@@hmohns7035 Sorry, but the Midnight Special (and a few other shows) were LIVE! American Bandstand (US), Top of the Pops (UK) were lip-synched.\ If you have the experience you claim, you would know that Ann Wilson used a one directional microphone. Unless you sang DIECTLY INTO the mic, it would lose sound, unlike multi-directional microphones. Watch the video again. When Ann moves the mic away from her mouth, the sound drops. It does. You just have to find it, though it is few and far between. Moriah Formica sang this song on The Voice during the blind auditions and turned all 4 chairs. Not only is she one of the the youngest to do it (16 at the time) she is the ONLY contestant to do it in the rock genre in the entire history of the show. Since then she formed her own band called PLUSH. I haven't heard so much as a mediocre song from them. Everything is great.. check out Better Off Alone or Sober. They also do an incredible cover of Barracuda. Another great band that brings new music with an old school sound is Liliac. They're the band that brought me back to modern music. They're actually a family band, but they aren't no Partridge Family or Hanson. I'll tell ya that. While they do have amazing covers of Dio, Iron Maiden, Sabbath, Joan Jett, Janice etc., their originals is where it's at. Check out Not Afraid (extended), We Are The Children or Dear Father.

I wanted to BE Ann & Nancy Wilson in high school, and I LOVED stayed up late to watch The Midnight Special! Everyone was on that show, and watching these groups perform LIVE was so exciting! Thank you for keeping great music alive, Jamal- I know it hasn’t been easy, but what you do makes a difference in showcasing such amazing talent, and opening the ears & hearts of generations who would never had heard the truly amazing music of the 60’s & 70’s. I salute you! 🌟🌟🌟❤️❤️❤️🎼🎵🎶
I miss this music. I still listen to it all the time. Nothing beats Heart and all of the rest of the music from 70s and 80s. Her voice is probably the best female rock singers. Although I do love Pat Benatar also
Thank god my parents let me watch whatever I wanted to! Midnight Special was the truth! So many great, iconic performances. I didn't see my first concert til I was 14 (Rush, Moving PIctures), so this was a wonderful way to see live performances.
Heart were one of the bands at the first concert I attended; Cal Jam 2 in March of 1978. This was the last song of their set. I was 15yrs9mos and was there for over 27 hours, and then hitchhiked home from the Ontario Speedway to San Bernardino.
Heart is one of a kind and so different from any other band. Unique in every way. That's why they are special. No one can touch Ann Wilson especially back then.
When my. Daughter was young and it was the Britney/Christina Era, y2k. I had her listen to Heart and Fleetwood Mac, explaining that this is how it's done. Never heard the pop tarts again .
Awesome women! Ann Wilson started singing because she stuttered and doctors thought it would help. I bet her music teachers got the shock of their lives!!!❤️❤️❤️ Edit and oh my God how beautiful they both are!!!
Ann and Nancy were rockers. They could care less about looking like models. They hated in the 80s when they were forced to glam up and sell their looks.
My favorite Heart song is Dog and Butterfly, the title track from the album of the same name. I had a picture album of their greatest hits when I was young, a giant red heart in a frame, embedded right into the vinyl. I wore it out. Dog and Butterfly got airplay, but it's not one of their biggest hits. Always makes me cry, it's so beautiful. Btw, glad to see you in my feed again.
I remember my older sister had Dreamboat Annie and would play this album over and over. Crazy on You and Magic Man were my favorite tracks. Love the Wilson sisters.
Heart's co-founder and lead guitarist, Roger Fisher, co-wrote the music to this great song. That classic electric guitar harmony is all him. He was in Heart from 1967 to 1979.
From 79-81, Heart toured on America. 40 years ago ! My favorite band in the 70s and my favorite band to this day. ❤ Add Rush to the mix and you have all the music you need to be happy in this world. ❤️🔥
First female band I ever liked... still one of the very few. Rock to me was male artists, but then came Heart ❤!...of course there was no drooling over the singer... for me
I saw this exact show that Friday night when they first showed this and I couldn't believe what I was seeing when that young lady started pounding that guitar and then I was knocked right on my butt when I heard her singing! Me and three of my friends actually got in the front row on that Midnight Special show back in the very late 70s and we saw Thin Lizzy right in the middle in the front row! We thought we were sitting against the wall on the left side of the room that this was filmed in but it turned out to be the front of another stage!! And the main star that night was Aretha Franklin who sang and introduced a group called the babies! What a memory! But I still remember seeing this the Friday night when heart debuted and I couldn't believe it what a great song!!
Ok so I had a high school friend who was rooming with another friend in our freshman year in college. He absolutely adored this song, played it all the time, drove us nuts. One day, when he was out, we took his cassette tape and dubbed our two voices over Ann Wilson's. Neither of us can sing. I still remember how he freaked out when he heard it. It was hilarious. The whole dorm wing was laughing about it for a week. :)
Stayed up for that show every week in my youth. Ticked off the parents, but it was worth it. Midnight special and Don Kirshner's Rock concert. Great memories.
While this is good, the best live version of this song comes from a 1978 concert. It starts with an epic intro from Nancy and leads into the whole band just killing it. It will blow your mind!

There's still something to be said for imagination. Thanks for all of your great videos you are indeed a good human

I went to Cal Jam II at Ontario Motor Speedway back in 1978, and because I was 17, my dad wanted my older brother to tag along. Sheesh, I was a well tollerenced stoner who was not to be reckoned with. I smoked my pot, drank my brandy, and past out late getting ready for day 2. I must have been really passed out as we had decided to stage ourselves right beneath one of the huge towers of speakers, and I slept through several groups, but when Heart came on I was up like a shot! 😁😎👍✌
Back in that day, I saw them at a stadium. I climbed up on the fence around the stage. I was a young buck then. And decent looking. Security wanted me off the fence. Anne said to leave me and asked me what I wanted to hear. I said Crazy on YOU. WOW. LOL
