    Recommending watching this. It’s easy to understand, and makes me very glad I’ve purchased the FitBit Sense. We’ve got to be our own health advocates, and what a simple way to stay in touch with indicators of health related functions. This device has definitely surpassed the Dick Tracy watch. (If you’re not a senior, you won’t get it). Thanks for the video.

    I really like the Fitbit Sense, but need fall detection and LTE capability to automatically make a phone call in the case an emergency. If my husband would carry his phone, which he refuses to do, the LTE capability would not be an issue. He has had numerous falls in the last year and was recently hospitalized, followed by rehab and home health care, for a fall resulting in a fractured vertebrae. The Galaxy Watch 3 has the same capabilities as the Fitbit Sense, plus fall detection and the capability to make a call without tethering to a cell phone. I prefer the form factor of the Fitbit Sense and the Galaxy Active Watch 2, so I'm waiting for the release of the Galaxy Active Watch 3 (supposed to be out in February) to see if it will have the same functionality as the GW3, or if those capabilities are added to the Fitbit Sense. BTW the GW3 received FDA approval for the EKG last month. Excellent video. Thank you for the information.

    Oh my goodness ya got me!! LOL... This is a really encouraging video... I needed this... I just turned 60 in September...but have been on a BP med for a few years due to my Hashimoto's...which messes with everything in my body...and I've had to call the ER a couple of times because my BP just shot up out of nowhere...and I can literally feel it...well it happened again yesterday "standing at my craft desk"... and so I decided to look at the stats and sure enough it climbed to 119 and then dropped immediately to 60...scared me!! And didn't feel so good either...I was a CNA for 30 years so I have a little knowledge...maybe I'm overly observant...but Heart attack and stroke run heavily in my family...so I decided to look for a more in depth tracker and came across your video...and ordered me a Fitbit Sense...Thank you, Thank you for all the great information...I am a New Subscriber! 😊

    Nice job Ron. I appreciate your combination of skills... and able to produce videos! My undergraduate degree was in manufacturing engineering. Now most of those jobs have been off shored. The rule was every year we could not pull out 10% it would go overseas. So I went into healthcare and have/had a great career. The intresting part is when I worked with pharm...etc and they just planned for 7 to 12% increase every year. As a consultant I pay $22k a year in healthcare. Bottom line I can see some great oppertunities to us AI any many other options that can actually drive cost down. This is going to be a life changer.

    FYI...the Fitbit Sense can make you pace if you have a pacemaker! The magnet in the watch itself is strong enough to pick up a drill bit therefore can make one pace if your within 4 inches or less of your pacemaker. Can't control how close I place it while sleeping. :-( I was super bummed as there is no warning in regards to having a medical device and I really liked the watches capabilities.

    • @TechforSenior
      @TechforSenior  2 года назад +1

      You are correct. The Fitbit sense has a magnet in the charger. The Galaxy Watch 4 can detect the composition in your body by sending an electrical impulse. This can affect your pacemaker and is not recommended.

    Nice that this video exists and no doubt very helpful for many people. You do need some help with the technical side though. It's important to talk about full charge and the correct terminology (AMOLED) being an example.

    • @TechforSenior
      @TechforSenior  2 года назад

      Yes. I realized the Amoled mistake just after publication. It was corrected in the revised version which is linked in the description. Not sure what you mean about " Charge ". The Fitbit Sense has Fast charging as does the new Apple Watch 7. The Galaxy Watch 4 doesn't and takes over an hour to charge.

    • @sjstu
      @sjstu 2 года назад

      @@TechforSenior in regards to charging you mentioned that you put the watch in charge at 70% and that it was full charged after 20 minutes. You need probably more accuracy there in regards to charging times. It's also important to talk about smart watch features such as voice assistant (alarms, home control etc) and whether or not you can reply to messages. It's also important to talk about the different experiences owners of different smartphones may have. There's often disparity between Android and iOS.

