so it was interesting to hear the origin was different. I didn't see it covered in the review, if you can, I'd like to know more about the range of brightness, such as how wide the adjustment range is, and specifically how dim it can get. With that said, it looks like a good product and the screen seems very nice. Also, an excellent review/overview. I like how thorough you are with these. Thank you.
I'll film brightness on this in my next video. It's just difficult to film because it causes flickering in camera when recording
@@TakiUdon Thanks very much for replying and looking into it. I understand that shooting screens is not without its issues. Even a description of the level of adjustability and how dim it can go would suffice for me, but I understand that you'd want people to see for themselves. Thanks again.
I really hope they would go with a android go + arm A53 or above CPU, still going to be cheap and easy to develop, also gives players many more game choice. I really want to play PS and NDS game on a small device like this.
Debating on snatching one when it drops to $50-60 or waiting for something like this with dualsticks/triggers that's powerful enough to run N64. I do really like the colored buttons, reminds me of the SFC.
Transparent is 🔥 because you can spray paint the inside
So, Taki, just found this world of retro gaming handhelds, know nothing of using emulators or anything like this. I guess I'm not fully understanding, which one out of the best ones you know can you just buy it and be done, like all of the games are already on there? or is there a process you have to go through to then get the games on the device? Thanks for any response!
This looks pretty cool
Looks really nice, now we need some company to create the ultimate device without missing things like l2 r2, dual analog, stereo speaker, removable battery and usb type c port :), bigger screen would be cool too
Looks solid for sure. Not sure why everyone is printing all these off the wall colors and translucent cases, but not a solid black matte or dark grey finish. Real shame, because I like the Nintendo Switch aesthetic they were going for. The lack of an L2/R2 and no type c connector is a bit of a turn off and it still has less ram than a RG350 or Pocket Go2.
I was going to order one right away, but estimated delivery time to Germany is more than 2 months, which is way too long.
And other shipping options with a bit better delivery times cost more than the device itself.
Let alone going and fetching it from the German customs when it's finally delivered and paying 19% VAT there, as I already had to do with other devices from China.
I really hope one day to see it on Amazon (RG350 is already there btw), or at least at some Chinese store with adequate shipment time.

I don't believe those shipping estimates are accurate. I'll ask what's up.
Thank you for the review. The negatives on this device in comparison to the RG350 are puzzling. No second shoulder buttons, no glass screen screen, micro usb connectivity instead of of USB C, mono speaker, single joystick without a cap. Is this unit really addressing the same market segment as the RG350?
And on top of all that is just 10 dollars cheaper
@@Adamstech Last site I checked wanted 5 bucks more for this unit OVER the RG350. That's just straight up insane.
@@STR82DVD That's a joke! this looks like it arrived in 2017
@@Adamstech Agreed! BTW, love your Pi handheld builds, great stuff young man!
@@STR82DVD Thanks for watching man! I really appreciate it!
This may be a dumb question but how come the metal one has two shoulder buttons but the others don’t?
Agree on the second analogue joystick, but he didn't answer about the missing R2 L2 shoulder buttons. With PS1 emulation they really are a necessity!
He said it was because the GCW Zero didn't have either of those.
left joystick can be use for l2r2 when play PS games.
I wish one of these devices can support wireless multiplayer, that’s what I’m really looking for!
That comes I think in 2025 :p Whahaha...
You have a good point with that.
You will see wireless co op in a handheld in mid January. I tested it this weekend.
I have a ton of PS1 games downloaded from PSN to my PSP. The PSP also only has single shoulder buttons, but maps L2 and R2 to the analog button. Never had a problem with any game. If there's any way to do the same mapping for this guy it would be cool.
There is, I covered that in my review of the metal version of this guy
Is there a guide anywhere for how to add roms to this device?
put them on a micro SD and insert it into the external slot. I put my roms from my smartphone (Android) and it works very well
What is the better option to buy? This GKD350H or GPiCase, i really only care about GBA,SNES,NES,...and i´am not into PS1 games too much.
This if you don't want to put up with the hassle of managing PI or removable batteries.
Get the retrogame 300. Best one and form factor for playing those games
@@TakiUdon And will be GKD350H better option than Pocket go 2?
