  • Going Camping in a small convertible (1990 Mazda Miata) did not seem like a good idea, and many people told me not to do it. But you have to do what you want, and we decided to go camping in a 30 year old convertible with very limited space.

    I have driven my 97 Miata from Chicago to Detroit Several times now on work trips people tell me I'm crazy but its fun I also stay off the interstates when ever possible. I have also taken it to Starved Rock State Park in Illinois and have packed it with 2 chairs a cooler picnic blanket and a small grill

      Sounds sick! Definitely not gonna be harder with two people though haha

    I always wondered how viable LIVING out of a Miata would be. Definitely a fun car with great potential, love mine for this exact reason!
    I've found that the space surprises lots of people with how much you can fit in the boot.
    I was also really excited to see another Alberta licence plate, it's not often you find a video so close to home! Do you have any plans for the Miata to do more of this? It was a lot of fun to watch and this would make a really fun continuing series!
    Additional note: if you put the top up you can use the parcel tray behind the seats for even more free storage, it works wonders (especially if you buy take-out!) And make sure to clean out your drain plugs after taking it in those dirt roads, I'd be real scared to take mine on some of our backroads but more power to you! Keep up the awesome work!

    I must say that I really enjoyed watching this video and I am surprised you haven't got that many subscribers! The editing in this video is nice and not overdone.
    Even though I am not really into camping, I have thought about this type of question before, but more in the form of "What if I go on a long trip with a friend to like England or something, will our luggage fit in the miata's boot?".
    I am myself considering getting something like an MX-5, RX-8 or Alfa Romeo GTV, all three not really ideal for long trips, although I have heard that the seats are quite comfortable in the RX-8 and the GTV, but this video shows that you can make it work! Good job!

      Thank you so much, all three cars you mentioned definitely aren't GT cars by any means. But if it's not for super long haul trips, they will be interesting cars to drive on an adventure. Let me know how it goes!

    Awesome! I was wondering if I should just take a roadster camping instead of springing for a wrangler. You answered my question! Okay, here's a little tip in case you want to reduce the amount of stuff that is behind the seats... look up backpack camping. There are tons of gear for 2-person camping that will fit in 2 30-liter backpacks...

    I just bought an NA Miata and I’m thinking about taking it a few hours to the beach for a week. It seems like maybe the trick to packing a Miata is to use garbage bags instead of hard cases so you can kinda squish them and squeeze them into all the space in the trunk.
    Aaaaand maybe taking out the spare tire and taking a chance. Either way it’s definitely a tight fit!!

    • @530drive6
      @530drive6  4 года назад +3

      Yeah the spare tire actually takes up a lot of space in the miata, so taking that out + using soft bags would allow you to fit more in

    Heard that the petrol tank for this model is pretty small. Is that right?

    • @530drive6
      @530drive6  4 года назад +1

      It's a great first car, easy to maintain and drive. Well depends on where you're located but I am sure it wouldn't be too hard to find

      @@530drive6 hello bro. I wanted to know that for how much canadian dollars, i can get a miata na in canada? And for how much a miata nb in canada. Both as in good condition

    • @530drive6
      @530drive6  3 года назад +1

      @@Knockthefout NA should be anywhere between $3000-6000, and NB should be about the same actually, maybe a $1000 more 👍

      @@530drive6 thanks a lot bro. I will move to canada in near future. About 4 yrs. So what's ur advice for miata na or nb? I want one for daily as well as drifting and i also wanna have low maintenance and low insurance and low repair costs. Plz share ur advice on which one should i buy. Thanks a lot. Have a great day ahead buddy.

    • @530drive6
      @530drive6  3 года назад +1

      @@Knockthefout NA and NB are nearly the same car, so everything (insurance, maintenance, etc) are also going to be nearly the same. If you get a miata I would also get a second car though, because although miatas can be driven in the Canadian winter it'll be hard on you and the car

    캠핑 가능할지 여부 때문에 심각히 고민중인데 잘 봤습니다. nd2는 트렁크가 더 작은것 같습니다

      네 가능은 합니다. 편함과는 아주 멀지만, 특이한경험이라 한번은 해볼만합니다. ND는 그래도 신형이라 더 편리할것같네요 😁
