- 1986 Chevy Conversion Van 20 Junkyard Find. I remember seeing this 86 GM Van in the auction. I didn't think the junkyard would wind up with it, but it did. I think this one definitely had some more life in her and deserved to be saved. It was a bit of a time capsule and had a nice interior as well as a full set of rhe 15x7 GM ralley wheels, complete with beauty rings and center caps.
Breaking my heart man. What a clean van...🤦🏻♂️
My friend at work is into van camping and loves the old conversion vans. I show him your van videos and he loves them. That thing would be a gem in Ohio. They’re never that old and clean up here.
Sad to see it go it's in good shape
that van a virtual flea market on wheels man love it!
I like it when you rumage through the old stuff in these old cars, it's amazing what the junkyards will leave sometimes and this van was in pretty decent shape, I'm not a van guy but that one would have been a good one to fix up.
That’s crazy that’s got to be one of the cleanest vans you have looked at. Ok I get the frame had some rust but I don’t think it was really worth
Going to the scrapyard
That's some (formerly) rollin' history right there! Just a few rusty spots, steam clean the seats & carpeting, fix the usual stuff, & toss the 305 out for a 350...keep on truckin'!
If those Firestone Tires are 235/75r15 they were recalled years ago. Hmmm free sneakers😁
Omg, that has to be saved man!
Damn, that is clean for being junked, surprised they did not try to sell it whole. Any idea what was wrong with it?
Looks clean and straight
That van goes back like four flats on a caddilac !, and it even has the four flats itself!!!
😆 👍
Don't be shy about posting the vans. I love the vans. A lot of them have some cool stuff inside too.
Hey man, love your channel. I used to hit up an Indian buffet when I lived in Boston that would give out herbal cardamom mixes after your meal. You chew on it as a digestive aid and breath freshener. Good Stuff!!
Use to have access to one just like this back in the late 90,s early 2000,s....enjoyed it......
At first, I thought the yard was being wasteful, but the battery tray and the underside is a little concerning. But hey, it's the midwest! We've seen worse! Kinda wish there was some attempt to sell it as it's harder to find good vans with seats in them.
Hope you took all the goodies there Benny, the yard charges for car parts and they shouldn't charge paper materials like Reader's Digest!
The Texas map is pretty cool tho, wonder how much the highways have changed since then
The sad thing is I could have bought this van from the auction. I bet a $3-400 bid would have won it
@@ClassicRideSociety And you probably could've flipped it if you threw it up on Craigslist or FB Marketplace. If you priced it anywhere from $1k to $3k, she'll go quick! Maybe with some vacuuming, fresh oil, filters, tires, and MAYBE tags you could make anywhere from a few hundred bucks to a couple g's. Your brother could flip cars with ya lol
That could easily fixed up . . That’s in good condition. I’ve owned two of those ! I had a 85 & a 1995 with a fuel injected 350 CU in .
She nice and clean
My door does that too. Lil spring broken won't let the latch return. Mine is an 86 as well, same color. 305.
Cool man another friggin van keep them coming
Nice van so clean. Would be a nice fixer upper. Those Corvette rallies are hard to find.
i like vans my stepdad always had a conversion van i remember riding on trips to Arkansas in a 1990s gmc vandura.
I've had a few van's in my life, no complaints.
Love to search too brother. You never know what you will find. One of my hobbies.
Cool van
Conversion vans were a electrical nightmare
i for one like that old stuff with out a doubt.
👍
Whoa Nelley, we got a conversion van, man. My father's Cadillac dealer where he worked also sold them in the mid 80s. They were highly profitable. They sold them on Chevy van chassis.
We got the VIN, we win, here we go from the top: 1 for US made, G for General Motors, B for Chevrolet incomplete (as it is a conversion van), E for 6,001 to 7,000 # GVWR rating, with hydraulic brakes, G for G series van, 2 for 3/4 ton rating, 5 for van body style, H for "LE9" 305 V8 with four barrel, 1 is a check digit, G for 1986 model year, 7 for Lordstown, OH assembly and the rest is the production sequence.
Can never have enough four ways. I have several and I have a blue metric Craftsman that I still use. That thing is a USA made tank and will bust just about anything loose lug not wise that's tight. Bygone era.
Yup, Standard Motor Products. Still around at 37-18 Northern Blvd in Long Island City, NY 11101 in an Art Deco building where they've been for a long time. That brush is a purchased part, not made by them and by now, it's likely from a vendor that supplies the rest of the industry. That's an older box by the style of the print on it. MX1 is for a TH350, likely actually a THM350C (with lock up converter). A typical THM350 was RPO M33 or M38 depending on the vehicle. This started life as a Frost White van and the rest of the treatment was added on by the upftitter.
