- ( www.TFLtruck.com ) This truck was a dually Ford F-550 chassis, but the folks at Acela truck specialize in building trucks that aren't just ordinary, but meant to take on extremely tough jobs. For this project, they've taken that bare chassis and built an urban and wildland firefighting platform. Here's how it works!

Best truck videos!
I just see a dream overland build
Over landing when your buddy catches on fire
Full cab, short bed, with all the off-road mods... Dream zombie truck
A 9' bed is a short bed?
@@JRLSprague3 lol, I wasn't clear. What I mean is the 6'9" bed from the factory
Looks like a good quality build. And just what you need for getting into the brush. Appreciate these videos that aren' t just the run of the mill truck reviews, though I like those too. 😉
Need something like this in Australia..
God, do they ever!
Leo Esposito as long as it’s a Toyota but yes definitely agree
They use diffrent models of Isuzu 4x4 trucks as Brush trucks there
This is what they need. www.fgft.com/fire-apparatus/department-national-defence-canada/
Australia needs a few squadrons of these!

My first reaction was "WOW" This is a helluva firefighting truck.
Great vehicle video Andre, thanks for this one!
That Acela 6x6 would make a heck of a brush truck. 😀
Well thought out design. Nice craftsmanship Factory guy knows the needs of wildland firefighting. Note: many full size pumpers, like LAFD, FDNY, Chicago only have a 500 gal tank.
MPT81 tires: 335/80R20 MPT (12.5R20 MPT) load index 147 ( 3075kg/6780lb ) speed rating K (68 mph) awesome dude
Great video Andre, very relevant given the fires we are having down in here in Australia.
It's awful to hear about all of the Australia fires...
It is extremely annoying how Andre keeps saying "Let's keep going." Why is he so rushed? It ruins the video. He just doesn't seem very interested
no...he's trying to keep the editing down and the video not to long...guys can talk about one thing on a truck for twenty minutes...hours if theres alcohol involved
Andre should just let the guy explain the truck build and go get lunch !😂
ADHD
I would love to see you guys go to Australia and cover a variety of fire trucks and work trucks for their territory
DBL designs done a great job. They specalize in this type of custom work
Chevy and Dodge: Ight Ima Head Out!
I grew up with my dad in the fire department and we were constantly building and using these trucks like this in the fire department we were with also used the Ford chassis they held up very well to the abuse
Would be nice to include the price for these builds, especially since it gives an appreciation of municipal spending as the fire station is funded from tax dollars
150k or so
The faster we get the fire out the cheeper the cost on taxpayers
It looks 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Take a shot every time he says "Correct" haha.. Good video!
The Chicago police departments have these for small fires like garbage cans, car fires and small house fires. Mainly because getting those big trucks around the busy city is very hard. These are really all you need for small fires.
are you sure its the police department? if so i think i see one of the problems there
We could do with those here in Australia.
Did I miss the MPG loop and towing test on the Tremor??? Been waiting months to see the numbers and drivability. Thanks.
Good morning Andre...nice fire truck..thanks for the video☺
It’s a promo but a damn interesting one! Neat video
Small world, I worked there for my first job when I was 18 as a helper. My father still works there and is in charge of some of the welders.
I saw a similar one to that Ford at the Chicago Auto Show last year. It was a crew cab with 6 wheels.
Wonder why they got rid of the leaf springs for coil springs in the rear?
A receiver mounted 16.5 winch does not like winching out a 16k f550 type 6 on 40's. Love the coil rear and rear departure angles though. A stock height 550 brush stuck seams to always want to hang up in the rear crossing a swale.
All of the brush fires I've been to were close enough to the road to be handled by a structural engine or in terrain where no vehicle of any configuration could get to. Looks cute though.
Tjat is what tractor-plows are for
Now this is a truck for Roman !
Hell yea glad people are making things like this for the fire department
Hehe nice to know how there being put together before I get to take em out on the line
A bear chassis?!?! Which kind??? Black? Brown? Panda? Ask the tough questions!
J/K J/K
Another great, interesting video! Thanks for sharing!
As a firefighter ( who also works on truck committes) I can see that pin holding the slideout tray getting lost over the life of the truck.
But, nice build 👍👍
Almost forgot, 500 gallons water x 8.3 lb/gal = 4150 lbs, you're welcome
No front nozzle because we don’t have more than tiny 1 acre brush fires in NY but our FD just got one very similar last year
That Acela is a Kamaz! And Andre knows it!
sorry to say so but you are not correct... acela buys the old used FMTVs of the US armed forces and rebuilds them... and those are not KAMAZ... they are licensed Steyr M Series trucks (Steyr Daimler Puch was the original designer and developer) and the US FMTV were produced by Stewart & Stevenson in the states with a production license
from what I know the FMTV group of vehicles is still produced but with a lot of modifications (armoured cab) in the states by Oshkosh (before they were produced by BAE)
I saw the fires in California. Going to need a bigger truck!
