Of course, many below will mention how HEART loved LED ZEPPELIN, and 35 years later, in honor of them, HEART sings a rendition of STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN in front of LED ZEPPELIN - and is considered one of the finest tribute renditions ever - AND it will shed a tear or two on how moving it was to them, LED ZEPPELIN, and the audience at the time. Highly recommended to watch.
Considering how much these two appreciate Zeppelin, I'd say it's a must for them to check out that performance. I've watched it many times, and it still moves me to see Jason Bonham on drums.
Kennedy Center Honors takes it to a WHOLE nother LEVEL!! Love it as much as the original-and that's saying something!🔥 (edit) I think they should also react to Jack Black's introduction about Led Zepplin too!!!👍🏻 He nailed them!
Heart is one of the great bands to come out of Germany in the 90s. The lead singer and drummer are cousins and from the Heart family of Dresden. Amazing musicians.
I was in high school when we would go to someone’s house and watch Midnight Special. (It came on at midnight, hence the name) So many great, iconic groups played. So many great memories of this.
They had the one sister who plays acoustic, one full time lead guitarist and then the keyboard player came out to help on guitar as well for this performance....
I saw them around the time of this video, August 16th, 1977 at Convention Hall in Asbury Park, New Jersey. It was the night Elvis died and they dedicated Zeppelin's "Rock n Roll", the last song of the night, to the King.
These songs still get a fair amount of radio play.. and I hear them when I walk into gas stations convenience stores etc… .. that’s where you hear bits of songs that maybe you don’t know who or where or when it comes from
I think the fella that switched from the keys to the guitar is Howard Leese. In '98 he started playing guitar in the Paul Rodgers band and later started touring with Rodgers in Bad Company. You should get that Midnight Special DVD. Something you would definitely enjoy.
The Wilson aisters also helped usher in the grunge music wave. They owned a recording studio in Seattle that Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and the rest of the Seattle music scene recorded at.
Ann and Nancy Wilson are sisters. Nancy opened the song with the acoustic solo introduction. they were about 21 or so in this video, and very early in their careers. I think this was 1977.
It's was a blast growing up in the 70's and 80's. Getting to see all these great bands. I can tell you one thing, these singers did not need autotuning. You won't find any better than Ann Wilson. She could sing her ass off.
Try Mistral Wind, for some Zeppelin influenced hard rock from Heart. Their talents to write, record and perform live are undeniable. There’s a reason they’ve been around so long. 🤘😎
I am just really enjoying watching you guys on your musical journey. Through you guys, I get to watch a 50 year old favorite as if it's for the first time....such a blessing! Thanks BIG time.
What's Crazy is the studio version is such an epic track and for them to go out there on national TV and deliver the goods the way they did speaks volumes about the talent of the band as a whole. It's a very ambitious arrangement and to pull that off live....amazing!
Guys, "Magic Man" is the true hit from Heart's "Dreamboat Annie" album. At least it was when I bought it in 1975 at the age of 20. 🙂 I was amazed and fascinated by sisters Anne (lead vocals) and Nancy (at that time, many acoustic guitar) WilsonI hope you'll react to "Magic Man" one day. Thanks!
I have a DVD player ... and i DO use it. A lot. 😊 You will not regret investing in a DVD compilation of The Midnight Special programs. Top artists with high production value. It was a free weekly concert for those of who were watching it back then.
@@AirplayBeats They are inexpensive these days. Make sure to buy one with Blu-ray capability. Doesn't cost much more. You never know when the time may come that all you have is a Blu-ray disc. As I said in my edit -- definitely invest in a DVD compilation of The Midnight Special TV programs. Well worth it.
Man. I thought I was the only person on earth that still had a DVD player. At least I'm in good company. Another fantastic review, guys. Heart has several classics including "Alone" and "Barracuda". Check them out.
No chance you’re the only one. I have too much good stuff on disc to be without a player that covers multiple formats. Things that only live in a file on a computer or a hard drive are at a special type of risk.
Midnight Special back in the mid-late 70's was literally the ONLY place you could see Rock bands back then. I was lucky enough to catch the Tail end of it in the lat 70's, was on Saturday nights from Midnight (obviously haha) till like 1 or 1:30. There was another show before that called Don Kirshner's Rock concert, that ran from 73-81. Same concept, but much heavier bands usually. Like UFO, Nazerath and even Zeppelin was asked, but declined. Don Kirshner was a record Producer, he created the Monkees, the first real bad to ever be assembled from scratch, they were intended to be Americas version of the Beatles..
Another short run TV show was "Hollywood Heartbeat" (hosted by Fleetwood Mac's Bob Welch) and only ran one year (1980-81). This was the first time I saw Blondie, The Police, etc.
As incredible as her voice is right here, she only got better with age. It's mindboggling. At 62 years old, Ann Wilson delivered one of the greatest vocal performances in all of music. As far as I'm concerned, until I see another female rock vocalist outdo that performance, at that age... Ann Wilson is the one, and only, Queen of Rock.
I met my husband in 1976. He had the bluest eyes I had ever seen. He invited me home for the weekend & I never left. He was the Magic Man. I lost him in 2019 after 43 years ❤
@@willo8794 But you will always have 43 years of loving memories. And if you're like me, certain songs bring back those memories. They put a warm feeling in your heart❤. I bet Magic Man does that for you. You're A Diamond Sparkling In The Sand by Tower Of Power does that for me. Best wishes. 🙂
Ann and Nancy Wilson were the focus but they owe a lot to the other band members: Roger Fisher[guitar], Steve Fossen[bass], Howard Leese[guitar], Michael Derosier[drums], for being such a dynamic, impact band.
One of the greatest female voices in rock. Btw Midnight Special now has their own RUclips channel and it’s already packed with amazing live performances. They have excellent audio quality too. I’m not sure if they’ve uploaded everything yet. Great source of live music!

