Special thanks to Leastfire for highlighting the power of this origin! Игры
heyyy! super fun video😁thank youuu for mentioning me, it's niceee!♥galactic doorstep has been one of my favourites origins since a long time, I used it to establish early transport network in 1000 stars galaxy, when I played single player😉(multiplayer with 1000 stars would be crazy haha:P) it was super fun to play in yesterday's game using this ship! aaaaand I actually learned something new from this video.. combination with anglers could be more powerful than what I did myself! :)

Thank you for showing everyone something super cool and using your game knowledge to win another tournament o7
Catalytic Processing and Farmers, and now Galactic Doorstep. Are you doing ok? Do you need a brain slug wellness check?

Fun fact: Since the ship has a jump drive, you can use it to take over the Habinte unified worlds in the dacha system in that whole event chain and get like 300 pops on multiple gaia worlds for free. Usually they block the hyperlanes off as soon as you attack them but this and the scion ships can bypass that.

I love this "click by click" guide.
You are DEFINITLY playing a completly different Stellaris like I do.
My gameplay and yours look in comparision like a toddler playing football and Messi playing football.
Well well well, what do we have here?
Didn't I bring up in your origins tier list video about how you underrated Doorstep? Hmmmm?
I was not aware, at that point, that this was possible. I thought the chance was still low, which it is for regular empires. 90% is almost guaranteed
Other than the admiral, the rest of the origin is pretty crap though...
Also, I've checked all the comments on that video. No one (and I mean no one) even got close to mentioning Skrand as a viable strategy for Galactic Doorstep.
That's probably partly due to the fact the chance was 20% not 90%, so it was much less viable. But still, without skrand it's solid C Tier (F tier in my estimation due to personal prejudice though, as mentioned in that video)
@@MontuPlays when was there a change to his spawn rate? is it tied to the origin?

Something I would like to attempt at some point in the future involves this origin and the Dark Matter Consortium civic. See, there's an agenda that unlocks for that civic as soon as you unlock your first T5 tech (the Gateway Construction being the main goal of the empire) which flat out GIVES you Dark Matter components for your ships. These are power source (whatever), shields (great until you get psi shields), and thrusters which are incredibly strong (at about 5x the speed of normal thrusters). I'd be interested in your thoughts on this idea.
Love these in depth guides!
I never thought I would ever see you do a video on Galactic Doorstep. Did Skrand bribe you to make this video?
Let's just say he made me an offer I couldn't refuse ...
Loving these guides! Keep it up!
Glad you're enjoying them!
Inspired by the recent tournament. It was great, waited for the next one
I think there is some really underrated potential with the under one rule origin. Under one Rule with distinguished admiralty and a commander as your starting leader means that your ruler will start at level 6 and can start with a trait that gives +30% mineral and +15% alloy/CG output. The problem I have is consumer goods. I can't seem to get a good enough stockpile in order to flip production by 2220.
On a side note, I also seem to be struggling with unity with this build.
Add on vaults and you can start on level 7
Also, have you swapped to civilian focused economy for the first 15-20 years or so?
@@MontuPlays Yes, I swap to civilian economy at the start and dedicate the larger of my 2 starting colonies to consumer goods, the other to tech/unity. By around 2220 I've only got around 3.5k CG stored, but if I swap production to alloys my CG drains too fast for me to build up a large stockpile of alloys.
As for Vaults of knowledge, I've been running philosopher king for +5 effective ruler level.
@@bretthuff8971I do a really stupid thing with Under One Rule new tech update. If you take xenophile, you can get Brain Poacher, which gives you +18 research of each kind with a migration treaty. I settle every planet I find, even the 0% ones, and make a vassal from each system. Then, I sign a migration treaty with each vassal and watch the science roll in. If you abuse immigration pull, you can get some pretty insane levels of pop growth on your core worlds. If you use this with trade, you can tax your own commercial pacts and get some wild energy credit income, all while having low sprawl.
This Admiral Thrawn build is very intersting. Thanks for the video.
I love these videos I am really enjoying Stellaris when I know what to do.