In Aus the fire wall can be up to 200m high. Almost impossible to fight.
There's more to it. You'd use this for the fingers, not necessarily inside the woods
That has to be the most expensive brush truck I have ever seen!
My fire department has one of those!
Very Cool Andre!
Wowwwwwww, this is a monster
Should go look at Skeeter Brush Trucks out of Houston
Same Truck setup but replace the fire fighting skid with a camper/sleeper and this baby can compete with the Mercedes Unimog in Extreme off road adventures...
Any explanation for the high water rescue truck having the same name as Amtrak's high speed train fr Boston to Washington?
What was the pump on this unit how much water could it flow? My department is looking to build something like this also any idea on the cost of this rig?
We have a WEIS built F550.
Loving fire truck👍it make great truck for the farm. Big thanks USA n prayers n thoughts for loss of Americans in Hercules.
Great content - thanks!
This thing has cal fire written all over it 😂
I want that front bumper for my F250!
Buckstop makes some killer bumpers...just like they sound...will stop a big buck in it's tracks!
cool truck
This needs to be in australia rn
I like to see more like this one
How much does it cost
At 1:38 it looks like the fox shock is fully compressed....
It's mounted shaft-down, so mud won't build up on top of the body and eat into the shaft or seal.
Can citizens buy these and how much are they
Why use the extra engine to run the pump when the truck comes with a PTO?
Redundancy, vastly lower fuel use, an engine DESIGNED to run at constant (wide open throttle) conditions for hours, if not days.
Those Kubota 3 cylinders are beyond ridiculous for reliability. Can hit 10,000 plus hours if well maintained before needing a rebuild.
Or, several time longer than that Ford diesel could survive at wide open throttle/full power conditions. And cost 1/10th the price to replace with a brand new motor.
Mobile Attack....
what is the price ?? please !!
Buckstop makes a kit like this.
Very cool
This is what happens when you give big brother a blank check.
..to save lives and taxpayer property.
Silly structure guys don't know how to fight wildfires without water wasters.
Looks $$$$$
I think on a build like this I would start with a f350 chassis instead of a f550. I think they used the f550 because of how much it has to have on it but idk
Samuel Rowland that and they tend to last longer because the engines are de-tuned a bit for more longevity
The 350s get over GVWR real quick when you add 350-400 gallons of water to them.
EightQuaterCustoms for sure, between the 5,000lbs of water and 1,000+lbs of pump you’d be able to put a couple uniforms in and two guys no tools lol
Also the 550 chasis doesn't come with a bed. We use Dodge 5500 for that reason plus as others has stated they can haul more weight and are de-tuned for longevity, which you wouldn't notice the difference if your are not towing massive loads.
Alpha namens you can buy a f350 srw without a bed.
How much this truck
Check out QTAC fire’s channel for a more detailed build series on a quick attack wildland brush truck build!
Correct
Ideo of price without the pump ?😜
Over 100k.
With a pump they cost 150-175k
Correct....
You think that one is cool?... I dare you to go see and do a video on the fire brush trucks in Los Alamos NM! Way bigger and more power than that one!
Was this video about the truck or the equipment on the truck? It sounds like Andre has no idea what he is talking about by saying let’s keep going.... take your time and plan your video content!!!!
Definitely the last truck I’d ever take in to a brush fire...can u imagine this this crapping out just a 1000 clicks in and the transmission breaking lol
Now start a small brush fire so we can see this thing in action!
[skeeter 6x6]
Dear Santa . . .
lol no, that title belongs to the Unimog
Cool looking truck but as far as Brush trucks go its not a great setup. Too high and has limited storage.
I’ll take 20
wish the interviewer was more knowledge able about its application to ask better questions.
my wife overheard me watching this video and asked why im watching a video about a fire truck..."are you going to start fighting fires?"...women...i just dont understand them...so say back..."of course not, i have to think of something else i need this truck for"...obviously im not telling her the real reason im watching...i was wondering what motor is has
It has a commercial 2019 version of the 6.7-liter turbo diesel V8 and a 6-speed automatic transmission.
KMEs are better
Not impressed with the pump install at all, lots of cheap galvanized pipe and poor fabrication. Lots of flashy bolt on stuff though.......
I’m sorry but a 5500 of any brand is not a medium duty truck
Another Ford video..... shocking
