Why is there flat forestry hose on a hose reel? In 45 years of working Wildland fire I have never seen such a thing. You would have to pull every inch of that hose out to charge it.

Maybe for a extended hose lay, get you 200’ in then If you need more have your hose pack with you to extend further.

@@IFlow147 That’s what hose trays and the rolled up hose and packs are for in the cabinets. I just never heard of keeping flat forestry hose on a reel. No course I have ever taken or taught has used it and no standard talks about it. Getting all the air and water out of the hose will be a nightmare not to mention cleaning it. Flat hose in wildfire situations is meant to be left in place between refills of water. Reels are taught to be used for protecting the equipment or within close proximity of the vehicle while remaining mobile. I guess I would have to talk to the person that specter it to understand.

@@AppalachianPatriot to me looks like a quicker more simple solution , instead of having to stop and connnect hoses you’ve already got a set footage ready to go. Fire tactics always evolving, I’d do agree also its something I’ve never seen either. Would be nice to see pros and cons of it. Just like the ultra high pressure line, starting to hear more about those also.

@@IFlow147 The thing is pulling 200 feet completely out before getting water to flow. It’s ok if you are going to pull it all out every time. I haven’t messed with the ultra high pressure. My area has seen it as more trouble than it’s worth. We rely on lots of foam and water for our heavy fuels. Every time you use that flat hose you would have to remove it to clean and dry it. It’s great for storage. That’s the only benefit I see. I’m going to research it. I see flat hose only for extended operations.

Have to agree... looks very modern industrial... then you get random cursive script that's rather out of place. Not the end of the world, but an odd choice for sure...

    Train horns are silly

Under most applications, I’d agree. For an Emergency Vehicle like this, I’ll have to disagree. People pay little attention your typical Horns, standard Emergency Vehicle Horns, and Sirens. A Horn like that will get their attention and hopefully get them to move out of the way.
