At 1:25 and 5:45 in regards to the interior door handle, at 1:25 your technician breaks the plastic clip that is attached to the door rod but at 5:45 he quickly attaches the rod to the clip but it is not an oem fix. I found that you can go without breaking that clip and you can remove the door panel by turning it 90 degrees. Additionally at 5:30 while hanging the door panel on the window sill it is necessary to be mindful of pulling the connection for the window switch through the panel before you punch the door panel back on to the door frame.
Thanks for the video. I was able to follow your directions and was able to fix the door. My outside handle now opens the door. I had to use a washer and e-clip to attach the handle to the opener assembly. Apparently the plastic end of the connecter wore off. Thanks again! Cost: $0.39 for the e-clip.
At 2:26 in the video Don was able to push down the door latch to give access to the second 10 mm bolt. For some reason mine (1999 model) will not push down. It appears to be attached to the door handle somehow. It appears to be held by the clip that goes through the door handle that you removed later in the video. Is there another trick I am missing? Thanks for the video!
Thanks so much. Got my door handle replaced on 2000 Civic and can open back door from outside now. That screw on left side of door handle when looking at them from inside the car, wow, what a pain in the arse.
do u have to buy the rod and door handle if its just the rod. im not sure yet whats wrong but one side of my back passenger door will only open from inside on the driver side back door. and the back passenger door wont open at all. these videos are so helpful. but for the help ill for sure buy the parts from you guys. thank you for your time
Thanks for watching. Typically that rod will not come with the door handle. You get it by itself or with the door latch. Unfortunately we so not carry it for your vehicle 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
JUST FOLLOW THE CLIP AND YOU WILL END UP WITH A DOOR HANDLE ON YOUR HANDS AND YOU WILL BE ABLE TO WASH IT AND OIL IT THAT WILL FIX MOST OF YOUR PROBLEMS
The left rear door handle on the 1999 Acura TL is broken (it will not caught the lock/unlock mechanic). Also, the child-lock is "ON" locking the door from the inside. I was wondering how I can open the door to follow the steps in the video to replace a new rear door handle? Please Help! Thank you!
hi there. I've been doing some audio preparation on my 7gen rear doors and one of inside handles doesn't open the lock now - think the pulling rod has disconnected. I'm unable to access the lock by only removing the door panel, will I be able to access it through the outside handle hole if I remove it like in your video. 6gen doors looks identical to 7gen.
We currently do not have an auto repair video that shows this particular repair. We do carry a new replacement outer door handle for your Ford Escape on our website 1aauto.com , shipping is free.
I'm missing the rod that attaches the outside handle to the latch. (Can't open the door from the outside) Do I need to purchase a new latch and handle? It looks like it comes with the latch assembly.

I just kept fiddling with it, and finally, it gave me the room to get at the bolt. It took me at least an hour just to achieve this though.
Excellent Video thanks

Was this done because the spring on the handle was broken and not permitting the door to open from the outside?

I'm in the same pickle. The child lock is "on", so I can't open the door!

For all the screws.....just use a DeWault screw gun/impact.
(Unless you're as fast as "Don"!)
What is that green thing that door handle hooks hold onto and how do I replace it?

Thanks. I couldn't figure out how to replace mine, until I watched this video. Who would have thought "remove the latch"?

This is just far too tedious and involved for a non-mechanic. There's no way I could ever do this. Thanks anyway though.
