So the Google Store is selling a brand new smartwatch and I have one right here, but I’m not talking about the Pixel Watch. You see, Google acquired Fitbit and here we have the Fitbit Sense 2, but that leads to some questions. For Google fans, what can this tell us about the Pixel watch? For fitbit fans, how does this compare to the previous Sense, and for general enthusiasts, how good is this new device as a general smartwatch? The spec sheets look fantastic, with a 6 day battery, the latest health tracking capabilites such as an ecg, heart rate, gps, and more. And a lot more we will discuss in this video, but that is not the full story. There is a negative twist that I want to talk about.

What do you think of the Sense 2? Will Google kill or keep the Fitbit lineup as they iterate on the Pixel Watches?

Google is going to kill it because the previous version at least had Google assistant and music remote control but it seems those have been removed. The Spotify app was already just a remote, to control what was being played elsewhere

I think your assessment is spot on! I hope Google will let the consumer decide what form factor they like best. For a smart watch, I like a rectangular form factor for consuming information. Since Google owns both companies, I guess the profit hits the primary bottom line, but to ruin a product that alot of people like more than your current offering, does not make good business sense. Google purchased Fitbit because they had a somewhat good customer base and now they sacrifice it for their girl looking watch.. Im a little up set honestly.

Very good and fair review. I've had Fitbits for a couple of years, and i do like them. On the Sense, I really like the new physical button, the snappier interface (believe me, it IS faster than the old versions!), the stress feature (maybe; actually it might be more annoying than anything else), and the sleep tracking, which is quite in-depth, relative to Apple or other watches. I do worry that Fitbit is being left behind now that the Pixel watch is on the scene. I actively dislike the form factor of the Pixel watch, and I hate the 18h battery life. Note that Fitbit's battery will last 6 days for most users. I just hope you and other reviewers are incorrect that we can't expect any improvements to this watch. We will see!

With always on off, I took my Pixel watch off charger at 4AM. It is 8 Pm now and I'm at 19%. Not impressed. ECG rarely works, crashes a lot and the watch looks tiny on my small man wrists. Pixel watch does have a nice screen and LTE is reliable when using, GPS gets signal fast. Interface is also fast. The crown is small and hard to manipulate.
Fitbit Sense 2 still has a lot going for it in my opinion, it just needs faster Gps acquisition and offline syncing to be a winner in my book

I'm so disappointed with what Fitbit has been doing to these two watches, that I finally moved on, reluctantly. Loved my original Versa, had it 4 years and it just recently died. Got tired of the paywall and tired of the promise to get certain features that never happened. As I am an Android user, I decided to go with a Garmin. Can't wait for my new watch!

@@privateprivate5302 Pixel: Several men who have reviewed this watch seem to dislike the form factor (too dainty and small). As a woman, I like that aspect, but I see the problem. Fitbit: The Sense 2 has potential, but it remains to be seen if it reaches it fully with updates over time; personally, I'm willing to wait it out (I have a Sense 2). The Quantified Scientist has some good reviews as does Mike here. You can choose the tracker you want based on what matters most to you (health tracking versus more athletic focus).

Very rightly said its become like a step child and now with Fitbit clarifying that there is going to be no 3rd party app support , it really isn't a smart watch anymore. There is no wifi, calendar, calculator, no music controls, Spotify, Starbucks and other bunch of apps it had. Feel cheated after buying sense 2 that there will be no 3rd party apps. The clock faces are very limited whatever Fitbit provides. Fitbit pay has very little banks association outside the US and here in India, there has been no Fitbit Pay till today. They say they are expanding that has never happened. Sense2 was supposed to be Fitbit's flagship and now it seems to be reduced to just a fitness tracker and there is not much difference between Versa 3 and Sense2. This could be the start of the end of Fitbit. Apart from the great battery life, display and how comfortable it is, there is clearly no justification for its price tag. I would see if I can return it and it will be an end to 12 year association with Fitbit devices.

