Absolutely brilliant! Loved these when I was a kid too. These characters were among the best they ever did too. His goofy posture, the goofy looks when he's being sarcastic, the ridiculous accent. Her with the blank stare, the gum chewing, that walk in the hobble skirt, the whole thing is a riot!! ~JSV
When I was a kid my whole family watched this every time it was on - my mom, dad, and brother and sister - we all loved it and laughed so hard! What talent across the board on this show! Carol was a comedic genius, one of the greatest ever!
Rock Hudson drove his station wagon risking his life to get his maid out of Watts during the August 1965 riots. He would have turned 91 on November 17th. but now he's with God and his angels. Miss 'ya Rock! ♡ P.S. I love the character he played, "Rex Stetson", in "Pillow Talk" (1959).
TC cracked me up every time he said ' Missisa Whiggins '. Oh did I love him on this show and others, even solo. Just his hurt puppy dog ambiguity and look made me split my sides laughing uncontrollably. Great stuff!
Rock's given name was Roy Harold Scherer Jr. He was a successful leading man even though he was gay and died of aids at the age of 59. He managed to keep his sexual orientation secret.
EVERYBODY in Hollywood - including Carol - knew Rock was gay but because he was such a great guy and well liked that they kept his secret. Can you imagine that? Too bad Rock didn't live long enough to see the positive changing attitude of America to homosexuality.
First of all, of course, Rock was gay before he was an actor! READ a book and do RESEARCH before you make a statement of fact. He stood outside Fox studios until he was discovered (by a male exec) . And imo, it is a positive change that America in general is becoming more accepting of different lifestyles. Again you need to READ a book (or even travel) and learn that gays have been around since the beginning of time and contributed immensely 2 the culture of the world. (look up the word culture)
I wouldn't have guessed he was gay. Shame he had to hide that back then or it could've destroyed his career. Even though he was handsome and a good actor.
British comedy is still my favorite stuff, especially if you have desirable company. Almost everyone I know either understands it enough to appreciate its uniqueness. Others just go along for the ride and pretend to understand and appreciate it, just so they're accepted. A good example in my estimation is keeping up appearances with good old Hyacinth Bucket (pronounced Bouquet) you blithering dolt. Yes, as in Hyacinth Bouquet she'll have us know! Hahaha!Carol Burnett on the other hand is more universal and I can't say enough about Tim Conway and the rest.
I mean to say this hilariously but, why does Mrs. Wiggins have a lunch 🥗 date with a guy other than her husband?; Remember Mrs. means that she’s already spoken for.
Crazy how a wig and an outfit can change your entire persona. Carol is a genius. Love these skits.

OK it dawned on me that Rock Hudson (kinda odd name if you think about it) was the male player in this skit. Just a great piece from the show!

flenif2247 You’re right! Also apply to Raymond Burr (Perry Mason).
Carol you got the Moves
Dating other men while you don't see your husband for a couple weeks - hollyweird was in full swing even then.