I'll second that

"And she's buying a stairway to heaven"
You can't buy your way to heaven you have to repent.😂
Yes, you must watch their Kennedy Center Honors performance of Stairway!!@

Two very talented sisters
These two ladies are definitely rock royalty!
You guys are top notch reactors. Perceptive, open minded, curious and well spoken.
The Wilson sisters are the real deal. Singers, song writers, musicians
Great band from the 70’s & 80’s. There’s a rabbit hole here. Thanks for playing!
all time classic! Ann WIlson is one of the greatest vocalist! ♥
When these two ladies harmonize it's like angels singing I'm going to get pulled over for speeding 😄
A refreshing alternative to half naked singers and dancers, smoke bombs, etc. Just pure music. Ahhhhh❤

These ladies kick butt they also do a great renditions of Led Zeppelin songs. It is stairway to heaven at the Kennedy center honoring Zeppelin
The best female rockers!
In '77 i was 13yrs old...saw this on TV and went through puberty real damn quick 😂...she is a rock star
😂

Ann Wilson can go crazy on me any time, any where. They KILLED it that time.
Loved Ann's voice
They had the one sister who plays acoustic, one full time lead guitarist and then the keyboard player came out to help on guitar as well for this performance....
The Wilson sisters made a massive statement for women in rock. Kudos.
Of course it was also instant crush for me on both of them.
That song is INSANE!!! 😎
Best female rock vocalist in the history of rock. Ann Wilson is a legend...
Moved me to tears not sure why maybe a wave of nostalgia but what a fantastic all around live performance!
Barracuda... Magic Man...
The video version of "Alone" is fantastic. Ann's vocals kill and Nancy gets some love for her amazing guitar talent.
They are just amazing

Ann had one of the best vocal coaches in the world back in that time period.

My older sister listened to ❤ over n over. Great Group
She has fire in her voice.

She went crazy on us.
Arguably Heart's finest song.
That’s what I call freaking rock ‘n’ roll bro!
Heart were a truly super rock band fronted by the two Wilson sisters Anne one of rock's greatest voices and Nancy on guitar.
One of the most powerful voices in rock music history.
They did a live version of Zeppelin's "Rain Song", it's quite nice.
Ann is still killing vocals today in her 70s, she recently covered Layne Staley’s vocals in Rooster with Alice In Chains.

What a blessed time it was to grow up in the 70s. We had the best rock bands, a genre I wish we could hear more from today!
And how did they manage without auto tune? Oh, that's right. They actually could sing and had talent.
It really was. My very first rock concert was Queen in '76. That was a pretty high bar that few could match, but it was all good.
Oh YEAH!!! Heart were a powerhouse. The a Wilson sisters were a force...a powerful force. Magic Man is worth looking into.

First lady's of Rock n Roll
I loved the Midnight Special Show! I had cool parents that made sure I was exposed to the best music ever!
I’m so glad you found Heart!!! Listen to Barracuda
Heart is a great band. You should check out their song “Alone”, it’s a power ballad from the 80’s and it’s really awesome 👍
Go for the video version, not in concert. Ann is amazing on this song!
@@punkydoodle4774 Yeah, definitely the video version, good point 👍
Great one here love you guys
Good Times!! Live, on tv, too. Loved them.
The guitar opening is a lesson in pure virtuosity....the following vocals pure magic. The rest of the band are great as well.
Ann Wison just recorded a duet with Dave Draiman and Disturbed. It's really damn good .
There are multiple dvds from the midnight special, soooo good!
This has been one of my favorite bands since Dream Boat Annie came out. As usual I suggest playin whole albums in order. :) Good jams, good songs...
The original lineup of Heart can't be beat.
This was an incredible first album. Very diverse songs. Dreamboat Annie is just beautiful. So is How Deep It Goes. The whole album really.

IF you can find it, react to a version of the doing Led Zeppelin’s “Rock and Roll”. Listen to both bands versions! Both amazing!

Dreamboat Annie is a short, but great song. Say Hello is another underrated song.
