I had four of these cars and a 1972 looked just like that one with the chrome on the back and mine at some underneath the hood. I put some nice pipes on it and some Webber Carbs and a little Motor Work. I loved the car it ran great and sounded great. Some Prick stool it from the Hospital and they never found it. Broke my heart at that time I was going through some tough times and that car helped me get through those Bad times. I also had three POP Top campers. I bought one brand new in 1970 for 1800 dollars, fantastic car . 28 miles to the gallon driving cross country. Never had a problem in eighty thousand miles. Thirty grand seems a little pricy,
When I was growing up Beetles were everywhere. I knew several people who bought them, and kept them for a very long time. We had a VW mechanic who would fix our VW who put over 1,000,000 miles on a 1956 bug. Several more people I knew paid $2,000.00 for one, and drove it for over 20 years. When they sold the bug the odometer had rolled over more than once, and they were getting $2,500.00 to $3,000.00. The VW Beetle, and Bus were the only two cars I have seen in my lifetime that would appreciate, and not depreciate in value. Most cars depreciate. During the gas crises in the 1970's the Beetle was in demand. Some people got something like 37 miles to the gallon at the time when most cars got between 8 and 17 miles to the gallon of gas. The Beetle performed efficiently, and had no sensors or computers to monitor the gas mileage.
I owned a ‘72 Super…… imo the best super beetle because it didn’t have the ugly round tailights of the ‘73…. it had a flat windshield, not the ugly curved one… and it didn’t have the huge, bulbous front end of the ‘73. The ‘72 was a one-off…… 👍 I’d love to own that!
Seen Splits go for 3x this , You could buy 2 Hemi cudas for the price of a Hebmuller Beetle . These used to be so cheap back in the day these things have skyrocketed man

I AGREE . 72 IS MY FAVORITE YEAR .
Drove this year of VW in college. Good car but not much power. Hard to get on the freeway from entrance. Frame up restoration, maybe 20,000.
If it was a VW bus it would be more. You have to remember that most of the buyers are overseas
Where overseas? China?
Insane.
could of bought a split for that price
It's true there is a sucker born every minute.
More than one now-a-days.
Lol