Hi taki really finding it tough to add games can u help me please inserted micro SD but can't access plugged into pc but not recognised as device......help
taki udon, could you ask the developer why the REGBA emulator has drop frame rate all the time? it does not work well...
Will you do a comparison between the GK350H , POCKETGO2 AND THE RG350?
Yes
blazing star is working on this gamehandheld! so i buy it
I will wait for metallic version... I dont know if its better than RG350 or PG2...any how it very hard to chose fm all 3 of them aa the performance are +/- same and each one have their ovn pros and cons. By now some of them could make one ultimate (all the pros fm thous 3 devices) retro handheld in metalic casing (optional), usbC, external SD cards, exchangable battery, good quality button's with good layout and good performance.(also maybe some wifi/Bluetooth modul for 2 player mode in future soft versions) Also it would be nice if it would have some spare parts for mod. Like different height/structure joysticks, buttons etc. ... But all of them seams like one time projects. We will make something good but not good enough.
just ordered a grey one. wondering if we will ever get any progression of Nintendo 64 performance on this system? or would it never be able to run n64 in the future?
Hey taki, what's the smallest handheld would you recommend for someone wishing to play psp games? or possibly but unlikely gamecube/ps2? I know it wouldn't be within the price range of something akin to the game kiddy but im looking for a second opinion. was initially thinking of getting the gpd XD plus, however that seems a bit big for my taste.
Unfortunately, this and the XD+ cannot run PS2. If you want to run GameCube and PS2, the cheapest option would be to buy a Snapdragon 855 with a Bluetooth controller.
Wait! Where's the volume control on this thing? Why's nobody talking about it?
Start+right
Deal breaker for me. Even worse than the massive 'Game Kiddy' branding. Thanks for commenting.
@@TakiUdon Shame. Thanks anyway.
can you get the black buttons anywhere?
Is the SNES screen shake you reported a couple of months ago fixed now?
Yes, but you need to switch between the two emulators that this thing comes with
@@TakiUdon thanks!
Taki, can you do a direct comparison with the pocket go 2? Thanks!
I dont see anything in the link, it is because its to soon or because I'm from Spain?
Great video, as always
That's strange, you should have been able to see it.
I always wanted to visit there...Spain ;) I bet its pritty nice over there.
What game is being played at 6:39? looks dope
MadCyantist right? Looks like a dope metal slug
This seems like the right place to ask. I just bought one of these systems and cannot load games onto it. I have tried using the micro-sd slot, but cannot seem to navigate to the games from the emulators and despite what the instructions say, plugging it directly to a computer only charges it. What am I doing wrong here? Thanks.
You need to enter the sd into the computer
I'd love to buy the aluminum one 👍👍
Hey Taki, I’m coming to Shen Zhen in the next couple of days. I’m looking to get a retro handheld from one of the markets, assuming I can’t find this one which one do you recommend?
If you're in Shenzhen and you have a friend that can use Chinese apps, try and get the metal 350H. You'll easily be able to get this one for a cheap price, but you will need someone that has access to Taobao. You can grab this for around $50.
6:35 mans had to drop the word twice
is there a somewhere a github or so of the dingux software? i found github.com/retrogamehandheld/GKD-350h but there is nothing there.
The price is a bit high to me here in Brazil. It'd be worth it if they had the dualshock control scheme as you've mentioned, and could run PS1 games better.
If there's a version 2 then I might get that. For now I'll pass because my hacked 3DS XL suits the "old school game emulator" purpose just fine.
Great review. Question: are there any handhelds that support 2 player via bluetooth or wifi, as in, I have a handheld and my forend also has a handheld, and we can play games such as Streets of rage together??
Yes and hopefully I'll be able to publicly talk about it soon.
That all black pocket go 2!
What’s the point of the extra power if it’s lacking the buttons necessary for the systems that would use it?
It also outperforms the other units in arcade games and those don't require any of those buttons
Quite...as many others are commenting on the same point...there's a glimpse of the silver alloy one with 4 shoulder buttons...other than that I haven't seen it...so never mind N64 or Dreamcast or GameCube...there's not even a device yet that can even run Tomb Raider PSX..they either have old slow 600 to 1000Mhz processors or now this 1500Mhz to 1900Mhz handheld without enough buttons...unless the L2 R2 model at the beginning of this video becomes available theres only the PSP/PS Vita...specs
Hi, not sure if it was covered- does it run cps3? I'd love to have SF3 on the go. Thanks!