I played my second game a few days ago. It was my first time creating a custom empire. Was looking through the origins and species, trying to come up with a theme/story. I settled on galactic doorstep with Avian species. The idea being that these creatures from their earliest beginnings have always soared through the skies, and now wanted to be the fastest travelers in the galaxy. So I geared the towards physics/propulsion specialties. With their dream being to reactivate the gate way and travel the cosmos. The shear shock when I saw the conclusion was a legendary Avian commander, I couldn’t believe just how perfect that worked out. Sadly a patch the next day corrupted my save, and I never got to use him :(
First farming now this the universe has truly turned upside down
A solid design philosophy. Nerf everything until farming is good then nerf farming.
Oh man, this is awesome! Praise Skrand Sharpbeak!
WTF MAN?! HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW?!
Looks like an awesome build to try, it does highlight that the absurd 10 year truce in this game needs to change imo. Like what's stopping empires from ignoring a treaty dishonorably for a suprise attack? An invisible wall of 10 years apparently, they should replace the 10 year truce with an honor system instead so rather then waiting 10 years you just gain dishonor which makes getting new treaties very difficult.
This build crossed my mind when I saw the Skrand spawn condition, but I figured it would be far too unlikely to be any good. Never would have thought that there would be a random massive odds multiplier for having the origin. I'll definitely try this out sometime soon!
Thank you, unfixably broken leaders and paragons!
Gateway construction is a t5 tech. This means that with the Dark Consortium civic you can go right into Dark Matter tech right after completing gateway research. I had dark matter thrusters by year 38 in my test play of this. Being able to sell your early dark matter also helps meet the gateway activation costs.
They should add a new legendary paragon from Skrand’s species who will only come out if Skrand gets out. maybe a rival, maybe a respected colleague but that should act as a potential counter to this early game power spike. Maybe instead of it just being an admiral for final flight 2 electric boogaloo, it could be a scientist who can allow you to add those powerful strike craft to to your own hangar bays. Or maybe because it’s a member of skrand’s species, there could be a storyline which causes skrand to not participate in a war with the empire who found them. If galactic doorstep is now amongst the broken origins, it just goes to show how many interesting options there are out there to make the galaxy feel alive.
Galactic doorstop being the strongest origin is something that I would have never expected
Ive got to know the dlc youre running with, I am seeing so much I havent before lol
I’d like an Every Click Guide to the UNE
its great with the dark matter research civic too. You get the breakthroughs early
I just started watching the beginning and had to stop to check if it was April 1st already.

Would be cool if you had some kind of website for your tier lists that you update each patch. So people always can go look at what's best/worst in the current patch. Would be more feasible than making new tier list videos on everything each patch. On mayor changes you can still make new tier list videos as you do currently. :)
I literally got this exact event as a Prosperous Unification build when I unlocked gateways. Already had a titan lol.
the times are changing
If one wants to play less meta civics the Dark Consortium civic can be used. The Gateway construction tech is a tier 5 tech and unlocks the dark matter breakthrough agenda. It allows unlocking dark matter components early in the game without fighting a fallen empire.
Just after i saw your video i tried it. It diddn't went the way it should but at the end it worked. The ship didn't appeard BUT i had antother portal near by, and on this one it worked. XD (sorry for my terrible english)
I used to do galactic doorstep because I was a free player and now I bought everything just to hear it's op
Oh montu
So basically the Shanshyum with a Keyship! Cool.
This is interesting! Maybe a "United Nations of Earth, Every Click Guide"?
1:00 It may be the best origin now, but it still gets called the “galactic doorstop.”
There are features in this video that I dont see in my game - it would be VERY helpful to know what expansions are needed, e g for the leader tricks you do.
galactic paragons, and the base game, are all that you 'need' here. Some of the civics & traits I picked are locked behind DLC too but they are not needed, only galactic paragons for the admiral!
What are your thoughts on the Dark Consortium civic? I think it's become one of my favourites, i love actually having a use for dark matter
I'm so happy montu has kept on calling it galactic doorstop
I tried this build in 3.10, but with Skrand Sharpbeak only having a 20% chance to spawn if you're the first person to activate a gateway, it didn't pan out. I'm glad it worked out for you though!
