    As I promised, the second part of the Gigastructural Engineering Showcase is here! This one covers the four crises from the mod, the Katzenartig Imperium, The Aeternum, The Blokkat Harvesters, and the Compound. I hope you guys enjoy it, and also let me know if you found any innacuracies, i'll correct them in this comment!
    12:09 Aeternite Intel can also be acquired by talking with the kaiser about the Aeternum
    12:30 Made an oopsie here, when I was writing the script, the military power was different. However, when I recorded that piece of footage months later it showed different results. Idk maybe the way military power is calculated has changed, either way their systems are well defended so make sure to prepare your fleets!
    13:17 Idk why but I couldn't tell the amount of zeroes in the footage lmao
    19:14 While the Blokkonstruct does not appear in the game, it's mentioned in the lore only so this is not a significant error. The actual size of this structure is 1 light year. It's volume however is way larger, since the Blokkats incorporate higher-dimensional enigneering, therefore it's way larger on the inside.
    30:04 Uhhh I forgot to extend the frame duration of required resources sorry for that
    30:51 Actually, there's an event that happens after the Final Harvest, however since Stellaris doesn't like modyfing the galaxy on such grand scale it crashes for some people.
    32:19 As the caption says, this amount varies based on difficulty. The lowest difficulty requires 200 ships, while the highest one needs 5K ships
    33:00 For some reasone I referred to the ship as "Eradicator" multiple times in the video. The Eradicator is the ship you get at the end of the Reality Code Event Chain, while the Annihilator is the one mentioned in the video.

    "Lust for power, desire for conquest, or obsession with technology. These goals are as fleeting as the species pursuing them. We have learned to disregard such baseless objectives and instead focus on the simplest and most universal requirement of all lifeforms: The accumulation of energy."

      @@MrCaster3200 Within Gigastructures Lore neither the Shroud nor Zero-Point Energy are infinite, they're just really, really large. The Blokkats harvest both of them in their entirety whenever they harvest a galaxy. Also, ACOT lore is *utterly* incompatible with Gigastructures lore due to vastly different cosmologies and overall setting rules, namely the fact that there is *no* truly infinite energy source whatsoever in Gigaslore whereas ACOT has plenty of that.

    • @ultraflopp2802
      @ultraflopp2802 7 месяцев назад +4

      @@Elowinywelp, the shroud is basically a realm of souls, isn’t it? So whilst there are souls there is shroud and there is energy! Therefore keeping shroud an infinite source of energy requires life forms, therefore to stop heat death of the universe you just need to effectively built a psi-conduit around every star and make *EVERY* specie psyonik
      P.s: oh, and most importantly, other astral planes, like, there are other universes, why don’t we gather them?

    • @Elowiny
      @Elowiny 7 месяцев назад

       @ultraflopp2802 Well, in my own interpretation (what is found in GIgaslore and the logic on which Blokkat lore relies), actually doing more than just probing and exploring the astral planes is usually prohibitively expensive and hazardous, to the point that it's *far* simply to just harvest the regular universe than to try messing with often unstable and fluctuation astral planes/rifts. Sure, you might get some energy out of them, but usually the rift either ends up closing eventually, collapsing because you drew too much energy, or causing a catastrophic outburst of uncontrolled energy that destroys the civilization trying to harvest it.
      Regarding the Shroud stuff, I recommend you check out the Cosmology page on the Gigaslore wiki (look up "Gigastructural Engineering Lore Database"), it contains essentially everything there is to know about Gigastructures' interpretation of Stellaris cosmology

      @@Elowinyeh the stellarborn have extra lines with the blockkats so its not that the are complratly incompatible, its jsut that the blockkats are to weak and underdeveloped to use the infinit power of the omegans

    • @Elowiny
      @Elowiny 6 месяцев назад +3

      @@theonesithtorulethemall The extra lines are meant as fun references and compatibility, they are not meant to be taken at face value.
      And no, the Blokkats aren't "too weak" or "too underdeveloped" to use the "infinite power of the omegans", it's that their setting literally doesn't have such things as "the infinite powers of the omegans" (or *any* "infinite power" whatsoever), the worldbuildings are *fundamentally* incompatible. They can't ever rise to such a power level because it's quite literally not possible for them, or anyone else, to do so.
      And even IF we DO take the interactions that you mention at face value, the Stellarborne quite literally say that they want to "test" the Blokkats to see if they're actually worthy of using said power. So like... yeah, your argument just doesn't really make sense at all, no matter which way you look at it.

      The issue with gigastructures and ACOT is that by 2350 you are already at like 100k alloys a month with well over 10k naval capacity worth of fleets (given you have the mode to increase max from 9999). By the time you get to the block cats you either destroy them or end up measuring gameplay in minutes per month.