I talked about it. CPS3 runs, but at 6 fps.
@@TakiUdon ohh...there goes my Hope's and dreams lol! thank you!
All you need is a Raspi 3 modded Gameboy ;)
Does it have a frameskip button?
the link brings me to a signin/register page, but not to the console. we can't see it if we dont have an account?
I have a hacked vita, and it's great for ps1 and psp, but the emulators suck. Even gba and snes have a lot of slow down on some games. Even a link to the past has slow down. I might pick up one of these types of handhelds. Not this one though, maybe a revision of this.
Are you using retroarch? I remember PSVita had gba decent emulation.
@@xeienar MGBA now. I hate retroarch. They are both decent for gba, especially after a very recent update, not great though.
Sort of contradictory as the dev team saw two shoulder buttons as useless, however they did utilize such functionality in the aluminium variant.
The aluminium one was made by a DIYer. The contacts already exist on the board to enable that feature.
@@TakiUdon Did not know that, thanks for clearing it up!
The best "SNES handheld" is here 👍
Which game is at 7:00 ? thanks!
For me much better than the RG350... better screen and more comfortable.... it is important for me more than more buttons...
I used to play PS1 games with my PSP GO which had only 2 shoulder buttons and it was fine. If you can map the buttons, you won't feel any difference. But if you compare the GKD 350H to the Pocket Go 2 and the RG 350, it's not so appealing to a person who plays a lot of PS1 games. Maybe in the next revision, they fix that! ;)
Quite the opposite. 350H can run most of PS games with no problems at all due to a better CPU compared with 350.
Whoa.. awesome. Whats the price?
$70
Will this run street fighter alpha 3 on fba?
I bought an Ipega Bluetooth gamepad for my phone... Though playable, I still can't get past the fact that there is some latency that makes me wanna buy this one instead.
Still no mass release for the metal version. But prices I see are well over 100 usd. 180usd is a hard price to swallow.

Taki Udon The red PocketGo 2? And black-on-black PocketGo 2 (which looks amazing)
New Pocket Go in Black !!!! No way , i ordered mine already and it will come in white ! Lucky man Taki !!!!!

Can it support wireless for the gba games?!
That ram thou!!
I really hope we get more USB C offerings, everything I use has a type c connector and its a nuisance on my LDK to carry something around that I can't charge or only charge occasionally.
That retro came out to late in this year. New retro are coming with R2 and L2 now. Those are a must... the RG350 is the best right now of 2019. Past the bittboy and get the RG350.
Agreed. This is a big no-go for myself and anyone else who owns a RG350. I think this product is probably aimed at those folks that don't know that the RG350 exists and they don't mind over-hyped mediocrity in a handheld form factor. A little harsh, perhaps, but no more so than the bloody hype surrounding this late-to-the-show retro handheld.
If only the rg350 had an overclock function, agree rg350 is the best atm due to it’s build quality and controls
@@goodfodder Still lots of work being done in the CFW so we should see that sooner rather than later.
How is the pad with fighting games (neogeo/mame)
How did i miss this??
How's this compare to the pocketgo 2?
I know pg2 has a similar face layout, screen size, button layout, one slider analog. But pocketgo2 has 2 shoulder buttons.
Could you do a comparison?
I will
Thank you, I appreciate that.
Does this handheld support Bluetooth asking because Bluetooth is how most Pokemon roms I’ve seen trade
Nope
I have the 350..is it worth getting the 350H version?
It really depends on your demand. 350H has a better CPU but the case is not as good as 350.
I’m waiting for a handheld to come on the market that can play up to wii games, the one guy on RUclips is able to cram a wii and a screen into a portable device and i neeeed one
Is it possible to map the r2 and l2 buttons to the dpad in the ps1 emulator?
Probly not, often emulators can't map the keybindings right. So you can took r2 and put it on the start button but the result will be nothing even if you map it....
It will probably be a custom feature in the PSX4ALL on this console.
Is there much reason to get this over Pocket Go 2?
It comes down to specific PS1 games and FBA titles.
A better CPU has a better performance on some fba and PS games. So it depends on your demand.
Please try to convince the manufacture to put up blue transparent with all black keys/joystick. Or just sell the buttons/joystick on the side.
Wonder if you can add some l2 r2
You can