Blackhawk manufactured top of the line tools before they got bought out I haven't seen any in years now.
@@garymckee8857 Blackhawk was bought by Stanley some years back. I thin it's a mix of USA and import now. I have some Proto stuff that was also made by Stanley, but that's been USA for the whole time. I have a 3/4 drive set I bought online that's a mix of Craftsman, SK, Snap-On and Proto. I usually like everything to match up, but in this case, it's a back up set, so I'm fine with a mixed bag. All USA made though.
Another great video, Benny! Keep them coming. ✌
👍
damn that nicest vas for 86
Usually those are beat up. they could
sell it for 2000 make travel van
can't believe it junk why it was junk
got a new van decided to junk the old van man paint job is good condition
its been repainted
Fold down trap bed. Late night sneaking out...
😆👌👍
Vans are cool.
Buy it and restore it💪
Bodys in decent shape..anything like that here in new england would be rotted to hell
Mesquite on the check in... This one hurts to see, I had an '88 G-20 Tra-Tech conversion. After getting the rear A/C serviced correctly (orifice tube/ring, I believe) and a 17" screen and DVD player in the back the kids were so much more quiet on those road trips. Miss that thing man.... Stay Safe Buddy.
I would of bought that and I know for a fact that with a good tune up it would run good.
Cool Van 😀
We need a Classic Ride Society bumper sticker
Maybe one of these days I get some made
That would still be a good travel vehicle
If you didn't say 1986, moreover show that it was a 1986 I would have guessed 1978. Something about this one that has a very 70s paint job and just seems to be a little cheap and empty on the inside. Normally I'm into these because they remind me of my early twenties and how everybody want one. But this particular one, she didn't get lucky coming out of the factory. That was a quickie at the custom house
Man what a shame on this van, still in real good shape!!!
Told my wife, I'd like to buy a cool van in the junkyard at scrap price and take it to my sons shop and have them fix and replace what's needed, cheaper then paying $30,000 for a completely done one, that's not to my style, I just want it simple, bubble Windows, bed and side pipes!
The next gen was so much more comfortable to drive. The big problem is rust on the quarters and Doors, every one I see up north has it and GM keep building with out doing anything about! Sad. :-(
Remember..it's not bezel....it's beezel
Hi Benny I used to own a van like that .that nicer than the van I had.if I was there id buy it.it shouldn't be there.thanks Benny
Shagging wagon !
👍
Odd, it seems to have an '83-'84 grille. Also it doesn't have quad headlights like most of them had.
Fan's an add-on somebody did. Kind of unusual it doesn't have power windows.
For what one of those things brings at an auction down there I'd be sorely tempted to make a deal to buy one and have it sent up here. Or drive it, if it would make it that far. It would have to make it to New York. I mean the rust on that is nothing compared to what happens to them up here.
I bet she sold for$500 tops at the local auction
I'd guess half that to a salvage yard.
Its been a year but like to now if that van is still there need side window let me now please and how much.
I'm surprised that that van was junked.
How can I get in touch with that junkyard for parts off of that van
Me too
That ol Chevy van would make a sweet RV camper if owned one first of keep those captain swivel chairs & folding bunk & get rid 80s entertainment system but luv the radio in that red & sliver van . It's in great shape all need is new interior dash & gas tank cause ol one is junk.
Yard knocked the tank off to drain it
Tell me this sold whole and went to a good home.
Pebbles in a bottle to break teeth 😆
Very nice van. Damn shame.
How much for the van
Thats a shame! I would drive that today
It can't be from Missouri, Chevy vans around here always have at least two holes you could stick your head through. 😬
My God please say it wasn't crushed ? Damn!!!!😖
Not ye6
Why cant you guys buy it ?classic ride society?
@@jasonsheppard7877 the junkyard turns the the title over to the state and it cam only be parted out at that point.
I still think Van's are cool! If only it could tell u stories!!!!
I like to make somewhat educated guesses from what I find in them. But oh if they could talk
How much did it go for?
Don't know what the junkyard paid for it. They were parting it out
How much for it
Amigo qual o valor desse aí??????????
some good finds inside and decent/nice for age interior. maybe someones van that passed away. Dont think those are mint bro. Those kind of things are good hiding places people use.
That interior needs to ripped out..painful 😬👎🏻