I think they change the weightings in the latest update! It's now 90% with doorstop
That's fantastic! Thanks!@@MontuPlays
Yep. This probably beats Scion.
Well it's a much, much higher chance, and honestly more powerful than the equivalent fleet the fallen empire might gift to you!
My dude is pulling an ancient Hiigaran and making a mothership with a far-jump hyperspace core to subjugate their enemies.
Whatever you do, I wouldn’t recommend trying to use this doorstop origin strategy with gestalt machine empires since they can’t recruit paragon leaders. You end up fighting Sharpbeak and his ship unless you ignore him, which goes poorly unless you somehow manage to be more powerful than him when the time comes to not recruit him.
You have my attention....
I play this on console (playstation) and 1 game i had to surrender to AI and eventually become their bulwark vassal and i actually managed to make an vassal agreement deal to complete drain (they allowed me to ask to them to give me max amount %) my overlord basic materials, this ofc lead me to become so powerful compared to them but they still did not want me to request my intepentendy so i had to ofc just do it via War what i ofc won even they had in federation with 2 other empires but they was war in Fallen Empire and some other empires.
Fair warning, it's not working anymore since 3.12, now you get 1/3 chance instead of 9/10 :(
RP starts deserve love too. Make them strpng enough im not embarrassed to use in multiplayer
I always knew this was a pretty good origin
It wasn't and now isnt again
I didn't know it was possible for Skrand to spawn with the Galactic Doorstep origin. That's... actually kind of hilarious. Considering that Galactic Doorstep is usually completely dogshit, it'd be an awesome buff if they made it a guaranteed spawn and tied Skrand's story to the Black Crown specifically.
at 90% it's almost a guarantee...
I have all the dlc content but I don't see the first research anomaly needed to begin the quest line
Few technic things, the update is 3.11?
Are you able to get the tech from that ship somehow? really interested in that more than anything.
thanks for the idea! never thought of this.
You can learn them, wiki explains how: stellaris.paradoxwikis.com/Paragons#Skrand_Sharpbeak
Someone send a photo of that build to Montu of a year ago and watch the reaction.
12:30 Since when were those combat animations in the game, was it a mod or just something special compared to the standard move in a circle animatuon?
@MontuPlays Is this possible on the PS5 Console Edition? Do I need any particular DLC's installed? 🤔 I've followed this video twice but have been unsuccessful, maybe it's just not possible for me to achieve on a PS5 yet.
April first already? Have I been in a coma for 2 weeks?
No, this seems real...
Its gotta be because skrand right, like that to be it
Hey montu, how do I get the tech for hangar IV?
just a reminder if you go fanatic xenophobe you do not have the option of repairing the ship
Does Skrand not have a higher chance of proccing for Militarists with a Gateway? I think he did at least in previous builds of the game?
Does not seem to work with Driven Assimilator. I tried a few times and saved scummed (unless the save points weren't early enough). Did anyone have any success with DA? Did have success with fleshy humanoids. Very cool playthrough. Must be Skrand is not open to being one of us.
Before watching i thought its going to be some Toxic God + Skrand shenanigans, i was close.
I had this ship appear from a normal gateway, without taking the Doorstep origin. Only difference is it wasnt until about 30 years in, as opposed to just 20
ALTHOUGH, i was playing a determined exterminator, and didn't even know that there was an associated leader with the ship! very cool
my vassals keep having internal rebellions when I control them and I don't know how to get involved or stop it from happening but it costs me some of their taxes and makes awful border gore.
My prospectorium recently had such rebellion when I tried to play tall, needless to say my ecomony kinda collapsed after that
Okay, I see the idea. I expect next patch to make it impossible for Skrand Sharpbeak to spawn until a certain date in the game. Easy fix.
The fix is just to not have two multiplicative stacking modifiers effect the spawn rate, a 4x or a 10x wouldn't be a problem, but a 40x is :)
between this and farmer builds i think the end times are coming and reality is coming undone. give it another update and clerks will be meta
also always enjoy to see another one of your videos
can you use dark consortium/shadow corp with this build? I thought dark consortium/shadow corp gave you dark matter techs with an agenda at level 5 technologies. If gateway activation is level 5 can you also get dark matter techs with dark consortium/shadow corp?
activation is level 4, construction is level 5
I have very strange bug - please let me know if you also had one
I had an event that told me that I received the Gateway activation tech - but it never actually appeared!