    I should have asked this before I purchased a Galaxy Watch4 and in the process of sending back.
    Is the Fitbit Sense able to display ALL 4 of the following on the home screen simultaneously?
    Current heart rate, steps, distance of those steps, calories burnt.
    The Samsung Galaxy Watch4 I just discovered can NOT display all 4 of those simultaneously. Well ... I shouldn't say can't, but it takes a 3rd party watch face designer to do such as Samsung provides all of about 6 watch faces for the Watch4, none of which display more than 1 of my data points. The problem with 3rd party watch face designers? Samsung doesn't provide data to them (i.e. no api as it's called). So they have to guess steps, distance, heart rate, calories.
    Basically, the Watch4 sucks, just wondering if the Fitbit Sense also sucks with respect to displaying data to the home face?

    • @TechforSenior

    Out of curiosity, if you choose to not pay 10.00 per/mo, do you lose all those stats? In particular, without the premium, will you still get a sleep score with a Deep and REM breakdown, awake and restless, restoration, 30 day average, benchmark and so forth? The sleep breakdown is a big deal for me. My current Fitbit is failing. I'm in a quandary between another Fitbit or an Apple watch. But...I know Apple Watch does not have the same sophisticated data breakdown compared to Fitbit..(Nothing against Apple but with respect to sleep, sorry Apple). Any way of knowing what you don't get without premium? I haven't been able to find a definitive breakdown? Thanks for the time spent producing your videos:)

      Lori. That is a great question. I check my sleep every day with my Fitbit Sense and DO NOT us the paid App. I just checked and the FREE service doesn't give you the sleep stages. Please watch this video, ruclips.net/video/Kb-5GvQ_dW0/видео.html These watches just guess and any relationship to TRUE sleep analysis is fictious..

    There are many different covers and a lot of them are poor quality. Also they prevent use of EKG and EDA functions.

      yea unfortunately all the covers i found inhibit EKG and EDA, but I dont want to not wear one cause I will scratch/bang it up especially at my job. It would be nice if Fitbit came out with their own that didn't inhibit those sensors.

    too positve of a review compared to the others... expressing all good points and no negatives... it's bad for those who have not done more research on comparing this watch to the other capable smart watchs out there. Not that i am pessimistic about this product, in fact i actually want it due to my past open heart surgery but due to the complications of working with the hardware layout it is worrisome.
    u just have watch or read more articles on the problems of this product. It is a first for google on this product. I think the next version of the fitbit sense will make more sense for an investment.
    I would like to give it a try but.... i don't know..

    i’m really looking for sleep tracking, it sounds like this watch would be good for that, i’m not sure if it will track temperature changes for hotflashes, i’m hoping to track how many i get both during the day and at night. i have tried to write them down and record them but my tracking isn’t that accurate. i have had hotflashes for 12 yrs and i want to better track them to see if I can see patterns and what may affect them

    • @TechforSenior

      While you may feel hot and flushed, your body may not actually have a temperature. The Fitbit Sense measures your temperature over night only. This probably isn't going to do what you want.

    The 24/7 isn't accurate. You read the Sense manual and it wants you to wear it to bed and for 14 hours waking, so you have about 2 hours to leave it off if you like.

    "1st device produced under Google" technically no, entire product lineups are in development for usually 2-3 years, we won't see the first bit of Google influence on the hardware for at least a couple of years. Software wise it will be sooner but they can't just incorporate changes hardware wise only a few months before a product was set to come out.

      No I kept it. I have mixed feelings. The watch itself is fine but I don't get $350 of value because there are very few Apps, Fitbit will be changing to Google Wear and discontinung the Fitbit OS. This really limits the life of the watch.

    Don't buy a Sense - they don't work. Mine couldn't report sleep data 95% of the time over two weeks. Fitbit tech support couldn't tell me why and wouldn't replace it. Previously I had a Charge 3 that reported sleep data flawlessly.

There was a learning curve to using the app and fully understanding how to use the watch and app in tandem for maximum benefits.
