Typically it means her moisture balance has improved, so in most cases, yes that means healthier hair 😊👍🏽

I am soooo freaking thankful you made this video! My 10 y/o daughter always hates for me to do her hair on wash day because it takes so long. She has very, very thick, curly hair that used to be easier to manage but now it's become very dry, no matter what I put on it & I know why. She's hp but I've been treating it as if it's Lp like mine. Detangling her hair is the worse. I wet it & put lots of conditioner on it but because her hair was usually matted it was a long, difficult process. I don't have a hooded dryer but I do have a heat cap and I will start giving her deep conditioning treatments every wk now.

I had low porosity, now feels moisturized as I did my hair masque 1 X a week & I used a clear shower cap along with a crochet hat, then I put a wet towel in the microwave to warm it up & kept this on my head for at least 20-30 minutes & I truly believe this helped allot & saved myself from space, which I don't have allot of these days, plus saved some CA$HOLA... I sure love your vids. Thank you, love ya Boo. Hugs to you & yours. 😘💞🎵🌷🌺🌸😆👏👍💫🌟💛

If you don't mind me asking, do you make your own masks or buy them premade? I have LP hair too that's fine strand and thick density wise, and would consider trying what you said. I think if I could introduce more moisture into my hair it would help me alleviate some of the bad tangling and struggles that plague wash day. I WISH I had the strength and patience to do a masque once a week but, honey, I may have to find a compromise for the sake of my sanity lol 😂

I swear this is the best youtube video explaining hair porosity finally i found someone who explains every porosity type because it seems that everyone only exclusively talks about either high or low but forget about us in the middle of the spectrum who have issues too but i will say I know high and low porositys are more challenging to deal with at times..

  • @raynedrop3434
    @raynedrop3434 4 года назад +3

Wow! Best hair porosity explanations I’ve heard yet. Now I finally understand my main hair type is medium porosity but now I get why my roots were more low porosity and my colored ends are high porosity. I also get why some products work better than others and why sleeping in conditioner over night wasn’t really doing much at all. Thank you so so much. If more women were aware of this, it would make caring for our individual crowns so much easier.

I’m finding using gentle (sulfate Free) Shampoo and conditioners with no “cones” and oiling her scalp before putting in any other leave in conditioner ore shea butter is helping the scalp stay healthy.

    Hi Llnwood,
Thanks for this video. I learned more in this short video than I've heard or seen on RUclips in the last 2 years. I didn't know that different porosity types could be present in the same hair strand, or how the stand ends could
absorb moisture differently than the root. The tips about the correct shampoos and conditioners was very helpful.

I know this is older but very helpful. I am Caucasian and mid 50s woman. I noticed a change in my hair with menopause, making it much higher porosity which I did not know what that was at the time. This has been very helpful. I have been using Nioxxin shampoo to help with hair loss (related to hormones) but now see that it has sulfates. I will probably keep using it because I think it helps but will concentrate it only at the scalp and try some of the other ideas here. Thanks for this video!

I’m still confused on what porosity my hair is! I have curly to wavy hair, but I have a relaxer so I’m sure that changes the type and it’s starting to matte easily and knots on my strands after perming. It gets tangled while washing my hair. I know that my hair takes a long time to dry after washing under hair dryer. And my hair is dry all the time! That’s all I got!

Thank you so much for this information. I have Caucasian normal porosity hair but my grey hair....low, low, low. It doesn't get wet. It is coarse and wirey. Greys still look frizzy even after some serious conditioning. NOW I know to heat up those little grey troublemakers to absorb the conditioner, then rinse them in cold water to lock it in. Cannot WAIT to wash my hair. You are a hair genius.
I love reading about everyone's hair stories in the comment section too.

Yassssss Linwood! Teach us about our hair! I think that I am normal/high porosity. What products should I use?

Thanks for the information. I will be watching this video again and again to make sure I know what to use for my chemically treated dry porous ends.
I've been wetting my hair with water, conditioners, oils, and using gel to lay down those unrulys then pulling it up into a pony tail. It looks and feels bad😟😟😟. I really miss going to a salon. Thanks to you we'll be getting this hair back to normal looking healthy and shiny again

If it’s chemically treated, go moreso for the high porosity side. I have listed some products in the description box to help, and I have more tips on my “how to take care of sandy brown high porosity hair” that would be a massive help for you 😊👍🏽

Yes color treated, no relaxer with mix grade of 2, 3, and 4 (#4 in the occipital area😬). Thanks Linwood, I'll try the treatment for high porosity hair. Would also recommend doing protein treatment once or twice a month or if any at all to help repair the damage from coloring and dryness?

Always great informing content. Definitely will have to watch again. It's making me 2nd guess if I really do have high porosity hair. Cab you do a video on testing to see if you have high or low porosity hair?

Thanks for all the helpful info Linwood!!! Can't wait to see what you have to say about gylcerin, cuz gylcerin and my hair aren't friends. Also I'm wondering if I need to retest my hair's porosity. I saw a video saying test a clean dry strand of hair in water. Well years ago I tested a clean wet strand of hair, with results of lp. So from my understanding there was no way to tell if the water got in since the strand was wet. Therefore, my results may have been inaccurate.
Btw...I bought the 24oz Giovanni avocado and olive oil shampoo and conditioner for $6 each on clearance at TJMaxx, and I loooove it. Especially the conditioner, it was amazing. Sorry for the long comment.

Very informative, thank you! Certainly explains why beginning to deep condition has greatly improved my high porosity sponge :)
I wonder if that's why it also loves wash and goes with a strong gel? The gel cast acting as a cuticle filler, maybe?