I'm 10min in the video and I'm still not sure if this is supposed to be serious or not.
speaking of admiral's traits: did paradox fix bug with engineer trait? in 3.8-3.9 it was terribly bugged - it was 10 or 100 times less effective, to the point where you need few years to repair fleet with it
I don't think so actually!
This strategy was nerfed from 91% chance of getting Skrand to 33%.
Damn Im lucky then I got him 3 saves in a row lol
Honestly didn't know it was 90% chance with that origin. 😮
I'm fairly certain they changed it when they updated the origin in patch 3.11 (so a couple of weeks ago)
Can a Dragon in the home system defend that ship? If you take the dragon origin
A reanimated dragon with extra bonuses, probably. But the normal dragon, not really...
You can also get skrand much earlier (5+ years) before someone can reanimate their dragon, so it does trump the reanimation strategy
@@MontuPlays
How is that ship only 20k fleet power?! XD
I only pray RNGJesus and Lord Gaben.
Does it work without the paragons dlc
First farmers are good.
Next Doorstop is OP.
What will be next, transport ship rush new meta?
Hi I've been trying this build twice so far I can't seem to get gateway activation tech fully. I only get like 40% of it need to research it for 15+ years wich is way longer than your tries. Is this part of the RNG?
Oh no, if you end up acquiring Frigates, for example, you can take out the Leviathans like 30-40 years into the game, and potentially even reform your government into Reanimators, using those Leviathans for some supreme shenanigans.😱
I hope you know but started this origin on my console save. AND I GET THE EITHER DRAKE LESS THAN 5 JUMPS FROM MY HOME SYSTEM plus the ancient mining drone hq near as well. Like wtf?
Can you galactic doorstop spreading Misinformation?
Misinformation? Where?
Can you speak something else than broken english?
One thing I don't quite understand is "Launching agendas using Unity."
What determines its cost? It seems to start at a whopping 20k Unity (at less than 100 Empire Size I assume) and then gets almost exponentially cheaper.
The wiki states, "Agendas can be launched by paying Unity equal to the amount of progress left. " But this seems obviously untrue, unless I'm misunderstanding something.
The cost of rushing falls off exponentially as you get closer to finishing the agenda. At about 50-60% it starts decreasing linearly though. At least below 100 empire size.
Don't know the exact numbers on it though. Could figure it out 🤔
Next guide: Unlimited power autocannon.
Which DLCs do you need for this to work?
Galactic Paragons, I think that's it really
So I tried this with a Gestalt Empire and didn't get the option to help repair the ship. Which left me with an enemy ship 100x more powerful than my navy in my home system.
You cannot recruit Skrand if you are a Gestalt or Fanatic Xenophobic empire
Well after ignoring this tactic since paragons released you managed to shine a light on it and murder it in next patch most likely :D.
It is buffed now so it is way stronger. You were bad mouthing this origin for a while And because of this video the Last Talon shall fall into oblivion alongside Grand Herald or prob less likely will there ve nerf to the origin.
I think they mega buffed it in the latest patch, in 3.9/3.10 galactic doorstop only had a 20% chance of getting the ship, now it's 90% which is wild!
The rest of the origin is still... Not great
Anyone going to tell Montu that he posted his April fools video 12 days early
Hmm galactic doorstep is playable with hives?
This origin + zombie civic and you basicly dont need build fleet like till mid game
WARNING! 2:45 If you are doing any of the agressive civics, like driven assimilator, the event will fail! you are forced to go hostile on the ship.
How do you get the tributary war goal? Back in the days you could demand subjugation and if they decline you got it, but how does it work now?!
IIRC, they have to be inferior power to you, but some empire types cant take vassals, and some can only do so under certain circumstances
@@SalvLav I made some tests, it seems to be related to power (as you said). Circumstances could be "being already a vassal" etc.
Very interesting. I barely played for a while because of too much stuff to do in rl, thats why i missed this change.
So it kinda has similar gimmick to payback, but without drawbacks like being behind everyone in terms of development,
