great review ;-) watched both parts with great interest , after watching both , came back to sub and leave comment found this very helpful ,as i will be purchasing Halion 6 soon and 3 comes with it , after watching your demonstration cant wait to add it to my home studio , have given a thumbs up to both parts ;-) Trevor
I definitely need this! I was going to get this instead of kontakt 6 because it's cheaper. I know kontakt is good i just can't afford both right now and i and ready to make some tracks! Good bread n butter sounds! Thanks for the comprehensive review!
If steinberg want to compete with logik they need to include more of this stuff when you buy cubase. I've got the pro version and expected more features, the cost of all the add ons to get any where near what you get in logik is astronomical.
Tnx guys for another great vid! I'm learning a lot every day just by watching your vids and trying out some of the stuff... they are always fun to watch, and highly professional! keep it up and all the best from TelAviv :)
Last year I got Halion 6 at a 50% discount through a Steinberg email and it also comes with the Halion Sonic 3 host. Layout wise version 3 is better than the previous versions as you can more easily specify all your sounds by library especially if you want to create everything using just the one library. Halion Sonic 3 is brilliant and the sounds are all of very reasonable quality, many of the instruments even have articulations. Halion Sonic 3 is suitable for both modern and indie genres of music.
@@cl9826 It's not always on sale unfortunately, at the time I got it in a summer sale celebrating the 30th anniversary of Cubase. But as I have since bought a new computer I ended up having to buy it again with Cubase Artist 12 at full price because it wasn't in the Black Friday deal. The good news is that Halion 6 is not as expensive as it used to be, it used to be £400 ( can't remember exactly how much it is now ). Hi! I see you have a MOXF6, like me, so my question is: what do you think of the HS3 sounds compared to the MOXF sounds? are they better? do you think they could be a kind of "duplicates sounds feeling" for a guy who owns both synths? Thks!
Must say this plugin has seriously grown on me. I mean soundwise it is truly great. Especially as you can dig deep & customize according to taste. Kind of difficult to figure out the basical functionality just had to say.
I WANT TO KNOW WHY I CAN’T THIS INFORMATION FROM THE CUBASE OFFICIAL CHANNEL? I BEGGING FOR A WAVE TABLE SYNTH ON CUBASE, AND NOW I FIND OUT THAT THEY ALREADY HAVE ONE! 🤦🏽♂️
Purchased it last week and I see some difference in the quantity of sounds. For example in this video it shows 238 Guitar sounds, but I have 202 only. Keyboard show here 151, I have 134. I wonder why.
Dom is using Cubase, so will have the HALion Sonic SE content bundled with Cubase. I don't believe that content is included in HALion Sonic, though if it is omitted from HALion Sonic, you really aren't missing much as it is less exciting than the HALion Sonic content. HALion and HALion Sonic show all the HALion content on the system, including products sold separately such as Steinberg's orchestral libraries in the Iconica range.
Hello is this the version that comes free with Cubase Pro or do I need to purchase it separately. Would massively appreciate a reply as I am trying to decide on a switch from Mac to Windows and Cubase is at the heart of my decision. I am trying to use the trial but space is a massive issue on my Mac. Thanks!
I'm an *used to USB keyboard playing* FL studio user, please tell me is it possible to make the controller into ordinary pc keyboard? I never really used VST in FL except for the already in-program ones so I have no idea if it's possible to just put this software as a VST to FL (which will make my keyboard pc playing possible). I'm sorry if any of the above sounds silly, I'm just an amateur and I make .. stuff and music because it's my passion/hobby, w/o any serious lessons or courses *including these free ones online, with exceptions whenever I needed) 3:13 this is so mellow and cosy, etherall and mystical it melts icebergs in Antartica when being played holy shit you made that already awesome preset 10000000 times more amazing with a few tweaks, outstanding melody too (silly question, was it specific song or have you just played whatever as in freestyle composition?)
I don't know if I should get halion or nexus. I think nexus is over priced but that bass expansion is just such high quality. What are the live bass sounds like in halion ?? Quite odd that there are not any audio examples on steinbergs Web page
Nexus is not only overpriced, as a ROMpler it has even less editing capacities than Halion Sonic although you should get Halion 6 to get the full potential.
Hi, I see that your instrument library is pretty expansive as opposed to the one which is available in my version of Cubase LE 10 which came free with one of my products. Are these libraries to be separately bought or is my version of Halion Sonic SE the limited version ? Thanks 😊
This is a full version to be purchased separately ("Sonic 3"). The bundled one you have is "Sonic SE 3". They are completely different. SE is not a cut-down version, it is a completely different, very simple product with so-so samples.
Helo and thank you for the video! Just a quick question - am I the only one who can not resize Halion's window in FL Studio? Bought Baltic Shimmers and can not see half of the plugin. =(
Brilliant demo and application, unfortunately my installation of HALion Sonic 3 doesn't have any instruments in it that can be played. Do you know how to point the player towards the sound library?? Thanks.
There is a difference between the free HALion Sonic SE 3, which has almost no content unless you own Steinberg's Cubase or Nuendo, and the paid for HALion Sonic 3 which has all the content reviewed here.
Salve, vorrei porvi alcune domande. Perchè non è stato implementato il program change a tutti i suoni come per Hypersonic ? Perchè il program change è limitato solo sui 128 suoni GM? Perchè non è possibile mappare a piacimento un kit drum? Non ci siamo Steinberg!!!!
You only get the SE version of Halion Sonic with Cubase ( SE stands for Streamline Edition so it's a cut down version of the flagship product ). You have to buy the full version of Halion separately. You get Halion Sonic 3 as part of a bundle if you buy Halion 6.
Hi, I wanted to know if on Halion sonic 3 the "program change" is enabled on all 3200 sounds or if it is limited only to 128 sounds General Midi ??? I wish you could change ALL the sounds, including the DRUM KITS with the Program Change and Control Change combination! I understand that on Halion Sonic SE, the program change is only active with 128 GM sounds, is it possible that the "Steinberg" has omitted this very important function? I hope in your reply, best regards.
@Jack Marley Actually even Cubase Pro 10's bundled Sonic SE does not sound too good. Synths are OK, but the bread-and-butter sample libraries are reminiscent of Yamaha's 1990ies General Midi boxes. Sonic 3 seems to be a completely different product, luckily I found this video. Sonic 3 went completely under my radar since I assumed it would be the same quality level as SE.