Unfortunately the versa 4 and sense 2 are extremely incompetent smartwatches. It's weird that fitbit is going in this direction as these are smartwatches. I just can't feel comfortable about the fact that there isn't any 3rd party installable apps other than Alexa, Google Maps and Wallet.

Feels to me like Fitbits are losing features and getting worse with each iteration. The Fitbit Ionic had physical buttons, an okay app gallery, and onboard music. The Sense 1 is incompatible with some of the apps in the gallery available to Ionic (because of lack of buttons), no standalone onboard music storage, and no proper button. The Sense 2 doesn't seem to come with any third party apps at all! Still no music storage! It's like a 'smartwatch' but without the smart. It's a bizarre marketing strategy.

To be honest, this feels like a product they were contractually obligated to produce somehow. It feels like Fitbit already had it in the works when the sale went through.
I got a Charge 5 recently, so I'm not really in the market for this, but a Fitbit device with the Google Assistant and Google apps would be right up my alley. It makes a lot more sense to me than the Pixel watch with Fitbit software on it. I know that sounds like a contradiction, but it's a matter of focus. Having the fitness stuff in the foreground on a smartwatch just makes more sense to me. The only other thing a smartwatch really does well is getting notifications.
For some reason, I've never been able to get Fitbits to measure my distance correctly in exercises, regardless of whether I'm using my phone or a built-in GPS (as on the Charge 5). I think it's because I'm in a wheelchair. That seems to throw the Walk exercise off. I've had mixed results with Bike, too.

it's now a stepchild for sure. I bought then returned unopened the pixel watch due to missing fitbit features vs. sense and poor battery. hoping pixel v2 fixes those - adds all missing sense tracking features, adds a temp sensor and bigger version with bigger battery (and hopefully newer processor with lower power consumption). at that point, sense 2 isn't needed by google. already you can tell they stopped work or pulled features in deference to the pixel watch. the fitbit software is pretty good / comprehensive so they'll make that more seamless with pixel watch in v2. then, the sense is a dead end, long live the sense. will hold on to my sense 1 until pixel watch v2 and then hopefully make the jump. if not, may have to get a garmin epix although lack of LTE and voice call answering (speaker / mic) hamper me there. I could do without some of the google features that I love but would prefer to see a home run in pixel watch v2.

Should I get this one over the Garmin Venu 2 Plus or should I stay with my Galaxy Watch 4? I want to really get into fitness and weight loss. Only thing I really hate about my Galaxy Watch 4 is the horrible battery so I'm thinking about getting a second one, either using that one for fitness or the one I currently have. Anyone who has some advice?

Unfortunately, Fitbit stopped making progress from Versa and Sense point of view after Versa 2, to be polite. Missing functionality, no 3rd party apps and tiles changed to a list, and over-sensitive setup of time or options on the watch, and you can't turn off the screen witha button anymore. Not to mention other issues with, for example, setting up Fitbit/Google Pay. I bought Sense 2. It's a half-product and I wouldn't have it for free! It's so rubbish. If only I could have it with Versa 2 software, that would make it a great watch again. It doesn't feel like Fitbit do care anymore. If it doesn't change, Versa 2 is my last Fitbit product after 9 years of being a loyal user.

Google should make two pixel watches now… one cheaper 200$ line (may be slightly better version of this fitbit line) and another the high-end robust pixel watch with 300$ line. The new pixel watch is i think over priced because i feel like it wont be able to justify the price although we are yet to see how good or bad it is.

Google seems to be sacrificing battery life for features. The Google Pixel sounds nice until you hear that it only has a 24-hour battery life. It makes no sense ( pun intended) for older watches like the Versa series & Fitbit Sense 2 to have 5 times the battery life than the newer devices. These smartwatches naturally tend to lose battery life over time. So, that pixel watch will be down to half a day of battery power in no time, and you would have shelled out 300 dollars for it. Planned obsolescence.
