- Someone Saved this once restored 1973 Volkswagen Super Beetle from Pick n Pull in Ft Worth Texas. I was told they were asking $1700 out the door.

Whoa Nelley, 1973 and it's for me. The Beetle is the only VW worth any salt. The rest of them were heaps. This vehicle will run with some effort. The VW air cooled engine is a very hearty and tough engine. My cousin has a VW (I believe it's a Super Beetle) that she's owned since the 1970s. It's been restored a few times and it's in storage. Her brother (also my cousin of course) owned a foreign car repair shop in Colorado and restored it a few times. It's in the Northeast now and in her garage at least since the late 1970s/early 1980s. I just got back from Kentucky for work. Whoa Nelley, it was cold there, about 40 degrees colder than it should have been.
We got the VIN, we win: 1 for Type 1 chassis (Beetle), 3 for Super Beetle, 3 for 1973 model year, 2 is a placeholder to avoid duplication with earlier VINs, and the rest is the production sequence. This was likely assembled at the Wolfsburg plant in West Germany. The VW Shop doesn't appear to exist in Lincoln, NE any longer. Mr. Van Allen appears to possibly still be alive and living in Nebraska. Perhaps it was a home based business. No tag, can't brag, but possible code L30E Bahia Red exterior paint. Today that's called a "frunk" (front trunk).
Whoa Nelley, the Bug needs some love. "Ready for Love" (Bad Company/Bad Company Deluxe/1974) and this VDub needs a good scrub. Type 1 may not be done. This Bug didn't get squashed but it needs a good wash. That's it, time to quit. Air cooled and not to be fooled. Not too much junk in the frunk. Not going to be flat and that won't be that. Bahia Red may not be ready for bed. Please don't get squished because all of the Type 1 faithful, maybe Benny and yup, to a degree the Google Man are all going to be very, very, very pissed.
Thanks for keeping video. It was good 👍 different
Mr. B. Here ! 🍩☕️👀😎👍. This shows how little young people are interested in the hobby, am glad it got sold 👏👏👏👏🧰🪛🛠️
Morning
Good evening ! 🍸🍸👀😎👍👏
I love that little Beetle Benny, I'm glad it sold 👍
man I loved these little beetles! owned 3 or 4 over the years. they went pretty good on winter roads but the heater always sucked in them lol
Old trick on that pillar section, spray foam then filler. To bad as foam holds moisture. Glad it got saved, Texas is a long haul for me to save. Not sure I need another one for my 'fleet' Thanks for the tag-a-long Benny.
Excellent benny 😊
I knew it’d sell fast! Those are pretty hot items! Would love to have one!
That was a steal for $1700, even with the rust, i've owned 3- 73 sb's along with a few other years.
I dig the old school Beetles, as I read a LOT of #hotVW magazines back in the day, right alongside #HotRod and #MoPar magazine. This is a diamond in the rough, so it's good to know that it got another chance.👍
Never had the beetle but has two vans and a square back. It helps to know how to tinker with them
🏁 Nice video Benny!! 🇺🇲🏁🏁🏁😎🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁
Well that was a quick turnover! It hardly spent time in the yard before being set free! Goes to show that there's still a market for these awesome Beetles. $1700 ain't bad, although I'd ask for bottom dollar! What a great base for a project!
I bet those two ugly second gen Dodge Ram trucks are still there haha!
A pretty lawn ornament representing a by gone era, the rust will finish her off.
Had to visit lol 😊
It’s also known as the frunk 😂❤🎉
I have seen much worst! It would be in my garage if it was here! Thanks!
I learned stick on a ‘73 Squareback. I miss that car.
If it wasn't a superbeetle, I'd go for it. I like regular Beetles. Preferably 70 and earlier.
Heard the motors are super easy to rebuild.
You can drop them out in no time flat.
i think that lever you were trying to pull was for the gas door
3:26: I'd be very concerned about that rust on the cross-rail there; it looks like it's the place where the lower control arms attach....
My father had one of those he was a Master Mechanic he said a Porsche engine will bolt right up into that car and you don't even have to modify anything
Little VW

Where's Mr. Google?
I just got back from being out of town in Kentucky for work.
Never liked those later models with those "elephant feet" tail lights. Earlyer ones with oval headlights and small tail lights were cool though.
Someone should take this car and paint it white with 53 3 on doors aka Herbie the Love Bug, for those of us who know this1
You found Herbie's cousin Benny
It will float, But MY CORVAIR IS BETTER👍🇺🇸
No comparison. The Beetle was a better car. The Corvair, while unique was an embarrassment for GM.
