Vicki Lawrence's acting ability is astounding .....she is like a seasoned pro, considering how she came on the scene with Carol Burnett as a teen. Her comedic timing is impeccable as if she had been in the business for decades. Vicki was born a pro.

Do u realize how much these ppl practice? And how many hours of tutoring she had? Good acting doesn’t come easy. She had to work VERY hard and practice for endless hours. Carol helped her alot too. Carol is the true talent here. Harvey too and what’s his name,the guy who plays Mickey. I can’t remember his name most of the time.
And the most amazing thing is she got her start with Mrs. Burnett just by sending a picture of herself to show how much she looked like Mrs. Burnett. Too bad my life didn’t go that way considering how much people said I looked like Mr. Charles Bronson. Guess I should ‘HAVE’ mailed a picture of myself too ha ha

Carol Burnett is a National Treasure, a comic genius. And she was not afraid to surround herself with other comic genius. And never afraid to let them shine also.

They NAILED these characters.. Mama and Eunice have been my favorites since Mama's Family in the "80's". I just found out that the show originated from the Carol Burnett show which I never watched as a kid.. 😒!!
Especially considering that she's 16 years younger than Carol Burnett. During a TV interview years ago, Vicki Lawrence shared that she joined the Carol Burnett Show (back in the 60's) after she had just turned 16.

My favorite character on Mama's Family is Eunice. I loved watching The Carol Burnett Show because of Carol Burnett. I love her, she's a comical genius! The shows ensemble was awesome. Carol Burnett, Tim Conway, Harvey Corman, Lyle Wagner & Vicki Lawrence worked excellent together! This was not only excellent acting but clean fun for the whole family. Shows of today simply don't measure up! This show and the characters are legends in their own time & are sorely missed.
The character development, combined with the actors who portrayed them, the writers and set creators, just flat out worked together perfectly. I was a young teen in the 70s when this came out and even at that age, I thoroughly enjoyed episodes with mamma and company. The elephant story was one of the all time best TV moments. What an excellent show this was. It’s too bad variety shows are no more.
What's great about these sketches and Mama's Family is that they don't even tell jokes but they're hilarious. Facial expressions, line delivery, timing. True talent :)
I read somewhere that, when they read the script straight, it was so painful for everyone to say these awful things aloud. The Higgins family, adding Mama Harper, was the stereotypical dysfunctional family. They added the voice inflections and facial expressions to lighten it up.

It's called _Overnight Guest_ and it's from October 1977. If they haven't put those Family skits on a DVD set already, I don't expect it will happen-- but I would *love* it! That is my favorite of everything they did on this show.
Of course there was the spinoff series 'Mama's Family'; but if that were DVD-issued, it would still lack the freshness and original hilarity that the Carol Burnett Show sketches provided. Those sketches should be compiled on DVD because they would obviously be in bigger demand...

I'm 36 years old I started watching this show when I was 25 and I love this show i watch it in memory of my parents who watch it this show was in my Mama and Daddy generation.
Gerald Walker yes, however, as a 37 year old, I’m able to use cognitive thinking and figure that out without the need of waiting for someone to explain it to me. People today have gotten in that habit. “Oh I don’t feel like figuring it out, someone can do it for me.” And why shouldn’t they when they have all their technology gadgets doing it for them?
You want to see the most hilarious skit pull up the one on Tim Conway telling mama and the family about the elephant the cast had tears rolling down their cheeks half of them couldn't look at him trying to stay in character
We (our family) watched The Carol Burnett Show every week. It was terrific entertainment and is truly missed. Great skits, guests and musical numbers! It's nice to reminisce watching the CD's.

What a great sketch this was. I didn’t watch it for the comedy, I watched it to see what was going to happen next. They really got into their characters.
This is one of my favorite comedy shows ever!!!!! I still watch this everyday on prime or you tube. Carol B, Vicki L. , Harvey K., Lyle W. and Tim C. is just too hilarious. We (our family) watched The Carol Burnett Show every week. It was terrific entertainment and is truly missed. Great skits, guests and musical numbers! It's nice to reminisce watching the CD's.
Thanks so much for this one ... Jim Nabors and Tim Conway are a hoot. And of course the dynamic between Mama and Eunice is delightfully dysfunctional as always. It's so nice to see another Family sketch in my RUclips notifications! Hope to see more, like the skit where Eunice and Mickey are helping Mama pack her things to move into the senior home. 😁
Search for "Elephant" and either "Carol Burnett" or "Tim Conway", and you'll get the best of the bunch. The rest of them are really good, too, especially "Sorry!"

This is one of my favorite comedy shows ever!!!!! I still watch this everyday on prime or you tube. Carol B, Vicki L. , Harvey K., Lyle W. and Tim C. is just too hilarious. Ive enjoyed watching this as a child and I still love watching this today and forever.....Thank you for sharing your talents..Life can be stressful at times and instead of grabbing a drink. I like to laugh.
I remember this one particular line Mama said to Eunice during an argument... "Eunice, I think you have splinters in the Windmills of your mind"!! (You could see Carol was cracking up and trying to hide it)...

@@Michelle-pn9xt You're right. Well it seemed like Mama's Family which is a show a vaguely remember. I like watching these reruns of The Carol Burnett show and Sonny and Cher because I was too young to recall any of it at all.

I remember my grandmother watching reruns of this show. Of course I clearly never understood the show when I was young. But recently I came across the CB show and now I can’t stop watching it.