    You missed a couple crisis that Gigas adds that are more 'hidden.'.
    1. If the Kaiser isn't set to spawn, a Ketzan fallen empire can spawn instead. They act like a normal fallen empire but are a wee bit stronger. This eventually leads to a War in Heaven.
    2. If the kaiser isn't set to spawn and Bogged Down Researchers are enabled, the Ketzan FE will spawn, and be lead by Pouchkinn , who will start a crisis sometime during mid or early lategame where he is going to "find the secrets of the universe", and the FE becomes a crisis empire you have to wipe out before they destroy the galaxy. These aren't as involved, but they are additional crisis gigas has. They act like any empire making the Entrophic Engine, but they make their own version which is much, much more powerful and builds faster.
    Additionally Blokkats spawn 100 years after endgame OR 20 years after an endgame crisis/aeternum has been defeated and endgame era has started. That latter part can through you for a loop since if your on higher blokkat difficulties, you'll often curvestomp the crisis and the blokkats will then curvestomp you if you aren't aware of it.

    • @michael_stellaris
      @michael_stellaris  7 месяцев назад +3

      The Blokkats have various spawn dates you can configure, I mentioned the earliest, and latest one for convenience

    In my 36 playthroughs of Gigastructural Engineering, I have never once triggered the compound. They tend to become irrelevant pretty quickly if you run with ACOT.

      I think the Compound is typically disabled by default, I've never seen them. I know they are supposed to be very broken, and the devs are planning to eventually fix them and make them an actual crisis

      @michael_stellaris yeah, before this video I had no idea what they were supposed to be. I'm glad they're connected to the EHOF/Cohesive cluster/sentient metal/neg mass stuff, because the archeology sites and lore for all that was cool but for me ends up getting ignored in favor of ACOT techs later in the game. To have an enemy directly connected to that stuff with another unique way to defeat them would be super cool

      The video was published before the Sirenalia crisis was implemented. Initially I wanted to make a video covering it, and other changes made to gigas after my "comeback" (I assumed Gigastructural Engineering would be updated by that time), however 3.12 is a massive update, and many mods aren't up to date, so I did the Mods to Improve Warfare vid instead. It wouldn't make sense to do an updated video on gigas now, as there's an update underway, meaning more changes to include, and as I said the mod is not compatible with 3.12
      Right now I'm thinking about doing a mod showcase, idk which mod i'm gonna choose yet, but i'll let y'all now eventually. Don't worry, I'm still gonna do the gigas update, a whole new crisis is too big of a feature to skip over.

    Any intention to cover the Warship Girls R mod or Voyage to Eternity? Or the Azur Lane mod?

    I dont remember the Katzan looking like that... regardless. While I like their mechanics a ton, and the fact they are crisis worthy, what I dont like is how they seemingly just mold every single empire into themselves without even really trying or sometimes without doing anything. So in a year or two they already own half the galaxy... thats a bit much for a midgame crisis. I'd enjoy them more if they weren't so absolutely busted and broken in the galactic scale of things. The fact they have an attack moon already makes them scary to fight against... I dont need them surrounding me because every AI empire just agrees to be absorbed.

      Out of curiosity, which difficulty are you using?

    • @coled555
      @coled555 6 месяцев назад

      I never seem to have much issue with the Katzen. I have ACOT along with Gigastructures, and if I am doing okay for the beginning of the game I tend to have stronger fleets than the Imperium by the time they declare war on me. I don't seem to struggle defeating them, which is a bit of a shame because there are so many mechanics implemented to deal with them that I never need to explore.

    It is kind of a shame the Compound aren't as interesting as the Kaiser, Aeternum, and Blokkats are. They seemed like they had alot more potential.
    How would the Gigastructural Engineering crisis factions fair against nations as powerful as the Forerunners, the Culture, and the Interim Coalition of Governance?
    The Forerunners would be perhaps the most interesting due to how relative and adaptive they are with knowledge and warfare. Especially with things like the Domain. Even though they haven't built anything exactly like a Birch world before with the exception of one shield world.

    Is this mod intended to be played with other overpowered shit bc I see no way to deal with something that has fleet power in the literal millions in normal gameplay

    • @michael_stellaris
      @michael_stellaris  5 месяцев назад

      There are various difficulties which have an impact on the overall strength of the crises. Some are more challenging, and are meant for playthroughs with overpowered mods, while some of them are meant to be played with gigas only.
      Second, the mod gives you tools to fight them, such as Attack Moons, Planetcrafts and Systemcrafts plus various megastructures to boost your empire. If you want information about them, check the first part of the gigastructural engineering showcase.

      Crisis is a singular noun, crises is plural. The video talks about not one crisis from Gigastructural Engineering, but four of them, therefore it contains everything about CRISES from Gigastructural Engineering. You can check the Oxford, or Cambridge dictionaries if you don't believe me.
