About The Carol Burnett Show
While there’s no truth to the rumor that “CBS” ever stood for The Carol Burnett Show, for eleven seasons and 278 episodes, this star-studded extravaganza of sketch comedy, song and dance became entertainment central for the network and TV viewers. Burnett operated in a relaxed theater setting that allowed her to take questions, cut loose with her famous Tarzan yell and join fellow performers Harvey Korman, Tim Conway, Vicki Lawrence and Lyle Waggoner to have a laugh or sing a song. The show received 25 Emmy Awards and eight Golden Globes, making it one of the most honored shows in television history.

This should be as well known as the "Gone with the Wind" sketch. Absolutely hilarious. 😂 Well done. 👏👏👏
I loved this so much. Seeing it in 2023, 50+ years after the original movie (1970) evoked so many memories! Carol & Harvey were splendid together. 😂
"4 minute egg is cutting it Close" These guys and writers were the best.
Harvey's wig...ha, ha,. Priceles comedy!
Yeah. The wig is great!!!!
I was at the taping of this show!
One of my favorite take-offs! The best part is when Carol coughs at 9:13!
Mimi !
The Greatest of Comedy shows.
I love Harvey Korman when he's not just being Tim's straight man.
BOY DID I EVER NEED A GOOD LAUGH TODAY!! GOD BLESS YOU PRECIOUS CAROL AND FRIENDS! 😂😘💖
“I’d love a 4 minute egg.” 😂
What a laugh!! I loved their wigs! !
agreed, and her glases!
"Which one of you is Oliver?" Top class comedy writing!
Twenty thousand....sometimes, I forget how far back this goes. But it’s still hilarious.
Wow! I liked this video already within the first 30 seconds thanks to the brilliant Vicky Lawrence! ❤︎
Excellent skit!! The Carol Burnett Show was simply the best!!! Thank you Carol for all the warm memories ☺
It still is. It's on MeTV every night
@@erinrooney6696"Carol Burnett and friends" on Me-TV at 11:00 p.m. on most most Me-TV stations right before Perry Mason 11:30 p.m. and right after an hour of Hogan's Heroes at 10 p.m.
Jeffrey Pardue it's on at 11pm in my area. I never miss it. I also have it on Roku TV.

I just adore Harvey Korman❤
The very best of the best! Have seen this many times and still laugh !
The cough makes the entire sketch. She NAILED that so well!
I knew a couple this goopy when we were all young newlyweds.
Carol and Harvey were a great comedy team.
Hilarious! “...Love means never having to say I love you!” I didn’t see that one coming and when it hit me I laughed out loud!
I heard it said that Alice Macgraw thought that line was ridiculous! That she said of course you've got to say I love you to each other!
Love that they included it though!
@@JaneDoe-ci3gj Ali MacGraw.
"STOP! STOP! I CAN'T STAND IT!"
"You can't stand the truth?"
"What truth?! I can't stand all this music!"
Carol is so EXTREMELY talented. I loved her in all of the many characters that she played. She was ALWAYS so very entertaining, so very hilariously funny! I miss her and her fantastic show!!😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
She’s not dead…just old….lol😂
Haven't seen this in years...
Pure gold 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This show is brilliantly written. Love it.
One of the shows best parodies 😂
Lovely story.
It tries to be a tear jerker, and it is.
I cried laughing!
Love how they work together!!
Omg, I was laughing up until she died...then the shoes! Omg, I lost it! Lolololol.
Love means never having to say you're sorry. Who can forget that?
Very talented people. Loved this show.
This was very laugh out loud a million times funny! I needed that
Don’t over act !!! 😆😆😆😆.....brilliant

