    Dealerships have been overvaluing their inventory and helping people to apply for expensive loans which are over the MSRP appraisals. The banks allowed these criminals to get away with it. And now we are supposed to feel bad for them?

    I did used vehicle inspections at a GM dealer. If a trade in needs more than $2-4k in parts, labor, and recon it often gets sent to auction or the budget lot. High end vehicles don't sell well on budget lots. Most need tires, brakes, have leaks, need body repairs, etc., but yeah if they're at auction it probably needs over $2k in repairs to pass a GM inspection or has an intermittent issue that couldn't be fixed for a reasonable amount of money. If a used vehicle is being sold on a GM dealer lot it will often have no known serious issues. Most dealerships can't afford bad reviews these days.

    The newer Escalades, well ever since 2010 they use that AFM on the 6.2L lifters go bad. It's not a cheap fix. But if that was the problem you would hear it. Transmission are junk also. I have a 2010 I'm waiting for the AFM to go. Then I'm going to do a what I'll call a mild engine build, and a DOD delete. I love my Escalade. I'm just going to keep it. It's been going great @ 126,000 miles. I'm old and I'm not going to pay these ridiculous prices. If I get cancer and only have a few months ill trade in a couple of my hoopties and finance a new Vette 😂.

    • @hochhaul
      @hochhaul 2 месяца назад

      Lifter repairs are not expensive to repair as long as the person that was driving it wasn't r*tarded and they stopped driving it as soon as it started making a lifter no8ise. Lifter issues are rare as long as the oil is changed often enough. The vast majority of high mileage lifter issues is caused by 80 iq clowns that think that they can go 7000 miles between oil changes because they bought the fancy oil.

    • @toddprater14
      @toddprater14 2 месяца назад

      I have a 2010 Sierra denali 6.2 .. the denalis l9h doesn’t have afm and it’s available in the slt and Silverado ltz from 09-13.the 07 and 08’s aforementioned two trims are non afm 6.0’s.. and yes you want a 07-09 in the SUV’s if you don’t want afm.

    • @hochhaul
      @hochhaul 2 месяца назад

      GM sells over a million vehicles with AFM V8's every year. Even a 0.5% lifter failure rate makes it took like they're ticking time bombs. The vast majority of AFM lifter failures is caused by 80 iq clowns that don't think about getting an oil change until the oil life monitor starts flashing warning messages in the instrument cluster screen. AFM needs clean oil with adequate oil pressure to work reliably. The early lifter failures were due to engine sludge clogging the screen in the system that send oil to the lifters to turn them on and off. That's due to lack of oil changes. The other common issue was the early design having the bolts work looses over time and causing oil pressure to drop below spec for the AFM lifters. The 2014+ engines are designed differently so that's not an issue. Engines with lifter issues in 2014+ trucks (excluding the out of spec springs that went into 2022-23 engines) are caused by a lack of oil changes, low mileage defects that happen with every manufacturer including Toyota, and issue unrelated to the lifters that cause a lifter to become damaged (such as not having enough oil in the engine or an oil pump not making enough oil pressure). I work with a ton of guys that own GM half-ton trucks that are 2014-18 body styles or 2019+ body styles. A handfull of them have over 200k miles on their trucks and they never messed with AFM disablers or AFM delete kits. They're just the type of guys that change their oil constantly. They aren't going more than 5k miles without an oil change. Some of them still do the old 3000 mile oil change because that's the way they have always done it. Amazing what changing your oil often enough can do for a guy.

    • @MrDuncl
      @MrDuncl 2 месяца назад

      Any idea what Hertz pay for the cars? I have heard rumours of rental companies getting a 45% discount. In 2002 I bought a 1 year old ex Avis GM lease car with 11000 miles on the clock for half RRP. When I test drove it it still had a sticker by the clock saying "Mileage must not exceed 15000 miles. Penalties apply". I'm sure both Avis and the GM dealer made a nice profit on it (or more accurately them as they had four identical ones).

      @@MrDuncl back in the day when we were owned by Ford they were all leased vehicles or called program cars. Currently we have been outright buying cars from all over. That vehicle was probably in the service department for an oil change. And the sales department turned the service appt into a sale. Equity mining at its finest. As far as the trade goes. They probably took that in way under the money Or even on the money knowing it’ll do over the money at auction. No need to clean or spend any time or effort on it. It’ll do a gnote plus over MMr. That’s a platinum Escalade as well. Not just a luxury. Right color, right clock (platinums are not used for livery services that’s why the white is preferred over the black) and when your running the right stuff it makes very little difference in the money you’ll fetch if your detail dept shines it or not. But it can lose 500 or so in a week by not running it to get it detailed.

Then maybe people looking for a decent used vehicle could actually afford one and then the used car dealer can still make a profit too, the Honda at the start maybe 2000 and the con. Mustang 3500 at most with that mileage.

    There didn't appear to be rust on the Jeep - that is a nice collectors item. The auction is held nearly every day of the year, good work ethic, sets a good example for the public, there is work to do.