You have no idea how long I've been wanting this sketch to be uploaded!!
I am an Austrian guy of nearly 58 from vienna, and you don't know how tearsjerking funny it is, to brush up your english with all this outstanding and brilliant caroll burnet episodes. I discovered all these adorable cbshows during the first lockdown in april 2020 and i won't miss them all...
@@rashaddarwisch8860 that's awesome, dude! I hope you're staying safe! Much love!
@@Luna-ps4yx thanks so much for your answer.staying save?? Well, that's the problem, still following a mass of podcasts and channels on the net, a lot of international independent experts in medicine and advocates found out that something is going wrong. They say that mainstream news about the pandemy are incorrect. Othersides a lot of independ journalists are under intense pressure. Lawers also say, that fundamental human rights will be canncelled during this pandemy in Europe, which is no pandemy. A warm hug to you, Luna!
@@rashaddarwisch8860 that DOES suck. I hug you back!
Same here. It's one of the best! The strange thing is, I don't know how I missed it as I swear I searched for it in the last 7 months. Then again, time is moving fast it seems.
I remember watching this episode with my family, still a riot!
Oh, thank you so much. Such a great skit, greatly needed on a depressing day. Really--I thank you!
Ahah I love this 😅 carol was a geeky looking Cher..... carol and Harvey were way to comfy kissing each other 😅😅😅
Hey, it was the 70's
And there was nothing there but good acting.
Doctor, what can I do?
First of all, don't overact. Lol
THIS IS HILARIOUS! BRILLIANT!😂😂😂
I remember watching this sketch when it first aired, and it was one of the first times that I laughed so hard I actually teared-up (the first time I experienced "I laughed so hard that I cried!") Brilliant parody, writing and acting.
With the glasses Carol looks like Nana Mouskouri lol
Suddenly I’m in high school again!
I can always find a laugh. Thanks
I would love for Carol to do a show now that she put all the work into like this show from then. Like I would love to see her version of Forrest Gump, or the new action flicks like Mission Impossible, Charlie's Angels & more!!
Can't do those without Harvey, Tim & Lyle. Tim would've made a funny ass Forest lol
They did a spoof of the Mission Impossible T.V. Show.
Very very well played
Agree!!!
How nice to see that there are many who didn't think Love Story was a great movie. It was a totally irritating kind of thing. O well, life goes on. This is quite witty.
I watched it several years ago with my wife. We both thought it was stupid. The theme song is beautiful the way Andy Williams sings it though
They only spoofed movies that they liked.
Я очень рада что много людей не любят этот фильм. Его слишком перехвалили и он скучен
Pure genious!
Carol looks good as a brunette.
As long as the wig stays on. ;-)
Talentosa!!!
"Love means never having to say you're sorry."
"That's the dumbest thing I ever heard"
(Famous lines from an old movie)
Vicki looks like she's wearing a nightgown. LOL
Second only to Went With The Wind parody. Carol & company knew how to skewer the classics. This was hilarious.
Boy oh boy! I really laughed my socks off. I've been waiting for the upload of this hilarious skit for agessss!🤣🤣🤣
The damned thing is, Harvey's and Carol's dialogue in that opening scene isn't one bit more sappy or ridiculous than that in the actual book and film. The most enduring mystery about "Love Story" is how Erich Segal -- a professor of classical literature, who translated the works of Plautus -- could have written it.
Plato...unless a duck-billed platypus can write now
I loved it growing up!
@@lenawagenfuehr53 No, I DID mean Plautus -- the comic Roman playwright who died in 184 BC. The Stephen Sondheim musical "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum" was derived in large part from the works of Plautus.
And yet this was a PHENOM !! This was HUGE. Sappy or not, it touched a nerve with young baby boomers.
I have been looking for this sketch on RUclips for years! Thank you so much for posting it!
*Spoiler*
Love this skit!🤣👍
I watched Love Story when I was growing up and loved it.
I cried so much at the end of that film!
Love carol burnett
So talented
Now this was funny without any vulgar or over sexual contexts.
Love Story hasn’t stood the rest of time but CB has.
Nadie como ella!!!
To think that there was a few years in m which this, "Mary Tyler Moore," "Bob Newhart," "All in the Family," "M*A*S*H," and the first five seasons of "The Walton's" were all being broadcast over the course of the same week - and on the same network.
God bless the 70's . Everything great stems from this decade. Especially entertainment. I love my decade.
My childhood.
I like the skit better than the movie.
We have this movie to thank for the fact that there were too many baby girls named Jennifer that were born in the early 70s. Way, way too many Jennifers. This was so popular and Ali McGraw's character made so many young women swoony enough to name their daughters after her. I know, I have a sister born in 1973 who is named Jennifer because our mother just adored Love Story. Of course Mom outgrew it and came to think this movie was cringy. My sister has always been miffed that the name was so over-used - she has about a dozen friends named Jennifer and always meets Jennifers around her age. Kinda the same thing happened in the 90s with too many baby girls named Rachel. Don't name your kids after movie and TV characters.
The big name in the late 80s and early 90s was Darryl because of Darryl Hannah's huge popularity at the time. I'm guessing Hannah was popular too, but don't know.
I think Jenny was popular in the mid-late 60s as well.
And what was the name of the actress who played Rachel?
Jennifer!
@@inkyguy not true. I never meet anyone named Daryl and i lived in NYC all my life and there are millions of ppl in NYC, still not one Daryl. I travelled all over and still never met anyone named Daryl. Just because u want it to be true, doesn’t make it true. Daryl Hannah was never that famous. Nobody named their kid after her. Only in your head.
It wasn't just from that film that so many baby girls in that period were named Jennifer. In some cases it was also naming after Jennifer O'Neill, the co-star of the big hit "Summer of '42."
Never seen "Love Story" - not sure if this makes me wanna see it, or not...lol
Lovely store
Buen show!!!
I'm lovin 'it 💜💜
So much better than the cheesy original!
I gave like before watching :D
There were episodes when Lyle Wagoner was the best...the funniest. He was not appreciated in his time.
Lyle would have been a better choice than Harvey for this.
Ok i find Carol extremely cute and i've never wanted to be Harvey Korman's stunt double so bad. Or kissing double. Or hugging double.
I've learned that Ali McGraw got a big kick out of this parody. Ryan O'Neal didn't like it. I guess he doesn't have a sense of humor.
He probably didn't like the awful wig! ha!
He must have a sense of humour. He starred in What's Up Doc?
Yeah - history has long ago proven that Ryan O'Neal has no sense of humor whatsoever...lol
Ryan O'Neal seemed to take himself pretty seriously.
Somewhat simplistic “assessments” of imagining what someone else “must have/ might have/ would have thought”. Who amongst you is an expert at knowing precisely what ANYONE else thinks. The end
Fabuloso 😁😁😁
Being supreme court chief justice is prestigious and all, but he'd probably have made more money staying a senior partner at a law firm lol
A four minute egg. The writers couldn’t help themselves. Lol. Tramplong
Saying I love You, means I never have to say... I love You!?
What has happened to good Television?
3:00 😅😂😅 I've heard of knocking her socks off, but...😅
Harvey is a much better actor than Ryan
Great skit
Glad to see someone made fun of that awful movie.
Took me a minute.
What movie?
@@kelly3014 It was called Love Story. 1970 with Ryan O'neal and Ali McGraw. It won Oscars. I watched it a few years ago because it is considered a classic, iconic movie. I thought it was terrible. The only good thing about that movie was the theme song, which was made great by Andy Williams in 1971.
Just my opinion.
@@rays7437 And mine. That's what's so funny about the skit. The book was corny enough.
@@rays7437 What was so terrible about it? Never saw the movie but was just wondering.
